I'm just wondering how many more characters will Sidwell now bring along with him:

Say what we will about even lower lights like the Balkan or Anthony Zacchara, there was a specificity to those villains and who they were and they made actual moves, and most had a relatively short shelf life even when some of them were pure cartoons (like Anthony). Even Faith Rosco, who is deeply problematic today, was a force to be reckoned with and could be scary as hell.

Frank's villains today are all just these mid character actors* he likes who can't quite project any menace, yet hang around forever trying to garner sympathy to extend their stay while continuing to commit mostly weak crimes. What did Cyrus even do for years after blowing up the bar? Just stands around whining about his dead parents and then becoming born again. It's weak. And it's gonna be the same thing all over again.

(* - and it's sad for me to say that, because Jeff Kober was the king of playing weird creeps in the '80s and '90s lol. But he comes off like a feeble old man as Cyrus.)

He will absolutely be the excuse to bring on Natalia's musician son who Mulcahey mentioned, and who knows, maybe the return of Blaaaaazzzzeee. Cue the next two years of scenes where Sidwell weeps for his lost relationships with his children while also I don't know, sending thugs after Jason and Sasha.

Me too. That was the role most suited to him as he could generally brood and provide the right atmosphere for the show, when he wasn't man #394 in love with McMurphy.

I do feel a little bad for the actress who played Blaze that they are bringing in her whole family and shitcanned her. I'd rather they just write them all out for the sake of fairness.

I'd actually give him a rundown of facts on Port Charles, which is more than most actors can say

But, you know, he works in a restaurant where most chefs do lol.

Yes, Anthony and the Balkan made bold moves but I would argue they were old, crazy, and slightly feeble.  Nothing menacing enough to truly be a threat that Sonny and Jason couldn't work their way out of.

Faith was a much better base character as a villain.  Even if she was used as basically a weird revenge sex toy.  I think the show was trying to get there with Selina Wu, but she's so monotone I don't really listen to what she is saying.

But did Kober always speak in such an odd way?  The cadence of his speech bothers me so much and I don't know if that's a Cyrus thing or I just need to listen to Kober talk very slowly and pronounce words strangely.

I was going to say I don't expect her back, but I wouldn't be shocked if Frank has her appear at Pride Month or something just to make sure everyone knows she and Kristina will never reunite again. I don't care about her at all, but I would nuke the entire family.

I have said it before and I will say it again: Selina Wu is a case study in not elevating too many dayplayers. That woman has one tone of voice and the range of a water pistol. I love using the Asian Quarter and all but you need better actors. All she does is slink around showing up at people's homes or restaurants asking for their petty cash. Don't get @Darn started on this, believe me.

I mean the Balkan had a pretty massive global apparatus, lol. And that story got real silly. But at the end of the day he was in and out in maybe a year after getting up to a lot of crazy shít. Anthony was a pure cartoon they did keep around because they loved Bruce Weitz, but at least they kept him locked up a lot of the time til the end. Unlike Cyrus or Sidwell, who just stroll around town while Anna and Laura say things like 'our hands are tied' and they show up at Kelly's weeping for their lost families.

Claudia would probably not be remembered nearly as well if not for her big exit, which I think only came about because Sarah Brown may have fallen out with JFP, Guza, etc. It was a great conclusion to a rambling, meandering storyline which also vacillated between her being sympathetic (I remember some wacky, stupid virus hijinks with Claudia, Jason, Spinelli and Monavie) vs. pure evil. Nonetheless Sarah played the character to the hilt and Claudia made real moves, and in the end she was out in under two years. Nobody Frank introduces today has the kind of impact of even the weakest Guza villain.

I still can't believe Daniel Benzali and the dude who played my favorite "Hill Street Blues" character, Sgt. Belker, were once on this show (and wasted in thankless, short-term roles as Sonny's Villains of the Month).  JFP tried SO hard to be Steven Bochco in a skirt, lol.

