Well, if Carnes was offered a full-time, contract status, I doubt they'd change story too much. It's probably just not viable to have an east coast-living actor in a contract role. But, by Van's words, it sounds like he is actively filming with him. He only returned to New York this past Saturday, so....

Someone in Antarctica who she can go quest for in the frozen tundra, offscreen.

Making a pointless character related to popular characters (or needlessly recasting a forgotten character, like Wagger) doesn't make them less pointless.

That and budget.

There's no place for gay characters on today's GH besides plot devices like Brad. There was never any real place on GH for gay characters. Somehow the most effective is still poor Jon Hanley, who died 30 years ago. Lucas has no real ties to anyone on the canvas (he's not going to get story from hugging Carly or Maxie) and is just a PR exercise. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gone by spring.

It would be nice if Holly had another reason to pop in, but I agree there's not much story purpose to tie Sasha to any old characters. If they want to do that, they should come up with someone from the show's first few decades, to help celebrate the anniversary.

Speaking of wording...lol. Don't tell me all of this found liver for Lulu section of the Lulu storyline has been because Cyrus pulled some strings. Plans within plans. That said I actually did like the Cyrus vs Martin scenes. The shade flew. Speaking of which, the KFC mention given how people felt about MEK's accent and the voice coach mention took me out.

Quartermaines, Quartermaines everywhere!!! I'm not hating on it, but I do feel two ways about it. I don't like that Tracy and BLQ are reduced to this silly Violet storyline and Tracy being as has been mentioned one dimensional. However, it does appear to be hinting at something else for BLQ that has made me curious. I cannot believe we are back to this ELQ storyline with the shares. I liked Ned's idea which was a sound idea for Generation Next who are mostly on canvas and a bit of cute foreshadowing given where the plot is going with Lulu. On the other hand, I would be more invested if I still cared about the Drew/Willow storyline...which no longer has any drop of investment in it (or for me). Even Nina appears to have vanished from it. So in a battle between Drew and Ned, I'm already Team Ned...which is sound because Drew is plotting behind his back just as much as Ned is plotting behind his. And even more delicious is the fact that when it comes out about Drew/Willow, Michael is going to feel stupid going along with Drew at all. So...#TeamNed.

I really truly liked how Q-centered this episode was. A nice break from the Sonny mess.

I continue to love seeing Liz at all times.

I loved seeing her all over the place. I love how we continue to see Dante's POV. And look at Isaiah getting into the doctor spirit.

That said...that ending. smh. I am finding my feelings are starting to feel mixed about what's coming to Sam. I admit to being surprised. After all, like a lot of you, she really has not been doing anything.

However I did like Sam/Dante before PM came along. I loved he gave them layers and their blended family. I loved the potential of Lulu waiting up and seeing how it would fall out. Not to mention what was going on before Lulu 'went to sleep.' I had already envisioned the catfights. lol. That said, it is probably the fact of how it is going down in real time as well as why. And I suspect the scene will make me see a bit of red.

I think Lucas has plenty of ties and they actually invested in them much more when Carnes returned in the 2010s than ever before - Carly, Bobbie, the unnecessary Jerome/Sam stuff, etc. were all key to his story and interaction back then. My problem isn't with Lucas, who isn't extraneous but with GH and storytelling. At the height of Lucas' pretty heavy use in the Carlivati years it was still with dudes like Brad and Felix who I felt were beneath him, but since then it's been diminishing returns and random lip service.

Today I have no faith in them seriously investing in any LGBT characters beyond B or C-story or recurring players like Brad and Terry; if they want me to buy into that change they'd have to show me.

I would agree with this in another era (or maybe on a show beyond what GH has been for the last 20-25 years) but not as much here. Sam is going and Bobbie is gone, so that mostly leaves us with Carly, who is just an energy suck to the point where they can only keep her viable by throwing new men at her and more Jason nostalgia for a pairing that last had any real fan interest three Carlys ago.

Lucas returning rather than effort being made on a new character is the easiest form of lip service - they can hide behind the fan value his last name once had and then assume people will lose interest in a week...those who ever had any interest anyway.

I also tend to wonder if casting an openly gay actor is a big red flag that they never had any plans to provide real story for Lucas this time around. The only times Lucas had shreds of storyline, straight actors were in the part.

Hmmm I wouldn't say that. While it probably very well will end up lip service, I thought it showed some commitment to have Lucas have scenes with Ava which I admit I felt he barely had scenes with her at all, but then again I had stopped watching GH regularly during RC's last year and through Passante.

