BTG is fresh because of the newness

Dani is too much sometimes

I don't care about Ashley and Derrick

Martin is too controlling of Smitty

Some episodes of late seem like filler

I have the edit of yesterday. Under 7 minutes, all of Carly, some of Valentin & Brennan. Sonny, Jason & Anna were all in Carly's room so they're included. If you want the file it's in  my Drobox so easy. Otherwise, to view, my usual video hosting site, Clip name:

GH 3-19-25 Carly Poisoned

I might add: a whole bunch of money spent

Right now? No, I don't think so. But, I have been wondering if this story long-term might mean an eventual exit for her, ya know?

Today was Bit*h day! Brook Lynn toward Ma & Chase toward Lulu!!! WOW

So, speaking of Lulu, anyone else thinking that the Gatehouse is empty?

Unpopular opinion, I guess, but I think the show has been really good this week. A number of plots the show has taken time to set up--Brook Lynn and Dante's baby, Valentin and Brennan's Spy Vs. Spy thing--are finally paying off. And I think the show has been good about balancing its traditional strength--cliffhangery, plot-driven action stuff where someone pulls a gun on someone else, or someone ends up in the hospital when they're poisoned with Polonium--with quieter, character-driven moments.

The show is using a lot of its veteran actresses and their history really well. Tracy is the obvious case, but we also got a great scene with Felicia today talking about her own tumultuous time with Frisco in an attempt to convince Carly to dump Brennan. And even though Laura seemed a little too empathetic towards Valentin yesterday, I did love how she brought up her own past with Luke and Lucky to talk about the psychological tolll of a life on the run.

It's definitely not perfect, and sometimes plot points take precedence over character logic. As someone pointed out upthread, it makes no sense that Sonny wouldn't just shoot Valentin. But I do think GH is doing a lot right, and I'm enjoying it more than I have in years and years.

The only thing consistent about GH right now is how inconsistent and subpar it is. Sorry, but that is the truth; you can tell where Elizabeth Korte & Chris Van Etten are sitting there going "do this right now!" and changing things up as time moves along, and you can tell where Korte's favouritism is coming out to play (i.e., Carly), et al. I would dare say yes, GH has the strongest company of actors, but that is what you get when your [overstuffed] cast is filled with daytime veterans, whereas BTG has a more new-to-daytime cast of actors.

Most of BTG this week has been filler to me

I don't care about Derrick Ashley

Dani needs to grow up

Haley is on an island to herself

They hire Cady McClain a 3 time Emmy winner and have her be a talking too

Oh, you know I rag on GH all the time and agree with most of your statements.  I find BTG just much more uneven in acting and episode quality.  It's still finding its footing so I am hopeful and rooting for it.

    • I thought today was still good. Leo is always awful, but the characters treating him like he's a plague feeds my soul. Rafe in particular had been very passive about him, but today was wonderful seeing him put Leo on notice. I really think it's being written that Javi is going to have to eventually take the blinders off and see Leo for who he really is. Them having sex on Gabi's desk made me want to explode. Roman taking in stray Doug was nice to see. And the mention of Frankie and Max was unexpected, but good to know they're at least being thought of. Tate being petty and a bit vindictive by going back to Sophia's as soon as he saw Doug with Holly was entertaining for me. I think I actually like Tate the most out of all of them because he's so damn messy.  Is Holly about to be kidnapped? Her first time?
    • That would have saved the Anita singing segment -- having her by herself, singing quietly and reflectively. Belting it out like she was in church did not work. The black screens fade at the end was a mistake. BTG insists on being different with these fades for the sake of being different, and it's not working.   I thought all of that was just fine. Worked for me.   I'm going to disagree with this. Martin hasn't had many scenes with his parents, but he's been around family A LOT -- and that's what matters. We also know Martin is someone with a hair trigger response. He can be very emotional when discussing an issue before getting to the logic and reason of it all.
    • My view of Evan is that he's smart but not as smart as he thinks he is, not a good guy but not an entirely bad guy - he's a lot of things, the show never quite knowing what to do with them. I never saw him as Iris' follower because Iris always seemed a bit in over her head from the start.
    • She was the Town Historian, who knew a bit too much about Brandon and the infamous cottage.  SF was still a pretty normal place at that time, with Nola and Reva being the most outrageous citizens....seems that Carrie Pipper would have stood out a bit more for people.

    • Yes, I need to dot hat. Also on my list talking to the person I got these files from since they clearly have a mess, in terms of dates being wrong. And, unfortunately finding one date wrong, automatically means more are wrong, too.
    • I'm hoping that it doesn't happen. If the show keeps putting out good performance and story it will be hard to shut it out. Daphnee, Trisha, Ambyr and Colby are earning nominations without question.
    • Speaking of correcting dates, since you mentioned it above, why don't you go back to your Saturday post and edit it and replace your wording of "DAYS Ruth Buzzi 11-2-83"  with "DAYS Ruth Buzzi 11-1-83" and add a note that the video has the wrong date of 11/2/83 on it, and that the video is actually 11/1/83.
