Who is telling him to shave his chest before shirtless scenes, though?

Yeah, I love to laugh, too, but, the misogyny on this show just doesn't cut it for me in terms of humor. Haven't you ever wondered why they seem intent on making people choose day in & day out between females? Carly & Robin. And, Robin hasn't even been on the show in years. Here, they've created a fictitious war between Joss & Emma, when many of us wish that they would instead make them partners, not competitors. (Not to mention they've got Emma making googoo eyes at a man almost old enough to be her father.) They just seem intent on creating enmity against some females, whether there's anything organic in these supposed variances or not. Good grief, Soap Twitter poses Carly vs. Sam all the damned time & Sam is very dead. Has been since Halloween.

I think you're making a good point, in that female rivalry is kind of the low-hanging fruit of soap writing. It's easy to write, and it gives opportunity for the kinds of catty dialogue and catfights that many soap viewers enjoy. (And not just soap viewers--Bravo has built a whole reality show empire on these kinds of scenes). I think it's harder to write good female friendships, which are also essential to a good soap. GH tries, with friendships like Nina/Ava, but they all feel a little forced.

I will say, however, that as female rivalries go, Emma vs. Joss is one of the better ones. It makes perfect sense given the characters' histories, and I can also see the characters teaming up to take down Professor Dalton in a few months and eventually becoming more like frenemies than out-and-out rivals.

Now, first, thanks for the reply. And it's great fun to agree on the over-riding concepts. And, we agree on some things, but not Emma & Joss, but so what, it's not like it's a problem and if I look on you may see things in a way I like in the near future. To me a female rivalry that was rooted in character history was Joss & Kristina. To me when they met whee it is gonna come down. I miss that.

Also I have always valued friendship on soaps. Maxie and Felicia. Another Felicia, another city anothwer soap Felicia & Cass.

I agree there is a point there about female rivalries being a go to on soaps and are sometimes very flimsy and petty.  For example, 75% of Carly's issues and rivalries with women.

Conflicts like Brook Lynn vs. Lulu and Emma vs. Joss work given the history and the fact they both need rivals.  Otherwise, everyone in town would just be saying how awesome and brave the both of them are.  The Gio reveal would have lacked the punch if Lulu wasn't the person who exposed it.  Joss's WSB Alias adventure would be duller than it is without Emma always being in the mix.

I agree friendships are harder to write and execute well, but there is a time and place for a good old fashion female rivalry.

Well, with Carly that makes total sense. Back when Sarah Brown originated the role, the character seemed so feral and wounded and defensive, it made sense that she would view other women as rivals rather than as potential friends. And Laura Wright plays her as a former high school queen bee, determined to be the alpha female in every situation, so again that would lead to plenty of rivalries. whi

The character who I'm surprised doesn't have more close female friends is Laura. While we see deep bonds between other characters in that age range like Felicia and Anna and Lucy, Laura doesn't seem to be included in those friendships. I guess it speaks to just how much Laura was isolated on the canvas and treated simply as "Luke's wife" following her 1993 return.

Good point about Laura.  Due to Laura being off screen she missed the Felica/Anna era for the most part.  I suppose someone like Tiffany should have been a better friend to her when Laura returned, but Tiffany had tons of other friends.

I wouldn't say Laura was completely isolated in her return.  She was friends with mostly everyone in the 90's but never developed a super close friendship with another female on canvas.  To be honest, did Laura ever really have a close female friend?  It seems like Laura builds better friendships with men.

Don't think they are fooling emma.also GH Fan's on Twitter are nuts

Well, some Soap Twitter fans are okay, your word, nuts, I would typically say delusional. But, why quibble over what we call strange fans, right?

What do you mean about someone fooling Emma? She seems to be trying to fool people not the other way around.