I do feel going forward he will have scenes with Carly cuz Korte to keep him relevant, but I feel he will continue to have some scenes with Ava as well. And probably Third Place being Maxie.

Now...will he have story? Now while people care because it is a gay character, most will focus on that question simply because Lucas is a legacy character. But I might be answering my own question cuz...FV.

    • The show has gone back to 10/10 entertainment! I'm glad that I was right in feeling that what were experiencing were growing pains. I'm sure they are not over yet, but I'll know that we always comeback to quality drama. I think it's going to be a hell of ride (in a good way) from this moment on. BTG has that magic that not a lot of shows have. I'll update more... when I'm done catching up.
    • So very glad to hear this. Yesterday I suddenly thought; OMG, what about spoilers, have I just  ruined things for Maxim in getting carried away with interest in Evan, who was so well-written & well-acted. BTW, your fan review of this episode was a sight for eyes that had not seen one of these for a little bit too long, LOL!!!  Mitch is also fascinating to me but in his case it's because he was all in with Janice & her nefarious plan & then he did this turnabout we've mentioned & he basically got off scot-free.
    • It does seem cheap and lazy for this show to have just one family. Passions was heavily criticized but it was nicely structured with a total of four families.
    • I think it was definitely a surprising reveal in the storyline. I had a hard time appreciating Evan because I couldn't get behind his interest in Amanda. But that's because I never thought Sandra Ferguson made her a compelling character (although to give her credit she occasionally had decent emotional scenes with Mac or Rachel).
    • I'll even go further... I'll make her re-think BeLief and create a new patent. Brooke needs stuff to do. Anything other than beg or be in her panties. We need her to be creative. But sadly Bradley has a very low opinion of these characters. To him Brooke is nothing more than sex and scandal... or a pathetic doormat. Ridge is nothing more than a chauvinist pig that needs to pit women against each other to feel like A MAN and Steffy is nothing more than her father's guard-dog. I don't even want to open my mouth about Hope. She is such a fiasco in my opinion... I will not suffer if they kill her off. Bradley pooped on her character and now it's too late to fix it. Annika is great and I would hate to see her go, but slutty Hope was not her thing. The vibe was missing.
    • I've seen Jason interact with Mitch and annoy him. That's as far as I recall. I didn't even have a slight idea that Evan had a vendetta against Rachel... That came as a surprise to me. I thought Evan was Iris's dog and that's it. Now he's definitely more interesting.
    • Thanks for these. I can't recall -- did Evan's vendetta have any position on Mitch, or was it all about Rachel? @Maxim have you seen any Frames intreracting with Mitch in any way?
    • Thank you for the tag! It's always a pleasure to see these little pearls of memories.
    • Uh-oh. Today just might’ve been the first Paula/Jeanne stinker. I have a feeling whose fault that might be though. So, Doug III is getting a job at the Pub?  It’s good to see him interact with other characters. I enjoyed his scenes with Roman, even though the talk of Frankie and Max seemed a little random. And it also could be really interesting now that Tate knows. Days really need to start pushing their rivalry again. We need some follow up from the punch. Tying it all to Holly, to Sophia’s pregnancy, to the guys that Doug III owes money to could be good.  But yeah, wayyy too much Leo again in today’s episode. Seriously, has anything changed with this nothing character? I thought it was all Ron’s fault, but maybe Greg Rikaart is (partially) responsible for Leo being so insufferable.  And yeah seriously, Rafe needs to throw all of these people out of his house. Including Gabi

But I do wonder who’s the mysterious voice that Gabi overheard with EJ on the night he was shot. Based on yesterday’s episode, I have a suspicion.
    • Add me to the group of people who think that Brandon has improved. He has. There's no doubt about it. Especially compared to the beginning. And he's improving in a way that... it makes me think that he realizes what the issues are and is addressing them. Of course, he's no master of acting at this point... but I don't cringe as much as I did. And I've seen people in Bold... I won't even have to name names, because everyone knows who they are... who are becoming even worse than what they were offering in the first place. So... I'm happy that in BTG... people are actually blossoming and improving. It surely means that the atmosphere is creative and nurturing talent.  BUT and it's a big butt... his relationship with his husband is still so lacking and ghastly. I am craving to see more action from these guys. I want to see Smitty's character. If he has any.
