I do think Gio will come around, but it still hurts given those incredible reveal scenes with them.

Everything feels very temporary to me?  Like in 6 months Gio will be great with BLQ, Dante, and Tracey.

I figured that would be a given. If anything...since that as well as the BLQ/Lulu rivalry has been mostly dropped...I have to give props to the fact that Gio is STILL holding a grudge for all of these months.

They've really fumbled the aftermath as all of that is going to feel unearned now. I think it's down to Frank, Korte, CVE not being genuinely invested in any of these characters. Not even Gio. It reminds me of NAC's Spencer as there was always a certain apathy there as well even though he was the younger male lead (much more than Gio has been). In that case I know some thought it was because NAC stood up for himself, but I wonder if it's just a resentment for newer faces compared to old crutches. They will always try with, say, Joss (her stories are not good, but they are always around), as she is tied to their favorites or they have more of a connection with Eden McCoy.

Having all of this brought back up with Monica soon passing is even more dubious to me as I won't be surprised if we get some excuse for Tracy to get a tongue lashing.

Well, there is a reason I be talking about Frank with his 'flavors of the month.' I am happy that the show has still managed to keep a momentum going on, but there are some stories that still could have kept going along with the new stories so it's all cylinders all over the canvas.

I partially think it's an ultimately weightless story for all the reasons most of us discussed months ago - what's the dramatic heft in the long run, other than one more Quartermaine/overly grown secret child in a canvas now full of them? But I do think the actors and yes, the day to day writers played the dramatic fallout to the hilt in the moment when the reveal came out, to their credit.

I do think the show is invested in GM/Gio, who they made a point to create a role for (a common practice at FV's GH). But you're right that I think some things matter more. First and foremost they have to justify Steve's price tag, and they seemingly think action with Jason is integral to the show's longevity. Then there's Joss and all the cross-connections with the remnants of the mob trio who Korte and FV still seem to want to keep central. (I suspect CVE, the lesser evil here, is also a big, big booster of the Obrecht clan - they're all from the silly/snarky character school from the old OLTL team.)

I've already ranted on and on over two different forums abut how insane it is that they are not playing Gio and Emma (or Dante and Alexa's Lulu) all week long the way Guza II would've, but GH has its priorities and old habits (like pushing Joss) die hard. It's just leaving money on the table to me with those two couples who could be huge. Mazza has leveled up incredibly and Braedyn Bruner is a major find, and neither is likely to be here long if they're not given strong material (or even then). And Alexa, settled with Justin Bruening and their children, does not need this job and in fact came out of retirement for it.

I don't think they were apathetic about NAC per se - they played him heavy - but I do think the popular interracial couple and his alleged unwillingness to play the BTS game left them somewhat paralyzed. It was obvious to me (I know others differ) that they would've loved to put over a 'reformed' Esme with Spencer and get away from Trina any way they could. I think that only failed because Chavez took his out.

I just wish someone would see sense, because there is so much potential good on this show if properly utilized or better choices were made.

Well it definitely has managed...uneven or not or just plain bias...to keep the momentum that it has had since the Nurse Ball. And we are now a year into these writers' run so that's good praise given where their writing was a year ago.

You can definitely see the light in their eyes when they get to go back to the OG Obrecht run - so much effort put into Liesl's histrionics. I'll give Kathleen Gati credit for trying (and I find her dramatics less grating than I did back when she first arrived), but they will always feel like a sideshow, or something that might have ended up on a summer season web spinoff in 2015.

It frustrates me because, even though I know you and others have good points about the short-term potential for the Gio story, I still think there was much more they could have done, even with them not wanting to pay to use Olivia or Ned. They have spent so much more airtime on a story that was garbage from day one (Kristina having a baby for Molly and then having an extended breakdown and rampage).

It is wild how little we see them or Leo atm. They used to be a fairly regular staple not very long ago.

I am glad Rena is not gone for good but it is exhausting how much they've screwed up with Lois.

Obrecht has been toned down considerably over the years even if I'll never accept her. But highlighting the Rocco issue makes things much worse again, and I will still wager pushing this with her and Britt is a big part of what will sink KT again in the end. The general audience is just not here for buying that line and it shows, even people who were nominally okay with Britt and Obrecht.

