Thursday's show was great!  The Molly romance novel having Delilah & Clint Buchanan character names is such a sweet homage to One Life To Life.  Cody had such great scenes with Tracy, Felicia and Ava.  He was looking so delicious working that hay, too. 😜

Loved the Drew/Willow reunion with Nina seeing them hug at the end, LOL.  I hope this show keeps Drew in this gray area and doesn't turn him into a loser like AJ and then killed off.  The worst part of the episode was Sonny/Michael/Diane winning once again against Drew.

GH is never the place for sweet homages to OLTL.  It's not cute or funny regardless of what FV thinks.  GH has it's own history to rely on.

I will always love OLTL, but very true.

Yeah, I am not trying to diss OLTL or anything.  The soap stands on its own.  GH just isn't the place for funny nods to OLTL characters because it's not the same.

No, no, no. I knew what you meant and knew you weren't dissing OLTL. As much as I enjoy the occasional shoutout...sometimes it can be like when RC on DAYS (and here especially around 2014) just hasssss to do a wink, wink, nudge, nudge. The fact is...he does not have to do it at all.

GH has a wealth of its own history that could use a wink, wink or shoutout. And I mean well BEFORE 2013. So I understand why it can be so not cute or funny.

Or as a certain Housewife used to say...let the mouse go.

I completely agree with Frank Valentini or whichever writer puts in all those Easter egg references to Llanview, Pine Valley, Corinth and The City.  The scripts are funnier and richer with those winking homages that link Port Charles to its sister soap history, a history that is rich in cross-overs since the 1990s when you had GH characters show up on those other soaps. There is no less GH history on screen simply because Erica Kane, Enchantment, The Banner or whatever is referenced or that you have an actor playing a character named (Tad) Martin.  All of the ABCDaytime soaps exist in a single fictional universe and since GH is the only show remaining, it's super cute, adorable and appropriate to have those little Easter egg winks/nudges to keep that rich daytime history stayin' alive!

If we get material from other soaps, I'd prefer story and character that can work with the canvas (I think @Vee has talked about a trip to Corinth that the show could take, although I may be wrong). I don't really need name drops, although I guess this wasn't really a homage to OLTL, they just wanted to do a Western fantasy and threw the names in.

The Delilah mention is amusing because Clint is the one Buchanan man of her era she was not with (aside from Cord).

Rather than any OLTL mention bothering me I tend to just agree with those who think they could do better with Molly. I feel like they're trying to take her back about a decade when she has gone through too much to go back.

Molly fantasy scenes were embarrassing. Cody also feels way too old do be with Molly and we literally never see Molly deal or be effected by the break up of a 10 year relationship that ended in the loss of her daughter. Also the actors have zero chemistry.

I was hoping we might get a proper Liz/Ric/Ava triangle and even Quad with Cody but Ric and Ava both seem over each other super quickly. Ric and Ava truly had legs too.

All these pairings had so much potential. Not sure if they are just not going to do much with Ric as Hearst is recurring, they don't care about Liz, Ava is always just sort of hanging on, and Josh Kelly is recurring now too, but it's a waste. Pivoting back to the Obrecht gang isn't worth cutting out potential in the current canvas.

OLTL will always be my favorite soap, but the constant, embarrassing favoritism for past OLTL stars and the endless attempts to re-thread OLTL or other ABC soap stuff into the current show (as part of Frank and Ron's alleged failed dream for an "ABC supersoap" in the early '10s) have poisoned the well for a lot of what could be worthwhile crossovers. I loved little Sam on OLTL, but seeing whole stories tilted around Roger's third character and poor Patrick Gibbons struggling to act as that Boy Scout character they had him play - it was just pathetic on FV's part. Move on.

In isolation I don't have an issue with characters from other ABC soaps popping up or even potentially doing stints. This stuff goes back to Marco Dane scheming with Tracy; there are places Blair could mix it up with Lucy and Deception, or Skye and her daughter could come back and make trouble (with Skye quickly leaving!). The problem is that Frank's preoccupation with this stuff has too often come at the expense of GH story and characters. So while I can see places where some visiting characters would work for appearances or short arcs, I wouldn't do any more of it for a long time. GH fans are long since over it, and they have a right to be.

(As for Corinth, what I had dreamed up once was to see a hypothetical OLTL revival have its youth set make a Halloween visit there to the 'cursed town' on a teenage dare, maybe unknowingly running into the ghost of Gwyneth Alden. But you could easily do the same thing with the kids on GH - if again, the fans weren't already so sick of crossovers. At least send me my royalty check, Frank.)

I chuckled at the “Clint/Delilah” reference and don’t mind the OLTL callbacks in general but they do contribute to the overall “Frank playing with his dolls” sense of randomness that’s constantly undermining the show’s momentum.

For example, rather than continuing to develop stories that were gaining steam (Lucas and Marco caught between Sidwell and Sonny, the Emma/Gio romance, Ava and Ric blackmailing Alexis, etc.) we’re watching:

1.) Sonny flirt with the ADA because Frank met Carlo Rota’s wife and decided to create a part for her.

2.) Everyone freak out over Maxie having a heart attack because Kirsten Storms decided to move to Nashville but didn’t want to leave the show.

3.) All of this Five Poppies nonsense because Steve Burton needed a love interest and his fiancee(?) suggested that Kelly Thiebaud come back.

I'd love that - the crumbling Alden mansion, maybe Emma and Gio or someone else staying at Kate's boarding house while getting away from Port Charles. But Loving will always be my very tattered comfort blanket of the ABC soaps and I doubt anyone there would see it the same way...
