I wonder what Jess Walton thinks about returning and finding there's a new Cane with an awful new backstory and then arriving on set and seeing a train carriage.

She's probably WTAF??

Hopefully she has a healthy attitude and can just focus on trying to make the most of her scenes.

I think she's very pragmatic. A year or so ago she did a podcast where she mentioned she had to ask Sony for more money because she doesn't drive in LA anymore and uses Uber instead. I think she likes to work as she does now and wants to make a good scene, preposterous writing be damned.

Okay, I tuned in to see Nikki vs Jill.

So I tuned in once you'd signaled the Jill Signal. I'm glad I did. It is always great to see Jess Walton.

Jill, Jill, Jill...I don't like the hair length cuz I'm so used to wh*re hair, but I like how it's done. And I loooooooooooove she's in town.

Liked the scenes I saw with Nikki. Like the scenes with Victor.

I agree - I miss the lion's mane but it's styled well. For 79 years old, she looks great (a couple of years ago, in social media post, she said she'd shaved a few years off her birthday when she'd audition, she used to claim 1949 but she's really born in 1946).

The scenes with Victor and Jack and Cane were all good. You can see that Eric Braeden likes working with her: his eyes twinkle. Jess Walton and Peter Bergman have always had great chemistry and it remains undimmed.

The lighting on that train set is the best in daytime. All of the actors look like prime time stars in that set. It was easy to compare Jess Walton on the Newman Ranch set vs the Train set - she looked glorious in that lighting. Billy Flynn looks like a child! Peter Bergman has 10 years knocked off him in that lighting.

You're welcome. Once I saw in here that not only was Jess back, but Jill WAS IN TOWN, I knew you would want to see. And I should have known when I tried to peek in and watch last Friday, I would probably sit down at some point. hehe. Which I happen to make it through half of last week already (great FF button lol). She did what??? Scandalous...hehe.

I do love how it's styled, but I just love her oh so longer hair. I'll bet money she can still do a great diva hair toss with how her hair is styled, too. Fingers crossed. :)

IKR. Eric who had a twinkle in his eye and they all bounced off each other so well. I totally agree with you about BF looking like an eccentric kid (it reminded me on the genius kid that is on the new ALIEN: EARTH tv show) but Jess looked superb under that lighting as did Peter and I enjoyed them together as well.

I was not even really going to tune in until the Danny and Chris wedding...just in case

Spoiler

I can't remember if you know about the cameos or not...but if not, I believe you will like them.

...but as long as Jill is on screen, I'm off break from the show.

Hopefully Jill will be back sooner rather than later and for a longer stretch.

With all this rambling about the twins don't know why they don't bring at least one back, even for just a short stint to try and salvage that story.

Keep them around the same age as before so Lily isn't looking like their sister.

It was a dumb move by Sally Sussman to age them up so much.

The L.A. nightclub is a gorgeous set. They did so well in constructing it. Just a shame it is a location-specific set. Definitely prefer it over the Jazz Lounge at the Athletic Club and Society.

This thingy they are doing with Cane is same as the Tucker McCall fiasco. People were up in arms about Tuckers return like he was a big threat. Aunt Meme was involved Yada Yada. We all know the story

All this Cane hype and like with Tucker, it will fizzle out to nothing

So Sienna is giving us rock chick/been around the block vibes. So far so good but based on past experiences I have zero expectations.

But like a parched man in the desert finding water, isn't it refreshing to have a new set/characters/story and not business intrigue round #456.

The set seemed fit for purpose and there were actually sufficient extras to make it seem real.

Seems like the limited sets of past few months have been used to pay for all of this.

It's been explained why there have been limited sets. 🤣🤣🤣 And it's far from a place to care about. It won't change. Move over that hill.

Y&R CDN episode thoughts

Spoiler

With this new s/l of Noah being close to death and surviving, a great pivot would be to make Sharon into an extremely over bearing mother an irrational fear of cars. It would only make sense at this point with 3 children now having tragedy’s involving driving.
She should develop a phobia and become extremely overprotective of Noah to the point that she will not approve of any woman he ends up with (sort of like another overbearing mother we know *ahem* Nikki)

Although I wouldn’t expect JG to actually delve into the psychological effects of this kind of thing and how much storyline that could actually come of it. Imagine all the gold mines JG has passed up with his awful writing over the years!

Does anyone know why TPTB are sending all these characters to LA at the same time?  And introducing new contract characters while they are there?  It is all going to be centered around one storyline set in LA?  Or are they all there at the same time by coincidence??  Plus, I'm assuming the new contract characters (at least one or two) will end up moving to Genoa City.  So there will need to be some explanation for that.  I'd love to hear any speculation.

So you’re holding out hope that it’s actually going to all make sense somehow? Even after the Dumas mess from this summer? Yeah I won’t hold my breath. 🤣

I read your hidden content, and I'll attempt to reply vaguely.

Damn, you could be successful as soap opera writer! Your suggestion is very akin to Harding Lemay's style of writing -- psychological interior issues causing problems, rather than outside villains drifting in and out of town causing trouble. Plus, Sharon certainly needs some kind of reboot to make her relevant again.  Sharon could become Y&R's version of Liz Matthews -- overbearing mother to her children, and meddling in the business of additional characters.

That’s exactly what I always loved about soaps, specifically Y&R. This soap used to do just that in their writing style. I actually imagine it would be easier for writers because it literally will write itself and you don’t have to overthink it. I like when the storylines are connected and the fallout births a totally new storyline and it can just continue on like that. There should be no need to rely on silly unrealistic scenarios to get people interested.

You and I are in 100 percent agreement.  If you've never read Harding Lemay's memoir, Eight Years in Another World, I urge you to do so.   If you prefer character driven psychological drama, rather than strongly plotted stories, I think you'd enjoy his book.

That nurse did not give a single fück about Sharon in that moment. She walked in, delivered news, and went off to do more important things, I guess. 🤣