I'm not looking fwd to the inevitable Emmy bait emotional journey for them both when sentient brutalist sculpture

Spoiler

Ryan Paevey returns. I never bought into that family then or now.

My patience for Obrecht begins and ends with her as a straight-up villain, not dominating the show. She was good when she first came on and you could tell this dayplayer had a real edge, and she's good in short run doses for the same material. But that's not how they want to use her. They find a strong character actor and try to make the character all things to all people. That began as the school of Carlivati, but CVE, etc. learned it from him on staff.

Speaking of this crazy show (and since I got wiggle room waiting for a certain show with snowflakes)...

I can't believe how much I'm almost caught up. Right in time for something that probably going to make me cry.

But as of right, I'm been liking...don't hate me ;)...

JASON/BRITT. I know I'm in the minority on this board. They were a happy accident the first time around, and then the writing decided it wanted to go and be slanted. And I didn't like the whole 'let's bring back a character and isolate them with dayplayers forever.' Because it worked so well on Lucky, Brenda, etc., etc. BUT...slapsticky writing aside...I have been liking it so far. They even got a good cliffhanger, and I feel SB and KT DO have chemistry. Or perhaps I should have said great longing chemistry. And I forgot that Jason was dead when Britt died. And they paid off the beat of Jason finding out Britt died when he got back. I have even come around to Joss being involved in this story. I want to see where it goes and what Britt's story will be.

CURTIS/PORTIA/ISAIAH. I still can't figure out how Isaiah went from being into Jordan to being basically obsessed with Portia, but I did like Portia and Curtis's knock-out dragout argument that winded up with Portia sleeping with Isaiah...and going back for seconds...thirds...though I bet a WTD storyline is coming since she also slept with Curtis. Jordan almost feels like an afterthought.

DREW'S ATTACK. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! That murder mystery trope finally hit its bullseye!!! I'm with the group who say it's Willow. I can't believe she got back with Drew. But I felt she had not forgiven him and was using him. How...evil of her. I hope that means her dark turn is farrrrrrrr from over. I loved Tracy helping Michael. And I love how it's going so far given so many people wanted Drew gone (not those Kai/Trina scenes). And the reveal of people gradually finding out is just so soapy good.

ERICA, JANET, & SKYE...I MEAN...ALEXIS, AVA, & KRISTINA. I admit that I was disappointed in the story turn of Cody confessing that Kristina paid him to seduce Ava because he has feelings for Molly. I just don't care about Cody/Molly and no oneliners about people still in town is going to change that for me. That said...I was not expecting Ava to pull a Nikolas on Ric. Nor was I expecting Alexis to tie him up. Karma for Carly and the panic room? It is soapy, but it's delicious. I wonder who will find out first...Molly or Liz. And of course...somehow I expect Carly to be roped into it.

ON THIS EPISODE OF ALIAS.  I think I've warmed to Joss and Vaughn. lol. Still don't like the storyline. And I actually gasped at Brennan's henchwoman being a triple agent. I do like that Anna appears to be getting mixed in, but I feel the idea of a Carly/Brennan/Anna triangle has sailed with the recast. And I am long overdue ready for Carly to find out what Brennan with her daughter...and that Anna knew.

Oh and...

MAXIE'S COMA. That was a nice pivot and put momentum on a lot of characters that the audience cared for. And that Sidwell was the reason for it since he's going after Deception? Good to see him do something evil again.

I totally forgot Ned and Olivia were Gio’s bio grandparents. Wow they’ve gotten zero POV in this story.

Omg the Nina and Willow scenes were so damn good. I am so glad Nina was finally fed up and went off on just how stupid Willow is. Cynthia was FANTASTIC.

Omg can Gio and Emma kiss already my god.

Wasn’t Britt in town with Rocco his whole life except the last 2 years? Why does she suddenly care about him now?

I must admit that it has crossed my mind that we have really seen Ned or Olivia too much as of late.

I am really irritated Ned gets 0 point of view.  Sure, Olivia should get one too, but personally it's a much bigger deal for Ned.  Lois and Brook Lynn lied to him for years about this.   It's not like Wally is a main player on Days or anything so it appears it's just laziness on GH's part.

It seems like Leo has been replaced by James as kid of the moment.  It feels like at least Lucas should mention him lol.
