Neither did I. I keep wondering what the big deal is, but that's just me. I'm just so happy that this show actually made it to daytime TV. I have high hopes the kinks will be smoothed out soon.

I agree. And I also want to point out - Dani Dupree is a character in her...  mid to late 40s. She is not a young girl who we always have to find excuses for. Add to that.. the fact that she chose to ignore Bill's other affairs... but suddenly when she is being humiliated in front of an audience by a friend of the family... (Hayley) - NOW she's got a problem with it. That to me screams that her current behavior is more connected to vanity, self-obsession and narcissism... than it is with actual HURT.

And yes... seeing how everyone acts around her... it seems that this disturbing behavior is a NORMAL happening in this house... a behavior that is... YES... going into extremes, because she can't process the fact that Bill deserted her for a young girl PUBLICLY. Yeah, it's cruel... what happened to her. Men cheat and leave women. Women cheat and leave men. And yes, sometimes friends fu-ck your husband. But that doesn't mean you now can... pull a gun out at a wedding... and people excuse you saying stuff like - Well she did it, because Bill hurt her... triggered her and etc. Well... if this was a viable excuse... then let's excuse all the criminals that do things out of passion and jealousy... they were also triggered.

That's not how the world works, THANK GOD.

Bill is NOT responsible for Dani breaking into people's houses, slapping people around and wielding golf clubs. SHE'S A GROWN woman. NOT A CHILD.  Bill is a jerk. Yes.  He chose a younger, cheaper, but probably, and from the looks of it - saner version of Dani. And I'll repeat - that doesn't mean that everything Dani does can be excused or justified with being deserted, cheated, triggered and etc.

Normal people don't act like this. There are people who have FAR bigger issues than Dani. There are people who lose their children... people who are battling horrible diseases and people who are escaping wars. And they still have their act together and remain dignified. They don't go into scary meltdowns and they don't pull out guns, just because they snapped.

And I should feel pity for a bish that can't move on and wants to terrorize other PEOPLE? A woman that has all the money and the connections she needs to continue her life? There are women who have NOWHERE to go after getting deserted like this. They don't have a Dupree family enabling them. They don't have MONEY. They are left on the streets. And they don't act like that.

I have more pity for the people she is harassing. Actually. Because you know what... cheating and stealing someone's husband is not illegal. It may become illegal some day, who knows... but it's not. It is disgusting, yes. Morally wrong, yes. A bad irresponsible man gets an erection... he cheats. END of story. BUT what Dani is doing perpetually is illegal. You can't beat people up, slap the sh-t out of them, threaten to kill them with a gun... and break into their houses... and then someone expects me to have empathy for that?!

No f-cking way.

I have empathy for the real victims of this world. Not Dani Dupree - the narcissist baby that everyone enables.

In my experience this is actually realistic. I live in San Antonio which has a heavy latino population and this is how all of my spanish speaking friends talk. I think it's called spanglish. Even myself I use certain spanish words just because it's so common.

They've done certain things to establish Ashley but haven't utilized them. Why didn't Naomi go to her friend Ashley to vent when she had issues with Jacob? Why hasn't Ashley talked to her girlfriend about the flirtation between her and Andre? Why did they give her a mom but never have them interact together? I still don't think the idea of a triangle is a bad idea but this storyline feels severely under-developed compared to the others on the show.

I've always felt this about them. I believe she is in love but I don't see an ounce of love from Bill. I feel like she was one of many affairs and he got stuck marrying her. I get JR/Cally vibes from them. I do think she's going to fight for a real marriage but you can't win when the man doesn't want you.

I hope and pray this doesn't happen. I don't want *any* rape stories. I feel like US soaps cannot do them correctly and I find it so offensive. If I could ban one type of story it would be this. I do not want anymore redeemed rapists which is a trope that US soaps cannot resist.

Im with Soaplovers. Dani didnt just turn crazy. I beleive she's always had her issues. The way that she talks about this dance with bill being their cycle implies they've been toxic to each other for quite some time but they always gin their way back to each other. They are very much like Sonny/Carly, Todd/Blair. The difference is Bill and Dani stayed married until Hayley. Im sure before she was spazzing out, obsessing over Bill's whereabouts, attacking the other women (if she knew them) and then run back to apologizing to Bill, wanting to be the perfect wife to save their marriage. He'd agree which put a bandaid on their problems. Hayley changed all that and Im not quite sure who left whom but either way its clear Dani has regret and wish the divorce hadnt been finalized

Now the drinking might be a new thing and that certainly hasnt helped

@Maxim Good assessment!

Im fairly confident that this show is not going to have a black man (one adjacent from the prominent family) rape a white woman. The optics for what this show is trying to achieve would just be too damaging to it. I dont see MVJ letting that fly on her watch

I don't know what needs to happen to make people realize what Dani is doing is dangerous. She is dangerous. Even to herself. People get admitted to psychiatric facilities for behaviour like this.

Will she have to push a pregnant Hayley causing her to have an abortion or something like that... Will she have to set their house on fire?

Anything is possible with a person like this. She won't stop. And it's clear her family will enable her till it's too late.

