Picking up with yesterday's episode is good it has lots of exposition and plot actually moved.

The logistics must be horrendous and it must heavily influence how the writers plot out the week - if they are still mapping out a week at a time in the traditional way.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas they were finishing the season and shooting up to 3 episodes a day. And now they are dark two weeks a month instead of one to save money. Maybe we will finally close the shooting to air gap.

The Belle/Marlena scenes were really good. Belle breaking down and talking about stupid she’s been lately was the best part of today. And this was also a great way and the right way to use Marlena. But again they missed an important mark; Belle pointed out that Fake Rafe raped Sami but yet still hasn’t mentioned the fact that she was screwing the other guy who raped Sami. That’s an important dynamic that needs to be explored. 

But at the same time, I feel like Days has been handling the subject of rape with a lot more care lately. And honestly, that doesn’t seem very Ron-like to me. Maybe this was another factor that played into his firing. 

I feel like Janet Drucker stepped in a lot there. Having a female EP instead of an abusive male is a big difference. I think she also changed Johnny and Joy from sex to just near sex.

I have no words for Brady. Isabella would be ashamed.

 

I hate when characters just don't articulate the obvious like Rafe today.  Instead of explicitly stating he has no memory of anything even his own name we have scenes and scenes of him just saying he has no idea what anyone is talking about.  I know it's to keep the plot going or whatever, but a simple declaration from Rafe would have helped Shawn and Jada along with this.

Did I miss why they can't compare Arnold's DNA to Gabi to see if they're related?

Controversial opinion: I think this is a creative take on the old troupes of evil twins and amnesia.

I mean if it is Arnold that shoots EJ and then frames Rafe, it will be fun to see how they clear him.  It might also pave the way for a Rafe and Belle pairing, which could work (unless thye bore each other to tears).

Or that there haven't been numerous case of the Dimera's using the memory serum on people?  I am perfectly willing to suspend disbelief on a lot of things that happen in Salem.  I just don't understand why Rafe isn't saying he has no memory of anything before he woke up at the house.

All to stay 9-10 months ahead. It's insane. The #1 thought always seems to be how to save a dollar. The show looks it.

 

I may drop Days until the new writers start in April. I'm already watching BTG, BB, and GH.

Also, I know ethics are not a concern in the Salem Universe, but Kayla's going to run a DNA sample without the patient's consent or a court order?  No wonder that hospital is going bankrupt, their liability insurance must be extremely expensive, and they run DNA tests for free.

That thought has crossed my mind too.

EJ ordering Fake Rafe not to sleep with Jada, and how he had "evolved" over the years was the first thing that didn't seem Ron-like to me. 

And I've always suspected that it wasn't just B&S that led to firing.
