At least it gives Kat and Chelsea a home where they can interact with each other or others without being at Orphey's, Uptown, or the CC.

I'm fine with them interacting there, because I love those three sets; I don't think there's one set I hate with a burning passion. Yes, the private casino room could leave more to be desired, but it's not that bad in comparison to what other soaps have.

I'm just hoping that when they get the next set budget, we can see an expansion on the hotel, the country club, possibly one more communal area, the courthouse for law cases, etc. Maybe Vanessa's house and/or business. They did say they used their entire set budget, so I'm assuming they'll get the same the next time.

nothing nearly about it.

I think expanding the CC would be a great idea. The police station set feels wasted with only one contract character being an officer. The CC could have a real estate office/showroom for Vanessa to sell properties, it could house Ted's offices where he could do things like consultations and minor procedures like botox and obviously major procedures would be in the hospital. We see the idea of a gym with the changing room, but it would be great to have a pool set for summer.

I swear to God, these two are going to give me an aneurysm. Every time I think they're winding them down, they ramp up their storyline again. I literally pity the actors. Shakespearean actors couldn't pull this off. I just don't understand how this is so bad when there's so much that's good on the show.

Ashley/derek might be more tolerable if they had just met and were getting to know each other but we are led to believe they have been dating for a few years, right?

Surely they would be in a better place by now?

No to Ashley/Andre. I have no idea why he would be interested.

As for sets:wish list

Jacob/Naomi living room

Den/study for Vernon/Anita so they aren't always in the same room

Naomi office

Office for Vanessa

Terrace at CC.

Another eatery/meeting place.

Really hope they start using outdoor sets. Those few in the first week worked really well and I assumed they would continue.

I may have misheard, but I swear there was a line in the script mentioning that Kat's and Chelsea's workspace was only a few hundred yards away from Dani's -- implying they'd be close enough to see each other often.

With them living in DC I think it would've been a great opportunity to give them an industrial style loft. With the open concept they could've fit a living area as well as a bedroom. This could've been a nice meet up place for Ashley and Derek to help develop their friendship.

I 100% agree here. I feel like their set is Anita's set and it would be nice if Vernon had his own space. I picture it with dark wood and shelves filled with books. Something masculine but cozy.

I don't know if I need an office for Vanessa considering she's a realtor but does she even have a home? I can't recall if we've seen Vanessa or Doug at home.

Yes! Not only a terrace but I wish they had an outdoor space since it's a country club.

I 100% agree. I've been so disappointed by the lack of location shooting. That scene with Bill and Naomi in week one was gorgeous and that would be an easy location to use over and over again. It's visually stunning and doesn't require much setup. Just throw a couple benches down and have people walking through the park.

I'd also love a coffee shop, something more grab and go than Orphey Gene's. With it now being summer I wish they had a version of GH's metro court pool set. Ideally it would be an outdoor set meant to be the pool at the country club. Since the characters are so buttoned up it would be a nice way to have the characters take some clothes off and be shown in a more relaxing setting.

I knew not to get my hopes up but my biggest hope for BTG is that they'd modernize the production model which to me means regular outdoor shooting. It especially sucks because they're in a studio that can accommodate that. B&B is moving to a similar studio but based on BTG I know not to have high expectations when it comes to this.

I find Derek tolerable. The actor has come alive in the last few weeks. I wouldn't waste him on Ashley; he has more chemistry with many other ladies already on canvas. I enjoy watching him mingle all around town in his work uniform, too.  He brings a sense of realism to the show.

I agree with everything you've said about expanding on some sets (I.E., Country Club). I originally wanted to see more of Anita and Vernon's mansion, but there aren't enough people living there. I still think that was a mistake. I would've had Kat and/or Andre staying with them at least for a short time.

Speaking of Kat, she is eating up this show. Ms. Thing needs a week off. I am still enjoying her interactions with everyone in the cast. Love watching the origins of this epic feud with Eva.

Well, as we saw during the premiere week, they have suites at the country club, so it'd be interesting to see that set again or even more of them. And I am sure with it being warmer these days, we'll get "outdoor amenities", as well. Assembly Studios is really the best location for them right now, and I know they're going to continue to do amazing things for the upcoming season.

Plus, per a sign we saw, we know the country club (at the very least) has a golf club and tennis courts. I wonder if we'll see Pamea turn over the Salon and Spa to some under-five, etc.

