Living in the time we do live in & looking at the way things seem to be going in regard to LGBTQ+ characters & storytelling, it's true that things seem dire. If Frank at GH cannot see his way clear to tell a simple story of a gay teen being bullied for it, then, this to me is yet another problem at GH. It's bad enough that they have diluted stories of race, ethnicity, color. If that  kind of disappearing of story is to apply to LGBTQ+ also then I truly fear for our soaps. That is one example.

The example of DAYS is another question. Supposedly the diversity soap, where are the gay characters & gay stories. They had a remarkable opportunity in Challie, which they badly bungled. Recently I floated the suggestion that GH might give Kristina back a romantic life & wouldn't it be grand if she was in a triangle where it was Kristina, being a bisexual, with Blaze and also with Blaze's brother & this person I was speaking with mocked me, saying sure you think that DAYS couldn't do it justice but you think these writers at GH could?!!!

ATWT using "Tears Are Not Enough" during 1985's July 4 episode made me think about Hands Across America, which took place less than a year later. Suppose some of the shows acted like how they did with early Day of Compassion observances (i.e. wear AIDS ribbons but not necessarily mention it). In this case, a show could have a normal enough episode, but characters are also standing in the local chain. Which shows do you think would do something like that?

Not sure where to post this question, but this thread seems like it might be an okay area:   Does anyone still post on Danfling's Soap Opera Message Board?  I was a regular poster there for many years (despite Danfling's insistence that only soaps produced in NYC are "real" soap operas). I always just ignored all that, and discussed whatever I wanted to, and Danfling never deleted or censored my questions/comments.

But I digress. The last time I was on his message board, I caught a virus on my laptop.  And because of the chain of events, it was obvious the virus originated from that message board.  So I haven't been back. I think his message board was/is using very old technology that did/does not screen advertisers or pop-ups for possible corruption.

Anywhoo, anyone still post there?  How's the conversation?
