Members Liberty City
What a random appearance; also, hating the lineup of stars. I would remove Maurice Benard, Cameron Mathison & Laura Wright; and would replace them with Genie Francis, Brook Kerr & Maura West (for selfish reasons).
Members Soapsuds
GH is running scared. It's because BTG is coming! Funny that JHud airs on CBS here right after BTG airs. Members DRW50
They won't make any effort to actually showcase their black cast but will put them on the Jennifer Hudson Show. It likely shows they don't think Beyond the Gates is actual competition. Given the minimal amount of viewers for soaps now, they probably aren't wrong, but they have given a lot of their fans every reason to move (at least if the likes of Guza and Carlivati weren't there).
Members Vee
On the contrary, I think this move is absolutely about GH knowing they now have competition, and trying to shore their Black/CBS crossover audience up with this token appearance (and tossing in DT and Tanisha Harper). But I do think longtime brand loyalty is very strong for the audience at what's left of GH, so it's gonna be a tough fight no matter what. Ron doesn't concern me. He is relegated to breakdowns, he has no creative control and isn't writing scripts. And Guza has a certain skillset I think suits a show well (especially a new one trying to make waves). But this Is ultimately MVJ's show, not his - he's her co-HW, but this is her creation. What it does and where it goes is ultimately down to her first IMO, and a lot will also fall on the dialogue staff. (Which, like @Khan, makes me wish they would persuade Mulcahey to come aboard on that level despite the fact that I believe the entire dialogue staff is Black.) Members DRW50
Nothing against MVJ, it's just when two people who work with/for you took over longtime shows and ruined them beyond recognition, I'm going to be wary. I think ABC is somewhat concerned, but if they were really concerned, they'd have made more changes. Instead, they seem to have only marginalized their black characters further.
Members Vee
I dunno. Inertia is a hell of a thing.
Members DRW50
I suppose they may feel the only audience they have left are old conservative white people. I would like to say they are wrong...
Members Vee
I think they absolutely believe that. Which explains their terrified response to Sprina, their swimming in circles on key actors and story, and the numerous pointed comments that they don't listen to Twitter but to 'other social media outlets'.
