Just like with Chad there is no reason to recast Javi.   Both characters should be rested for a while. The writers should be using these openings in the cast to bring on Hortons, Bradys and Carvers.

Javi hasn't even been on that long so if they have story for him, I can see recasting him. If he's just there to do what he's doing now, then they shouldn't recast.

Agreed. Besides, getting rested for a year or so has happened with many characters over the last decade and it did them well. I'm surprised they've never given a one-year break to characters like Brady or Rafe.

I think the writing has improved for Javi a little.

The paramedic career has given him more of an identity than just as Gabi's assistant or Leo's boy. And he called Leo out on his disgusting treatment of Gwen, thank God 👍

I guess we'll see what happens in the next few months because at this point, I don't really feel the need for a recast. I would rather they had recast Doug III.

But maybe things will change.

I wonder if the ridiculous taping schedule mixed with the non-existent budget is the reason the show has been so recast happy. I hated all the unnecessary recasts during Carlivati's tenure, but I just figured that was partly due to his ego, and maybe it still was. However, with Cwickly/Ford now recasting Javi, along with Chad, it really must be a dismal situation, beyond just ego or even laziness, that these writers can't take the opportunity to rest characters and re-write the stories, which could lead to a whole host of new possibilities. Alas, creativity is dead! Someone insert an intelligent thought provoking quote about stifled creativity here!

Well, I am sure it is also due to actors leaving their roles when there is [likely] still a story planned for those characters, especially regarding Chad.

Which is exactly my point. Why aren't the writers changing their plans like they should be and like they always did in the past when actors decide to move on, especially in the case of Billy Flynn and Chad? They always did it in the past without question. Can you imagine the show recasing Marlena, Bo, and Hope just because the actors chose to leave, but they "still had plans?" It's ridiculous.

🤷🏻‍♂️ I would assume, sometimes, plans cannot be that easily changed, especially when you are forced to write ten million years in advance, as opposed to the standard six-to-eight weeks.
