You know I'm going to talk about it!! And when I mean it...I mean...TRACI HAS A MAN, YOU'LL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SUCK IT, BEASTMASTER!!!! lol.

But seriously, it was nice to see Traci back on the canvas. And with Alan. She immediately has a story in the making with Alan and his underlying issues from his childhood with Martin. Meanwhile, they are setting up for Ashley's eventual return to finish out her story for the fall. So...good.

I also loved the Jack/Billy scenes. And I was really hating Billy being Billy at the start of the scenes. But at least, Billy remembered that he has a heart and showed compassion for his brother dealing with the Diane/Kyle mess.

I'm always happy to see Chance. That said...ugh. Summer is going to wind up the bad guy in this situation, and I'm sad about that. Because when Kyle vs Summer started, she was not perfect, but Kyle seem to be the bad guy with his prick self.

I don't believe EB or Bill Bell ever took for granted how much African-American audiences meant to Y&R's success - even in the '80's, when Bell had Phil Morris in whiteface and thugs named "Jazz" and "Kong" running around Genoa City - which is why it pains me so much to see how the current powers-that-be seemingly disregard their AA cast members by not featuring them enough in front-burner storylines.

It still stuns me how hard Y&R has been running from the reality of their audience base for close to 20 years. My ancient babysitter kept the TV tuned to CBS in the late '80s and early '90s and Nadia's Theme used to drive me nuts as a small child, lol. You'd wonder if The Gates will light a fire at all.

Frankly, I don't believe it will.  Y&R remains firmly on top of the ratings, and unless/until that changes, I don't believe TPTB ever will see a need to improve anything.

First of all, Phyllis threatening Victor and Victor standing there and smirking in her face was the reaction I needed. Because I was right there with him when I thought...

Second of all, I guess it's two for two on a decent week. It's funny how my viewing soap schedule has done a 180 in viewing pleasure. B&B is currently holding my interest where I was once bored. And Y&R appears to be slowly doing the same.

Again in terms of storylines that are holding my interest. The Faith/Lucy storyline continues to do it. As I said before, it's been so long since there has been a young teen story on this show. And surprisingly it is very beliveable. and made all the more believable with Faith saying to Nick and Sharon that she's basically pitying Lucy who 'has no friends.' Well...harsh, Faith. But...sadly...very human. Lucy is currently grounded, and I like that all the parents (Nick-trying to hide that bubble from the camera hehe, Sharon, Daniel who has been looking snack-y, and finally Heather) are slowly learning about the drama between Faith and Lucy. But since Faith isn't being honest to Lucy...where is this storyline going? Given the obsessive phone calls Lucy has been making even though she's grounded, is Lucy about to go cray cray?

And speaking of cray cray...I was looking forward to seeing Sharon on retreat. But this ghost of Cameron keeps saying that Sharon is hiding something from herself and that IT is in Genoa City. What? For the first time, I thought past trauma and since JG seems to want to take story ideas from outside of the writer room...could someone have told him about Sharon's father and we are FINALLY getting a story about her father?

You betta walk, Audra!!!! lol. Her and Victor have way too much good chemistry. I mean in a master/right hand person kinda of a way. And I love when a boss have a right hand henchwoman so I'm loving their scenes.

I continue to feel Summer is going to be responsible for her own downfall in this fight with Kyle. Moreso since Victor just talked to Kyle about it. And I also see a catfight is scheduled for Monday for her so hehe.

I TOLD YOU!!!! Chelesa SHUT UP!!!! Now Billy and Sally have overheard them talking. I just want to shake her soooo badly. Where is the conwoman at to lie? Cuz ugh. I guess I care a little bit. At least for Sally. lol. I want Billy to fall on his face. And given the promo for next week...he's about to get his.

I totally believe. Especially Bill Bell. Say what you want about Victoria Rowell, but Bill Bell appeared to take her advice and counsel when it came to story points that she felt was relevant to the black audience. And God bless her for doing so.

I would argue about that last point, but I saw that casting call over in the spoiler thread that sounds like a recast.

I would rather they focus on what they got, but it seems like a moot point or they never go where I would want them to go with what they got. Or worse, they recycle the story they just used with their black characters for their white characters with very little change. That was not even that long ago so...???

The way sets on this show are used continues to be a mess.

Nate had dinner with Audra at the GCAC, then went to Crimson Lights for coffee (where he ran into Lily). I mean, seriously? Who goes out for dinner in a fancy restaurant and then stops by a coffee shop for a brew?

They do this all the time, and it draws attention to the terrible sets problem at YR. I'm fine with the CL set, and I do understand the need to have characters run into each other, but it's done too often.