    • Great episode, better than what the spoilers said. The gambling story was tolerable but Jon Lindstrom sucks in the role. Ambyr Michelle continues to shine. The diner and country club scenes were very well executed.  The Jan and Leslie scenes were very good! My favorite is Eva, now followed by Nicole.
    • Today's show was good. The only part I didn't care for were the Derek/Ashley scenes. I think they are bland together and Derek is very bland by himself. He is the least interesting character on the show IMO. I don't think they have much chemistry together. I appreciated Jan's reaction to Leslie. I like how regular/realistic her and Mona are as characters. Jan came across as very believable of being appalled and even hurt by Leslie's treatment of them and towards Eva in the diner.  Leslie continues to try and manipulate people with IMO her fake caring routine, only to show her true colors after she's confronted/called out for her treatment of others. I continue to dislike the way she mistreats Eva. Speaking of Eva she was great again today. I love her and I like how Martin comforted her in the diner. I liked that Vernon showed concern for her as well. They (especially Martin) will come around quicker to her before others (like the Dupree women) will. I also am glad to see her and Ted continue to bond and him behaving like a father towards her/helping her. He's the only one in her life who is fully trying to stand by her. I look forward to seeing their relationship grow.
    • Xander was screaming at Felicity.  He did do something wrong.  Felicity was clearly upset by it and Cat/Chad told him to stop.  That's fair.  No one deserves to be yelled at their job-and even I think this plot point is too preachy.  It's not acceptable behavior for anyone to do that.
    • When Derek finally appears with only a towel, and his chest and pecs/nipples are finally shown, I say yes.

    • Now, actually not. That thought had not even made it into my head, so, no, so far anyway, I've not seen that. Haven't seen today yet. What you're describing is warped & I think she's feeling genuine empathy & sister bond.
    • Xander was the bigger person apologizing to Cat when he didn't do anything wrong.  he wasn't yelling at Felicity whatsoever, he was asking if she possibly had given them the wrong order by mistake.  He was trying to get to the bottom of what was going on, but Chad/Cat were trying to white knight Felicity even though Felicity was being treated just like anyone else in that situation.   She was the one to bring the order out to them, and usually the person that brings the order out is the one that puts the order together.    I'm still getting a read on the Cat character.   I think she seems to work well when interacting with everyone other than Chad.   Perhaps the new writers can move Cat out of Chad's orbit into another orbit. Paulina has been written quite well the few times she's been on since the writer change.  I think Jackee is enjoying the new writing.. you can tell when she's on screen.
    • LOL - well, Peter was included in the grandkids' section, each named specifically with their $100K trusts.  It must have been the abs...

In Henry's will, he said it had to do with Hart having a chance at being a better person than his father, since his father isn't providing for him (I'm paraphrasing here, but it was about Roger).  Still a little surprised...
    • I'm glad the truth is all out regarding Roman and Kate's secrets from each other, and also happy Roman didn't make much of the letter forgery, because why would he even care? They are a good solid couple. However, not to be mean, when Roman had his little flashback at the DiMera mansion he seemed more like an old man that was lost. How wonderfully aggravating that we still don't know what the hell happened with Johnny the night EJ was shot. I can't wait to find out. I've my feelings clear on Paulina, but she was definitely written much more adult and Jackée even seemed a bit toned down, for the better. Nothing boring about either scenes for me. I like the little drama between Xander and Cat, for the newness of the interaction alone. AnnaLynne McCord is much better at material where she's not acting dementedly lovesick. Seeing that side to Cat was integral to remembering she's not a moron, and I am definitely intrigued by the heck could be calling her. Kevin Lambert returning is a cute little surprise. I never watched Chadwick Hopson in the role though, was he any good?

    • I would love if Sarah were already pregnant and then, even with the reveal that she knew about the letter, that she and Xander would work on things to keep their family intact. But I fear that time is running out. Whatever Philip is doing is probably going to mess up everything. I do like that Kayla and Sarah mentioned the Horton legacy with the hospital and that Kayla would much prefer Xander financing it over EJ. Xander is suddenly Horton adjacent. Belle is as usual a massive hypocrite whining about 'everything' Xander has done to her family when EJ raped her sister, kept her cancer ridden toddler from her, helped Nicole keep the baby she had stolen from Sami for a year, shot her dad in the head, and as recently as last year railroaded her innocent teen nephew into prison where he was beaten up. Sure, Xander shot Brady and Marlena but both of them seem to be over it. Cat should have just graciously accepted Xander's apology. I actually like that he treated Felicity like anybody else and did not coddle her. I hope we see him apologizing though. I wonder if Cat knows that Xander shot their granddad Kon dead last year? She might like him better if she knew. I wonder who is calling her? My money is on Gwen for some reason. I feel like Cat and Chad will get comfy and then we will find out Abby is out there and Gwen has had her. EJ and Cat were far more palatable than Chad and Cat, but EJ makes everybody easier to tolerate. Roman and Kate vs Johnny and Paulina... not sure which were more boring. I guess I'll go with Roman and Kate because he speaks so darn slowly now. Philip is entertaining the heck out of me. I hope he ends up the hero who saves Bo. I think it would be hysterical if he managed to get his hands on the Versovix and EJ ends up buying a useless money pit of a hospital.
