11-8

Thursday and Friday were easily the highlights of a pretty good week.

Where do I even begin with this episode though? My easy favorite...Nikki in the foreground with Victor blurred in the background...a quisessential Y&R camera angle if ever I've seen one. With a slow (not quick cut) fade into a flashback. OMG!!! YES!! Old style Y&R is back.

The introduction of the new/old ranch set. Other than one camera blubber...cuz I could have sworn in the original scene the table set was in the background, not the piano...it was perfection. And omg the space!!! It was superb. With that little hallway with the doorway...itching to make me go and explore it so I love Adam doing just that in the background. lol. The pictures!! The windows and the angles!!! The staircase cuz you know I love stairs!!! It looked so beautiful, and brighter, but yet richer. I am looking forward to seeing so much of this set and how the camera angles will be on it.

And then the flashbacks!!!! I was just a babe when Victor and Nikki started so I loved them. Their vibe. Their easy chemistry. How sophisticated they looked, and their words were. And yes...all those Nikki hairstyles...lol. You could see how much history their house had. And those old Y&R cues...Mmmmm. My heart! And speaking of my heart...yes, the Victor during Nikki's pixie cut era could still get it. Just WOOF!! And speaking of EB, I had never seen that one flashback of him by the fireplace...just WOW. The vulnerability of Victor Newman on display. Kind Victor yes. Big Boss Victor yes. But vulnerable where you see the essence of him...back to little boy Christian who had no one and was scared to show weakness NEVER. EB nailed that scene with that tremble in his voice because he didn't want Nikki to see him that way. That whole scene...just wow. And then the other flashback where Nikki refused to take Baby Victoria and leave the house. And I had seen parts of the Victor destroying the liquor bottles flashback, but I guess I had never seen it in full because EB was bringing the intensity, and you could see/feel the hurt while MTS brought the dramatic cry. Just so many great flashbacks that showed not only their relationship, but the history of the house.

I admit to being a little worried about the episode being centered on the ranch, so good to see Victor involved his children in the reveal. And also revealing that would be the setting for Abby's wedding. That immediately has my mind thinking about how direction is going to go and camera angles and I'm super excited. And then to see Victor and Devon talk. One thing I do like about Abby/Devon together is that it reintroduced the Victor/Devon friendship which is one of my early memories of watching the show more frequently.

Can we do the Chancellor Mansion next? For too long it has been too small. And if this remodel is a sign of things to come and excellent use of space, I'm sure wonders will be done if that was next.

And NEXT WEEK...I'M GETTING MY WISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND...JILL WITH THAT HAIR!!! YES, PLEASE.

Yes, they were.

I loved the flashbacks from the 1980s and 1990s.

Oh yes, be still my heart too. EB and his late 1990s glow up when he got very handsome

That was all one scene. We saw it during the classics (Katherine facelift episode). Victor pushing Nikki away because of his groin injury and Nikki refuses to go.

They both felt like a dash of the old school Y&R. And I'm sure a lot of old school Y&R fans would love Friday's episode.

I know!!! It was the first time I've seen those so I enjoyed them so much. Cool that one scene was all in one scene. I still worked during Lockdown so I missed out on the majority of Y&R classic episodes so that is good to know. Y&R had a style like no other and those scenes are good examples of why people were drawn in. The acting. The style. The music. The direction. Brought all together it gives a beautiful picture.

OMG! Yes. The glowup. EB has a presence in all the flashbacks, but those from that time. Just...Mmm. There's a strong vibe that 'hey, Nikki! I get it!'

I agree. While I'm enjoying it (I can think of three things in today's episode that was old school Y&R) and the nostalgia that is coming with it...it could be soooo much better if JG was out.

That said...it does appear he might be finding his flow again.

Love.

ALL OF THIS!!!!

I’m finally all caught up as well, both Friday and today’s episodes were definitely classic throwbacks indeed.

I think one highlight I hadn’t seen mentioned yet for me of Friday’s episode was seeing Victoria, Nick, Adam and Abby actually all come together and actually act like siblings for a change, something I don’t ever remember seeing in like ever lol.

One thing I will give JG credit for (and I figure this one has a lot to do with Scott as well) is for the most part when it comes Y&R nostalgia it’s always a home run.

Today’s episode 11/11 worked as well for a follow-up for both Thursday and Friday.

Ashely’s back, Jill’s back, and is crazy Sharon about to write “I HATE MYSELF” on Phyllis’ mirror after gaining access with a maid’s key…? This week I’m actually looking forward to for a change!

It's wonderful having a big set like the ranch back. No spoilers at all but, in the Canadian episode it was just nice seeing Nikki drinking tea on that sofa and then in the next scene she's out in the solarium looking out the window.

Must be nice for the actors as well to just have room to walk around and stuff.
