Did Dr. Ted clock the Thomases at the hospital elevator? They were much better at home than in that painful meet cute at the hospital explaining who they are and what they do. Andre did not have to come back to the blindingly white hospital hub just to have the same exact scene with Ashley as yesterday, followed by the duty nurse giving more exposition lol.

Martin is very cute, but he didn't exactly put over much of his often clunky dialogue. The civil rights discussion with Vernon was worthwhile but Martin continues to approach scenes as though he is informing Southwest passengers where the emergency exits of the airplane are. Of course, most of his dialogue was pure exposition. So far he's more wooden than Mike Manning, but hopefully the actor can find a groove. Nor did they need to keep talking about Martin's mysterious dreams vs. just showing one (as AMC 2.0 did early on with Celia Fitzgerald, whose mystery will sadly never be solved).

The rest of the show flowed better, was more organic dialogue-wise and performance overall. Karla and Tunie got much stronger dialogue today and KM had nuance for me. Daphnee carried as mentioned and her dialogue with her husband and poor Hayley, while at times explaining plot, still felt much more organic and natural than Day 1. Solid enough for me.

I did crack up when Hayley doffs her leopard print coat to reveal a transparent titties-out top for work. They may be dressing her as the homewrecker but to their credit so far she is not being written as one.

It definitely seems like the show is finding it's footing, beat by beat! It will be interesting to see how the week concludes.

Ashley and Andre definitely have better chemistry then her and Derek, and I felt more spark with Ashley today then on yesterday's show.

Nicole not having anytime for Haley was hilarious, her and Bill are definitely a piece of work. I wouldn't want to cross Vernon or Anita if I was Bill. It's also refreshing that the family seems to hold the man accountable for the affair which is something you don't see ever on say B&B. It's gonna be quite the showdown tomorrow with Dani and Bill based on the ending! LOL

Eva and her mother, they are social climbers and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do! I guess Eva's mother had a past with Nicole's husband? gotta have the folk from the wrong side of the tracks, if that's what they are?

I thought Martin and Smitty were cute. A kiss would have been nice, but I do think it was intentional they didn't show too much affection...I'm looking forward to seeing their kids too.

I'm in agreement with everyone that some of the character's look way too young to be parents to 20 or 30 somethings, but at the same time, I feel like this is a throwback to B&B and even Passions where most of the actors playing the parents would be way too young to have kids at certain ages. I know Mike Manning is 37, and I'm assuming the actor that plays Martin is around that age or a little younger. The actor playing their son is 20 IRL I think, so it kind of gives me flashbacks to Passions when you had a 37/38 year Eva Tamargo play a mom to 5 grown kids, two of them at least pushing 30 and the others playing teens. Although at the same time I think people tend to look younger these days too so that doesn't help.

Who were the two assistants of Nicole who had that conversation together? are they contract players, the older one looked like Bessie from the first episode? I love even the recurring/dayplayers are getting good airtime!

    • That was my point really. These anniversary party scenes are the first ones, and now they won't be able to use them (meaning these actual scenes, as aired, with OG Ted). They can recreate them but I doubt they will spring for all the extras to come back and film and recreate everything, so it will be more like tight closed in shots of Ted with one or two other actors, or snippets of Leslie's original speech where Ted wasn't visible. It would be hard to recapture the original energy of the scenes are as they were filmed in their full context. I just think that's too bad, but maybe they will prove me wrong. I never really saw what was so off in his portrayal to warrant a recast, anyway, so that colors my perception as well.
    • Yeah, and quite honestly, are there really that many scenes that are flashback-worthy at this point in the run?
    • I know at one point they were on Hulu & i-Tunes. I just checked it on JustWatch.com & it indicates 1 season on Prime Video & on AppleTV. Have fun!
    • That era is so weird...they made a big deal out of all three of those characters and then they just..disappeared! Not that I am complaining. We talk about the bad out of character writing for Alex under JFP..but this was one example that may have led them to write her being so obsessive with Nick.  WHY would Alex accept Flock of Seagulls guy as her brother? They had her in one scene (setting up the Alan return) complain that Alan abandoned her...she blackmailed him into leaving town and she had been angry at him for helping Brandon with Lujack and also using Spaulding for that dumb dreaming death thing. Endless scenes of her with Simon, I can't believe Bev wasn't bored to death! I would also add Pam writing the scene where she lets Ms. Sally die in front of her to protect Alan and  the writing for Alex could be screwy even before JFP.
    • On this day 34 years ago the final episode of Dallas and came in at an astonishing #2 in the ratings after two straight seasons of weak ratings. Interesting Knots was #27 for that week as well:

    • Thank you for clearing that up. I wasn't watching GL regularly yet at that point, but seems to me I should have remembered the big wedding after Leslie's death (which I do remember) described in the profile. Is there a web archive of SOD summaries, or are referring to your own personal collection?
    • I was bummed that 2.0 ended because Mcpherson (headwriter) had really set up some interesting stories and we never got to find out where the stories would go once they resumed production on 'season 2'. I remembered the EP (Ginger Smith) and a lot of the stars gave a lot of credit to McPherson being able to come in on very short notice and come up with stories/plots (I think it was a very short turnaround time of a few weeks).  It was nice that she got to redeem herself after her year long Days stint was not well reviewed/liked.

    • It seems like a setup for failure to review a single episode of a soap, but Cleveland Amory was a foolish man.  His taste was so predictable, that one wondered why bother reviewing a medium he so clearly disliked. (found on Facebook retro TV group) Another case in point of his misogyny from his review of Dark Shadows (Can you imagine the magazine with the widest circulation in the country insulting its customer in this way today?)

    • They could easily be re-created, or even re-shot in different ways, especially if they were re-shooting scenes at some point, as well.
