AMEN, DANI!!! Take control of your life!!! And WELL-PLAYED, CHELS!!! You have heard this all before. And it sounds meta to the audience cuz Dani really is one step forward, two steps back.

Lord...not Eva panicking!!!

I am enjoying seeing Dani's POV. Especially since she's coming across mature. I can't help, but wonder though when 'two steps back' when come into play again. Cuz...DANI. lol.

Mmmmm nice pants, Randy.

Uh oh, Doug. Not moving over Joey's head. But...I guess that would up the stakes.

Wow...Silk Press Sheila is losing it. That hair looks good though.

Ooooo not Randy ignoring Joey's calls.

I like that top on Pamela.

Hahaha!!! That montage. Fine, I have been won over to the Dani/Pamela friendship.

Hahaha!!! But...I'm rooting for her. But I can't help, but feel like the other shoe is going to drop.

Oh, no!!! Doug lost the money!!! Oh, wait. He was there at Uptown while Vanessa and Joey are there.

Yeah, Derek and Ashley are easily the weakest part of this episode.

Oooo Eva vs Silk Press Sheila!

Today was firing on all cylinders.. and yes I'm including Ashley/Derek in that as well LOL

Joey/Vanessa had some fun double entendre talk as they discussed business.. amongst other things.

Doug/Vanessa... didn't know they had it in them

I have a feeling this suddenly coming together isn't due to their love for one another, but transference.  He's an adrenaline junkie and she was left hot to trot from her talk to Joey.

Dani... one step forward.. two steps back?  Jury is still out, but it was nice to see Dani not in Bill/Hayley's orbit.. and forging a new life with Pamela as her business partner and Andre as her FWB.

I'm intrigued that Chelsea's way of letting off steam is to hook back up with the couple... me thinks she inherited more than just walking a runway from her mom.

Derek/Ashley were kind of cute, and I'm going to assume that these scenes are foreshadowing for the day that the two end up breaking up.  At least the show realizes that the two don't really connect.  I do still wonder if the hints dropped a few weeks ago about Laura and the potassium will be tied to Ashley or if that scene of Ashley melting down over making an error on a chart was just a throwaway scene.

Eva vs Silk Press Sheila was a good end scene for the episode.. and a musical montage as Vanessa/Doug and Ashley/Derek share some happy time in the sack

I'm excited for tomorrow.

Can we get a black bestie on the show. I would love to see that relationship played out, because it's not one we regularly see on a soap. Kat and Chels have each other, but they're technically family. And the rest of the Dupree ladies have a white bestie. Although, now that I think of it Hayley was Naomi's bestie and we all know how she did her.

Anyway, I would love a non-family member to be brought in to play bestie to one of the Duprees.

In Days case they tape ahead so that they can have weeks/months off and don't have to pay for the studio during that time.

I don't know how that works in terms of he crew-does their salary cover the times they are not working?

I'm sure there are union rules to cover this.

Y&R films 5 shows in 4 days, so I guess they save on paying for studio costs on the day off?

Yes, it all is a bit of a mystery.

    • Thanks for starting this thread!  I was hoping others were listening and would want to chat about it. I'm really enjoying Montecito!  The production and audio values are top notch. The storylines are interesting and keep me wanting more.  There is corporation succession, cheating, alcoholism, bisexual relationships, divorced parents, brother/sister drama, scorned mother, father/son relationship issues, etc. At first I couldn't stand Mena's (sp?) voice, but I've grown to enjoy her and I love to hate her as a villain. I keep hearing Smitty (BTG) in Mike Manning's voice, so it keeps throwing me haha. The only thing going against it is one episode per week, at only 18 minutes long, so we need more content. Anyone else listening and enjoying it?
    • This, plus they nixed their overnight set crew during the COVID era and never brought them back.

    • I did some research because I had a similar question. (also, I don't want to poop on your joke which was amusing, but it sent me down a rabbit hole) A Reddit user who works at TeleVision City (where Y&R is filmed) estimated it takes 45 minutes to set up or reconstruct an already built set.  However, according to union rules, it takes at least seven crew members (not counting lighting and sound installation).  As always, the real cost is the labor, not the task.   Y&R uses robotic cameras, so there is only a skeleton crew on set.  Most of their crew budget goes to production assistants, who cannot move sets.  So, they would need to hire a crew every time they wanted to put up or take down a set (for two days) as well as a lighting and sound design installation.  Which is obviously very different from how production worked when money was more freely spent (and good for the unions for keeping the workplace safe). So, filming a single day in Lauren and Michael's living room could cost as much as they spend on two actors salaries for an entire year.
    • I knew Giovanni Mazza was talented but damn that kid is a star in the making.
    • The Nurses' Ball has always been cringey, fast forward material for me, but especially during the Frank era. The musical numbers and audience reactions are unwatchable.  So many of the conflicts on this show feel phony and manufactured. Probably no better instance is the Gio - Dante crap. Gio's whole story is inorganic, plot driven, no stakes, fake conflict; giving people lame drama just to give them drama, a prime example of GH under Frank.
    • What is the reason why soaps can’t use whatever sets they want? How exactly does it cost money..? I’m sure they still have Michael and Lauren’s house, why can’t they just put it up and shoot it when needed lol
    • I'm binging last week and I still find it so odd how different the show feels. Before I felt like each episode felt so long but the show is gliding by now. I'm on Thursday and it's crazy how real the characters feel. It doesn't feel like Days of Our Lives because I'm so used to everything being slapstick. It's definitely nice seeing layers to the characters now. I'm beginning to feel really confident about the coming months when the new headwriters can introduce their own stories.
    • And, Dani's focus, whoa, when she deigns to really pay attention, her focus is laser sharp. And, Chelsea is a natural attention seeking target for Dani. She is so much more mother than I realized before.
