Someone flash the @DRW50 signal.

I cannot believe they might be getting rid of Lois' accent. God.

Even in her initial return, I always felt like Rena Sofer wasn't putting the accent as heavy as it was in the '90s or even when Lesli Kay was in the role. So I'm not surprised they [may] be considering the process of Lois not using it altogether.

It's her defining characteristic. It's ridiculous to me to get rid of it.

The show is a joke, so why not cast as many comedians on it as possible.

Perhaps Rena doesn't want to do the accent anymore, hence this storyline?

Ewwww...this stupid storyline.

But tbf Lois's NAILS is her main characteristic.

She didn't. It was a mature version of said accent. It was quite light. It has been up til now.

@Vee Thanks for the tag. It's interesting to cast Sarah Sherman in this part because she uses a very braying accent in her comedy work on SNL. Like anyone on SNL she tends to stick to schtick, but she's a very likeable presence. I wonder if her casting may indicate Lois keeps her accent.

I am actually surprised as I can't remember anyone doing a bit on a soap while they are on SNL, even though SNL itself has never been high brow. I suppose it shows there isn't as much of a stigma as in past years.

As for the accent - to be honest I always saw it as a caricature. I prefer watching Rena as Rocky on Loving, even though that was a very generic character in comparison.

I imagine the accent will stay, at least in some form, although I wonder if Rena just didn't want to do it as often anymore. Still, given all the buzz about self-acceptance these days, I do think GH may ultimately decide to let Lois keep it.

It is a caricature, but the character isn't so it works for me.

I just...was never a fan, although I have appreciated her more since her return as she has some occasional good moments with her daughter and is not there to go on about Eddie and remind us how wicked the Quartermaines are.

Lois's return has been lovely. And the errs and flows does not take away from it at all. So to have this stupid storyline...ugh.
