I don't mean to snark on an episode I mostly enjoyed but I love how understaffed this country club is when they host events (I already felt this way for the wedding but more here.)  Was "Sherrie" the only server around at all?  And she was a temp at that (I'll let it pass that there's no way she would have gotten that job so quickly, etc.)

Wasn't it established in a previous episode that Vanessa is friends with Nicole as well and not just Dani?  Where was she?  I laughed when Nicole invited her family up at the end and with the family all now on stage, literally the audience that was  there for apparently a Big Deal award cleared out so there was about 1/3 left...

She really did. She was giving va-va-voom!!! And that hair!!

Well to be fair, during the speeches (or just Dani's speech at least), when the camera panned out to the audience, there were other servers milling around and checking on guests at their tables. It was part of the reason I was amazed at such a minor detail.

But I don't know if they were around for all of the speeches. Will look when I rewatch later.

Silk whispering to Nicole when she was behind her during the speeches... Was so soapy and amazing. That's old-school level American daytime drama for you. Simply the best.

And I loved how the entire family laughed when she joked that her place is in Nicole's seat... As a patient. You know that when people laugh... It's the freaking truth.

So the Distinguished Service Award (same award that Vernon got years ago, they said) ... I guess it's for service to the community or something?  But then it was clarified as an award for psychiatry.... but such things ... wouldn't they have speakers about WHAT Nicole did in her service?  Community leaders?  Other doctors?

The fact that it was all family in attendance, with some extras, took me out of it.

Oh but the FASHIONS, the hair, the jewelry, the jewelry adorning the hair.  OUTSTANDING.

    • I'm pretty sure this ep is  from Dec 73 From the Daytime Serial Newsletter Ian and Valerie Northcote are deeply concerned over Laurie's  life being increasingly dominated by hallucinations and fantasies about Georgina, the former owner of the house the Reddins recently bought and are now living in. Doreen Post (Linda Purl) was involved in that story .Perhaps she was going to be revealed as Georgina's daughter? Wonder how that story evolved and whether it was wrapped up before cancellation? and thanks to @skylark

    • Many thanks to @skylark and @DRW50!
    • Thank u so much! I love that show and the more I see of it the more I want to find more of it even if it’s just in script form. But that house and especially the room looked like Victoria Winters room from dark shadows lol  this was great find! Thanks
    • I genuinely thought when they said she had been throwing up, we were going to get a pregnancy story. I’m actually not convinced we aren’t. Especially the way she and Doug danced around her own infidelity.
    • Shouldn't it be the other way? I don't think Taylor Hayes is playing Rebecca Budig.

    • And the most detailed discussion I've seen from an industry figure about some of JFP's worst choices as a producer (steamrolling over writers) was from another woman, Megan McTavish.
    • IMDb is definitely incorrect, because the final week of episodes in 1974 is uploaded to Youtube in audio form, and Mark and Laurie are there until the very end. The last episode shows Mark going back to the priesthood. I looked at the newspaper and the earliest reference to their house being haunted by Georgina is in December of 1973. This is dated Dec 14, but this same synopsis ran in the papers until the end of December in other publications. So it must have been within those last 3-4 months. I think Stephanie Braxton joined around 1969-1970 so that's probably right. I saw it stated in other newspapers that David Gale joined around September 1972.

    • Opal having siblings could add to the story. However, it raises questions about Tad's adoption. Why were the Martins allowed to adopt him if Tad had aunts or uncles who could have cared for him?  Logic limited the number of possible Gardner's (and whatever Opal's maiden name was).  Even though Linda Thorson would have been a hysterical choice given her British accent.  Especially because SOD often published questions by readers who wondered why Tad and Jenny didn't speak like their mother.   All of which is still not an excuse for Tad's evil doppelgänger Ted.
    • And if I remember correctly, at one point, they were considering having Linda Thorson play Opal's sister.