We saw their bedroom set when they had sex, and with the mention of their children, I am sure we'll see [something] coming up at some point.

I wasn’t expecting it but Kat has seemingly become the star of the show, and I don’t hate it because the actress is perfect in her role.

This week was a complete snooze fest. Sorry, but if this is what BTG is turning into, I’m worried.

Kat is way overexposed, and the actress just isn’t bringing any layers to the role (much like her OG father, honestly). She’s playing everything for comedy, even in scenes where she should be terrified of a potential killer. It just doesn’t work.

Leslie has gone full cartoon villain. The actress is phenomenal, but the writing isn’t doing her any favors. Such a wasted opportunity.

Dani lusting after every man in sight is borderline MeToo material. And I don’t even see the supposed “high stakes” around people finding out about her and André. The reactions will just be a collective “oh well.”

Dr. Madison is ridiculous, and Chelsea is straight-up toxic.

The busboy spying on Martin? Embarrassingly dumb. Why does that country club keep hiring the most suspicious people imaginable?

The Articulettes’ insta-reunion was rushed and completely forced. Yet another missed opportunity.

And can we talk about the constant bar-hopping? I’ve had ENOUGH. Build some damn offices

Sorry for the rant, but the show is starting to feel off. Yes, it still has that wholesome vibe, but it’s veering into safe and lazy territory. Worst of all, it’s not taking any risks. Everything feels half-baked. Bill felt sick—oh wait, never mind, it’s nothing serious. There’s a literal criminal wandering around town—but it’s all played for laughs. A man slept with a woman under false pretenses—but hey, it’s just about laundering money for her business, no big deal.

Something is really off.

I co-sign on THIS. Perfect analysis of the situation. (in my opinion)

Even though I'm couple of episodes back... I'm pretty much on the same page as you. My main issue is that the show is very inconsistent episode to episode. I'm starting to dread the periods after their "culminations", because they don't know what to do and they flatline every time. A lot of the characters are under-developed. Ashley is the least of their problems. They have no freaking idea who she is. The bigger issue is that... the caricatures have taken over. Dani is like a pit of soap opera cliches... and Dana is just... fading away into joke territory. She's not menacing at all. I said that was my biggest fear months ago and people told me I shouldn't worry. TMG is still awesome, I can say that.

I'm still not ready to forget about BTG... but I'm praying for improvement. One thing I can say though... even in their most dull, they are better than Bold. But so are commercials for diapers and Ozempic on CBS, so that's not a real compliment. Don't hate me, y'all.  I'm trying to see the positive. 😂

I'm really liking Kat as well but for some reason I didn't expect HER to be the standout, but she is. She's almost reminding of a young black "Tracy Quartermaine." Sarcasm and all. Also, whenever Tracy disliked or perceived someone as a threat or enemy, she went on a mission to get rid of them. Kat's doing exactly that.

I admire Dani and Nicole's sisterly bond. The cup-throwing scene was silly yet cute. They truly support and have each other's backs. Nicole looked stunning all week. Love the way she rocks all her suits!💯

@Antoyne Colby is fantastic! I expected her position, and I can't say it was a bad move. I wish the show were being smarter in its liking of her. She should be working side-by-side with her father to bring down Leslie, not running around on her own.  It's an ensemble, treat it as such! I am eagerly waiting for the show's big love story, and I have a feeling that will also be her storyline soon.

At least BTG is moving. May not be the way viewers want sometimes, but it's moving forward. Plus, they've had some great "cliffhanger" moments.

Great point!

TV GUIDE gave Beyond the Gates a "Cheer" in their Cheers & Jeers section. Saying that they're unlocking the full potential of Tamara Tunie. After years of solid supporting work on SVU and ATWT that she's finally slaying her center stage moment as the show's layered matriarch Anita Dupree

Has Tamara Tunie ever been nominated for a Daytime Emmy?

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I swear I feel like some of the posters here are watching a different show. We're 3 1/2 months in and I feel like for a brand new show, BTG is definitely excelling and finding its way.

We're getting to know 40 plus characters and that's going to take time. I want to allow the show at least 6 months before nitpicking everything. I am choosing to trust and believe in MVJ and her team. I'm still thoroughly enjoying the show, very much.