I grew up and live in a city that is 65 percent Hispanic and I'm also a bilingual teacher with a degree in ESL and language development. And while I can agree that it isn't completely uncommon that a native Spanish speaker might drop a Spanish word in an English conversation, it's definitely not how it's presented on TV for these characters. It's obvious that it's done for effect and to show that the character is Latino/a, but it reads very inorganic and awkward. This code switching in conversation is definitely more common among bilingual speakers to each other, but to non-Spanish speakers, the language of conversation tends to remain consistent. Again, it's my opinion, but it's reading very awkward and cringe for me....and it's not solely a BTG thing.

Another thing I disliked about Dani this week. Everyone tells her to not make Nicole’s program about her (why have her host it, then?), and she gets right up there and says, “I WAS TOLD TO NOT MAKE THIS ABOUT MEEEEEE, so let’s focus on Nicole!” Dani is a narcissistic bitch. I hope Hayley snaps one day, kicks her shoes off, and beats the fooking brakes all off of her. And yall, I hate cheaters! I was 16 when my dad did something similar to my mom (plus a baby!), so I do not easily root for the homewrecker, but when I tell you I need to see this girl wear her ass OUT.

The problem with Dani (and people like her) is that she grew up in a sheltered environment where, by virtue of her wealth and the societal standards of their circle, her narcissism has been only mildly addressed her whole life. Just a year or two in public school would have gotten her the character-building ass-whooping she needed to become a mature adult.

And a good different perspective. I can see the issue with the teenage kids, but at least it was already set up at the start by mentioning that Martin/Smitty adopted them young. So it did not jar me. Helped by them being great actors. Same on Karla with her daughters.

    • I skimmed some of the 1982 synopses; Steve was planning on an opening an office in Finland, and I think Jim went there as part of the preparation.
    • That makes sense. What a messy time for the show. And any changes they made were mostly for the worse.
    • The transition from Neal to Adam was very abrupt, and to be honest my theory is that the character of Neal was designed so that we think he is super shady but then it turns out that he was on the side of good all along so Neal could have seamlessly become a hero of the BCPD with no need for Adam. I don't know whether Robert Lupone was hired on a short contract or if he was fired from a longer-term contract because they decided they wanted someone who was more of a leading man type, but I can imagine a scenario where Charles Grant did both the undercover Egyptian treasure/flirt with Victoria and the straighter-arrow day to day police investigation. But in my imagined scenario the MJ prostitution plotline probably doesn't exist and instead he probably continues a relationship with Victoria. The story seems very odd to me. I assume that David Canary would have been included only because a plotline where Steve is going to Finland in which only Rachel is seen in actual Finland seems unlikely. The synopses explicitly mention that Alice can't go with Steve but would whoever was playing Alice at that time have had the kind of clout to get the remote cancelled? It also strikes me as unlikely that production would have approved the expensive location shoot and *then* cancelled it only because of jealousy. It seems more likely that they rejected it because of the expense but then the jealousy part got added to the gossip speculatively, possibly because while it was being worked out they justified not including more castmembers because of the expense.
    • My comment has nothing to do with cast resentment, but does relate to the Finland location shoot: It may be a coincidence, but Jim Matthews died in Finland in 1982.  Hugh Marlowe's final episode was in April 1982, but the character probably didn't die untll May or June. (I'm unable to find the character's date of death, only the date of Marlowe's final episode). SInce Jim and Rachel had very little interaction after around 1975, it is unlikely Jim's death in Finland had any connection to Rachel's potential visit, but the choice to have Jim die in that location at that time is a head-scratcher.  I'm sure the writers sent Jim on an extended trip (and off-screen) because of Marlowe's illness.  But Finland seems like a strange choice considering the (then) recently cancelled location shoot.
    • I totally understand your sloths concern about it and I agree with you. Let’s hope the show plays it’s cards right.    Further comments about the last few episodes: - I liked that one of the attendees was filming the scene. That’s realistic. I wonder if the writers will follow up with that.  - Martin and Smitty trying to drag Leslie out was very heteronormative, so perfectly in line with them two as characters lol.    As for the future: it’s obvious the Duprees will come to accept Eva one way or another, but the rivalry with Kay should be here for the long term   On the topic of acting: the only bad actors I’m seeing are Ted and Derek. Tomas hasn’t proven to be either good or bad, so far, but he’s certainly mediocre and uncharismatic. He sucks the energy out of the scenes and I don’t see any couple of women ever vying for him.
    • I’m trying to think which actors VW were working with at the time, and none of them had been there for a while. Even like Mac and Ada didn’t have that big of a part in Rachel’s storyline.  And Jamie was involved with all that movie stuff.
    • Brooke did ads before ATWT too. That probably helped get her the job. After ATWT she seemed to branch more into hosting, along with ads.  I think I saw Kelley in an ad or two, but you're right she wasn't on as much.
    •   Thanks for sharing these. I wonder if Charles might have been in the running for Adam. I know Preacher was a bit of a bad boy at times on EON, but Neal seemed to be a step down, and Robert Lupone had played a similar part on AMC. Given the huge cast turnover at this point I wonder who thought they had been there long enough to go.  Laura Malone/Chris Rich would get a remote within the next year.
    • Interesting.  It seems to allude to that statement that Warren Burton made around that time about some AW actors getting special treatment.  I wonder who was resentful about not getting to go.
    • Good morning, boys!  I figured that it was time that our Gio was introduced into the hotness thread
