I've said it before, but the Body & Soul storyline really feels like a passive-aggressive swipe at the show and the brass in general, so I suspect there were already tensions mounding backstage before his firing. I think he knew he wasn't getting the contract renewal and decided to flip them the bird.

What’s so bad about B&S? I haven’t watched in years.

I generally like what Ron has done at Days but I stopped watching when he recast Eileen Davidson’s roles. She’s my favorite Days actress of all time and I simply won’t watch anyone else in her roles.

I am grateful to Ron for bringing back Eileen as Susan in 2017 (along with the Sister Mary Moira cameo and Kristen and EJ being revealed as alive.  I am grateful to Ron for bringing her back for Beyond Salem and Marlena’s possession episodes.

I am grateful to Ron for

-bringing back Bonnie and killing off Adrienne

-bringing back Lisa Rinna twice

-bringing back Carrie and Austin on Beyond

-bringing back Mimi and giving her a baby with Rex

-bringing back Heather Lindell and Jay Kenneth Johnson

-bringing back Jack and reuniting him with Jennifer (and their third wedding)

-resurrecting Bo

-the return of Princess Gina

-bringing back Ivan

-Brandon Barash

-bringing on Orpheus’ twins and naming them

-bringing back Chris Kositchek on Beyond Salem and updating us on his relationship status with Savannah

-Zach Tinker

-A Very Salem Christmas (John and Kristen finally married!)

-killing off psycho serial killer Andre

-Andrew and Paul

-bringing back Blake Berris

-the Drew/Shane twist on Beyond Salem

-bringing back camp and embracing the absurdity of the show like Back from the Dead and Microchips and Masks

-reuniting and remarrying John and Marlena and making them the prime supercouple again

-restoring Marlena to her rightful place as the face of Days of our Lives

Well, there would be repercussions for the scab writers, so if it's ever revealed, it won't be until they retire / leave the industry.

To be honest, the scabs weren't the worst. I sort of liked the whole night of chaos with Harris shot and the Horton house on fire. The episodes with the box were nice, even if it was understandably low stakes due to it essentially being a filler storyline but we got nice moments and nostalgia out of it. The dialogue writing was mostly quite trite, though.

    • Yes Daphne left in the May 26 episode
    • Haha, I get it. I was too old when Halloweentown was popular with the kids, but I did go back and watch the first two about 6-7 years ago and actually thought Marnie was a likable lead and she was pretty good, for a movie like that. But now watching GL and seeing her as a young child, I totally get what you're saying. She's annoying haha.
    • I feel bad for judging a child, but, to be fair, she's over 40 now. My daughter was into Halloweentown when it reran on the Disney Channel in the 2010s. I wasn't impressed then, either.
    • Isn't that funny how certain memories as young children stick with you through life... Haha I totally get what you mean. That's how I felt with GL in the beginning, but then I got used to it. Seeing so many of my favorite AMC characters on GL was wild - Walker, Irizarry, Dusay, Budig, Aleksander, Gil Rogers, etc.  Ironically, it helps that Irizarry and Dusay played both mother/son in both shows. I know Marcy Walker was wasted on GL as Tangie, but selfishly I'm so glad she was. When she left GL and returned immediately to AMC as Liza Colby, man was it such a great storyline. The Tad/Dixie/Liza triangle was so emotional, tense and memorable. The AMC fans got lucky with that one. WRCW, Tad/Liza working together, the affair, then Jason Sheffield and the shooting on-set... all amazing stuff.   LOL!
    • I remember thinking that he was fantastic after Reva's 1990 "death," with his grief and attempted relationship with Harley. I also remember the cute Marah, not the toothy chick from Halloweentown.
    • Totally agree - we have much to learn about Vernon, and I'd love to see it.
    • I've enjoyed Vernon but I wouldn't be opposed to learning more about his life beyond his political work. What kind of family does he come from? Does he have any siblings? I feel like that could be an interesting thing to look at.

    • I've always said, Robert Newman does not get enough credit for the popularity of Josh/Reva. Had he stayed in '91, and had years to build other relationships before Kim returned, I'm not sure we'd have been stuck with "always".
    • Bizarrely, while I didn't see it, I distinctly remember my younger sister telling me. We were walking to the store, and at the top of the hill she let out "Roger raped Holly", and I swear I remember it echoing for what seemed like forever. She would've been five at the time.  I know,,,which I find extraordinary. I have toyed with the idea of watching Another World for Maeve, Kathleen Widdoes and Beverlee. But watching Vanessa call Emma Snyder "momma" kinda weirded me out. LOL. I believe that's what I read in the recaps from the time as well. I meant, I couldn't quite believe that the audience wouldn't understand that a woman preparing to go to her engagement party  was raped. I know that on ATWT John raped Kim while they were married, resulting in Andy, but I think they shied away from calling that marital rape.