These are supposed to be incredibly busy business executives. (Yeah, I realize all they do is switch titles and do company takeovers), but these casual strolls into Crimson Lights -- when management would have access to good coffee at their business -- is maddening.

And don't get me started with the foot traffic at CL. Shouldn't that place be closing for lack of business?

I get the kind of clubby atmosphere they are going with, so i don't mind the sofa too much, although I think it was originally a more suitable dark leather. It's the cheap looking cottagey print cushions that bug me.

Also, the glass cabinets used to be filled with trophies and antiquey stuff but then got replaced with crappy glassware.

I could go on for hours about the lack of sets and the cheap decor.

I know budget and space is a problem but 2 walls and a table/chairs to suggest a corner of a restaurant or the same for a bedroom OR AN OFFICE etc. There doesn't seem to be any effort or imagination.

And then from time to time they do just that. Puzzling...

Uh oh. I feel momentum building. Again. Which is good. There has not been much of it since the climax of Ashley's second arc in her Alters storyline.

You know I've lived for Summer vs Audra. I thought it was too early with the actresses when the Kyle/Audra fling happened. But now that both actresses have more experience, it's great to watch them go at it. And awwww at Kyle and Summer maybe approaching an agreement as well as Kyle and Audra coming to a bit of a truce.

Billy continues to be an prick. And we know it's because he suspects Chelesa is lying to him. So I don't like him projecting onto Lily. But oooooo that that very slick Victor/Nikki tag-team that ended this episode. If I had time...I might watch the next episode. Victor was a hoot throughout the episode.

Good to see Chance a little bit more. Though he tried to warn Billy...

    • The timing is strange, though. How far in advance would they normally be on location? The Achille Lauro hijacking was on October 7, 1985. Nancy had arrived in Egypt in the storyline by October 18. But the character of Hawk, Chris' Native American friend from Arizona, had already appeared onscreen by September and brought a letter telling Chris to be in Egypt by October 25th.  Why did they already have the link to Arizona before the reason to cancel the shoot in Egypt?  The dust and the jar it came in were from Egypt though. Nancy bought it there and sent it to Mac as a gift before she came back to the states and followed Chris to Arizona.
    • Actually that is not what happened. Nor is the timing right for it to have been. We learned from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay  in 2006, which can be found on YT, that it was Fred Silverman's idea to do the 90 minute show. I don't know how much you know about him but he had these amazing successes as head of daytime at both ABC & at CBS. Then he came to NBC where basically everything he touched turned NOT TO GOLD but to shite. Some of the most expensive shows ever produced up to that time were huge flops. Although even he, like a broken clock, could be right on occasion. However, as we know, he was not right about the 90 minute show. As a matter of fact, afterward,  NBC programmers, who worked FOR him, were asked why they did it & they were quoted as saying it was because they couldn't think of anything else to try. It was a stupid idea from a man who had reached the point where he was throwing anything at the wall to see if it would stick.

    • I stopped watching Another World in 1990. Simply, lost interest in the show.  I had watched the show from 1973 to 1990. The 90 minute show started the decline of AW.  NBC panicked with expanding AW due to the GH hoopla. As mentioned above, 1982 was a trainwreck for AW.  The introduction of the Shea family, the movie storyline involving Jamie, and Steve Frame favoring Rachel over Alice. The writers went into that direction due to the forgettable performance of Linda Borgeson.

    • Ive seen that theory thrown out but the one thing against it is that Leslie and her family lived in Chicago. She only came back to DC last year after her husband died. Unless they say Alan made a trip to DC and died while away, she wouldnt know about that. However I do think the angle of her finding out that Martin was involved could work as that gives her leverage against Bill too for covering it up. She'd want to get revenge on him by threatening to have him disbarred
    • What a good write-up @Errol! Nice seeing the nod to Duplaix's lead.
    • The Egypt location shoot was cancelled because of the Achille Lauro cruise ship hijacking

    • And, to me it is a little bit hilarious that AW fans all over continue to refer to it as Egyptian Dust Recently elsewhere I've been running polls. When did you stop watching AW or What storyline caused you to stop watching AW. You may be interested to know that sticking it out till the bitter end is winning by a landslide. Next highest vote getter is - no surprise - Frankie's murder. So that covers like 60% & next 20%. Then the votes drop way down to 10% and well below but a wide array of reasons are given, including but not limited to  Justine Lumina Rachel having twins at her age, how ridiculous Mac's death the 90 minute show firing JC, George R & Dwyer Hmm, I know there are a few more, in the 1%-3% range but I cannot think of what they are. Sorry, my bad. Should have made notes but I didn't know I would be posting about it. LOL!!
