Members Chris B
I still am hoping they make Martin the son of Vernon and Anita so I don't necessarily want a newly created son but they could always say they have a son who is estranged from the family. Today's episode was great. Danielle Paige is one of my favorite script writers. Her scripts remind me of a P&G soap at it's best which might be due to her background on Guiding Light. She seems to really handle family dynamics well. Everything felt warm and unique to each relationship. I've been saying since early on that I felt like Eva was Nicole's daughter and as they continue to drop hints I'm feeling like that could be a real possibility. The birthday thing I feel can't just be a coincidence. Eva's birthday being a few weeks apart from Kat could've just been Dana trying to hide the fact that she was a stolen baby. If Nicole found out her baby was alive she'd most likely look for a baby born that day, not a few weeks later. Love, love, loved the scenes with Vernon and Dani. I felt like this was one of Karla Mosley's strongest episodes. Clifton Davis brings the best out of anybody who has the luxury of a one-on-one scene with him. Hayley potentially being pregnant is a smart development. Bill and Hayley need something to keep them in the mix and that would be a good way to do it. I do think long term they need to build out something more for them. A sibling or friend for Hayley is going to be needed to deepen her character and make her motivations more clear. Bill at least has his daughters but since they don't like him, a friend wouldn't hurt.
Members Liberty City
Based on today's episode and recent dialogue, this is likely not happening at all.
Members ReddFoxx
A secret Dupree son could be incorporated by saying that Vernon and Anita had a child that was kidnapped but are too traumatized to talk about him. It's very Dynasty but it's the only way to add a child without saying one of the pair had an affair.
Members Taoboi
Well, I see someone is doing what they did in Week 3 by not having the episodes available again on all platforms. Ugh. So this is going to be one of THOSE weeks. It does make me wonder if that was a potential reason why there was a bit of drop rating-wise and hope that is not the case this week, but I digress. I feel that I've gotten used to Mondays on BTG to be set-up and table dressings for what the week will be. Sometimes it's just okay. Sometimes it's a nice slow burn. Today I am leaning toward...okay. But something did stand out. So you are telling me that Kat and Eva have the SAME birthday??? Oh, lord, don't tell me they really ARE twins? Silk Press Sheila, what did you do? lol. I guess my next question would be...how is Kat Nicole's miracle baby? I cannot wait to get all of the details. I liked that the episode was centered around Kat's birthday. I love that Martin showed up...and Kat loves Smitty for his gifts. I love that Ted and Martin are still picking on Tomas. And the rivalry between Kat and Eva continued...and Tomas is just making it worse. And we know I live for the Dupree family moments so their version of happy birthday was superb. And hehe at the Febreeze segment. I also thought that we were getting away with not having to do one of those. But DD and TT did a great job with it. Not the lawsuit being a C plot today. But I did like the Bill and Naomi scenes. I can say the same for the Dani and Vernon scenes. I loved that she was so honest with him. I was so sad with the coda and her making it home to drink. Le sigh. She's about to be a mess. NO to a Bill/Hayley baby. It is much, much, muuuuch too soon. Those scenes did nothing, but remind me how much of a whiner Hayley is. Decent start. I mean that could be easily done if they keep her in scenes with Caroline. Or if they feel she's too Bill-adjacent...Derek.
Members Contessa Donatella
She also said "After my first miscarriage..." which tells us there were probably two but it could be more!
Members Paul Raven
I think they need to make more of the final scene of the episode. Dani gets out the booze, takes a swig and a quick cut to the credits. It kinda takes away from the drama. They need to go for a soapier moment. Dani taking the drink and then the camera pans away and we emphasize her loneliness in the empty room-then a lingering close up, fade to credits. Maybe they are trying to be more up to date but it is a soap after all.
Members Liberty City
Some of the cuts are abrupt, but I appreciate they're not trying to follow what other, tired American soaps have done. They're trying to make their own impression; they don't have 40+ years of history they "must" follow because of previous regimes.
Members Vanguardian53
It wouldn't be difficult at all to create some initially unheard of family members. A manipulative treacherous Dupree son banished from the family a la Tracy Quartermaine for example?
Members Cheap21
I mean it might be too on the nose, but Eva would definitely fit. I can see that once she is outcasted by Nicole and Ted and feeling alone that they strike up a friendship bc of their similiarities which would make things even messier for Eva wanting to be accepted
Members janea4old
I like that it's unclear who Eva's biological parents are, and and that we have more than one theory. I assume that, over time, there will be more than one DNA test. I think that Nicole will (eventually) accept and welcome Eva to the family, regardless of who is proven to be Eva's biological parents.
