I am not always the best at identifying actors, but I believe the woman involved in the car accident is actress Destiny Love, who is playing Laura, a character we haven't been told much about yet, unless I've missed something.

Overall, the promo is great. I think highlighting Dani and her story is multi-leveled. Dani does seem to be a catalyst who generates plot and is played by the cast member with most recent CBS daytime experience. Tamara Tunie and Clifton Davis are bigger names in entertainment, but  Mosely played a fairly significant role. Though, I am probably unaware of how long Maya has been offscreen.

And that is Dani hooking up with Andre, correct? That was a pleasant surprise.

KM also temporarily played Amanda on Y&R in 2021 when MM was recouping from surgery. I just remember KM talked about how much she loves the soap world + fans. She'll be great for PR and interviews because she's very down-to-earth, open, and sweet.

Obviously BTG is going to have high drama and people behaving badly. That's soaps. But equating standard soap opera dramatics with Passions or Tyler Perry, or something inherently racist and stereotypical, is just an excuse for obsessive or mentally ill folks to drag the show for not matching up the fanfiction they built in their heads before seeing a frame of it or knowing any of the castmembers.

This happens all the time with new movies or shows, this extreme positive/negative bipolar whiplash. You have some people who get intensely, overly involved and build a product up in their minds as an outlet for themselves and their own creativity. Then reality hits when it actually begins to exist, doesn't correspond to their fantasies and suddenly it's the worst thing ever. It can't be their thing anymore, they don't approve of this announced castmember or that previewed story or location choice, so suddenly this thing they were obsessed with becomes something they have to police, 'keep in line' and destroy.

Anyway, if by chance anyone fits this description just get another SON fanfic blog I don't read and move on with your life. If that section of the board still exists. (And BTW, this won't be the only extreme knee-jerk reaction we see early on. The GH threads get them every week from folks who don't even watch.)

This is the first BTG trailer I have really loved. While I like the "character introduces herself to the viewer" trailers of SB, B&B, I have to admit that they might seem a bit dated. This BTG trailer is more in line with modern TV show promos and gives a great overview of the characters and themes that we can expect. I LOVE the fact that family relationships are highlighted in this trailer, rather than just catfighting and sex scenes. The clips with Vernon and Martin and Anita and Dani ("You are a DUPREE woman") signals that BTG will have an emphasis on family affairs which are the true bread and butter of soap. Also the "you are a DUPREE woman" gave me goosebumps because it is a direct callback to matriarchal families of soaps past eg CRAMER woman, KANE woman, etc. Posters here correctly predicted that Anita will be a matriarch in the Stephanie Forrester mold. Someone who guards her family's interests with a vengeance.

I am really impressed by Karla Mosley in these clips. I think BTG will finally give her the opportunity to play the complex, multifaceted character that she couldn't on B&B or GL. Remember KM is the only BTG actor that MVJ has written for in the past. I expect that Dani's material will be uniquely crafted for KM's talents. I also liked the glimpses we got of Marquita Goings as Hayley because Dani needs a rival who will be able to stand up to her toe-to-toe. MG is a Georgia-born southern belle, I think she can bring a lot of authenticity to BTG. I also like what we have seen of DD's Nicole. I think she will be the ice to Dani's fire.

We are not at Rauch-level brightness. At least in the quick clip we saw of Vanessa McBride her blonde hair is not reflecting the surface of the sun at the camera lens à la late 90s GL. I remember reading an interview with Paul Taylor about how he struggled to be properly lit in scenes with white actors on ATWT. I agree that the lighting is erring on the side of brightness but I'm willing to wait and see if it is adjusted in the future.

Exterior shoots!! I was hoping that BTG would take advantage of Assembly Studios's facades and it looks like they are! I would love to see BTG build a dedicated backlot. A mall like Salem Place or Brookside Parade could work well for the show's setting, but of course that depends on BTG's long-term success.

EXTRAS! I love how busy the different locations look. I'm so excited that Fairmont looks like it will be a real community and not a deserted ghost town like the other soaps. I really hope this does well. We badly need a soap opera renaissance.

Beleza Fatal? Thanks for making me aware of this. I haven't watched a novela in years but I'll give this a shot.

Honestly I hope BTG remains in its own universe. As far as we know the BTG universe hasn't had SORAS, evil twins, or people coming back from the dead yet. I want it to remain pristine for as long as possible.

    • Which could make sense , except that we have seen Mariah function for years w/o any real residue pain from her upbringing. Josh decides to randomly make it a thing, when a good writer might foreshadow that for months. It's not like he's just arrived at the show. He's been there for years . Everything seems to be thought out only a few weeks ahead. It's like Phyllis all freaky from being kidnapped when she has done a million other things that didn't seem to bother her at all.
    • Unrelated, sort of, but he looks absolutely nothing like Amanda Setton or Dominic Zamprogna so it's kind of hilarious they decided to make Gio their kid.  It's very clear this was not the original origin story for Gio when they cast him. He is a very handsome guy though.
    • I tend to agree, although going back to OLTL, Frank has so often cast guys who are meant to be attractive yet come across as cold and dead, I'm surprised he managed to get one who has a bit of a pulse.
    • For all I care, the boy can parade around in a g-string.  It won't make this show suck any less.
    • AMC was about a decade later so things may have changed by then, although maybe they never approached her anyway. She joined Santa Barbara in 1985, when they didn't seem interested in bringing back Hope. SB ended in late 1992, so JFP could have asked her back, but I doubt she did. For as much as JFP clearly had some use for Rick Hearst given that she hired him on GH and kept him around as often as she could, I don't think she ever used Alan-Michael well. I can't see Elvera as Delia, but she could have worked well as Faith - she had a glimpse of a strong personality alongside warmth, which only one Faith ever managed (Catherine Hicks).
    • IIRC, FC reruns aired for awhile on Lifetime, way before the network became the Women in Peril Channel, lol.
    • PAM!! YES!!! You have jogged my memory. She worked at Cedars. She's mentioned in a write-up of Tim's history in the show. It says she was a nurse, but I seem to remember she was a secretary at Cedars, working for either Ed or Sarah. (It's almost 50 years ago, so I definitely could be wrong). I'm certain she was an unwed mother. I recall reading an interview with the actress, Maureen Silliman (I looked it up, that's her correct name, LOL). She started on the show just before the Dobsons started writing it. She was shocked to get a script that said her character had been pregnant since she hit town. I remember a scene where she told Tim she was going to leave SF for a better job for her daughter's sake (really, I think she was upset he was serious about Rita). I don't remember them getting married and leaving town, but according to "Who's Who in Springfield" that's how the characters were written out. Mattson did All My Children for several years, so she might have been persuadable. Here's an interesting factoid I recently learned on these message boards: Elvera Roussel was in the running to play Delia on RH when the show first hit the air. How wild is it that Mattson played Delia for a while? (Though from what I saw of her performance, she was miscast). It's hard to know if Roussel would have been a good Delia. You'd think she would have been better suited to playing Faith Coleridge, but who knows? She didn't get to show a whole lot of range as Hope.
    • If I were to do an EON reboot, I think I would start at the beginning, with Mike Karr leaving the police force in order to begin a new career as an attorney, and dealing with his wife, Sara's, crooked family.
    • I don't know if it was the writing or performance but I felt like we finally got to see the real Ted. Especially the way he talked to Martin when confronted, felt like a completely different person. He felt darker and like a total liar who was mad he got caught. I expected him to be remorseful and want to apologize to each and every family member who he came into contact with but he seemed like he didn't care. It completely changed how I view him and it makes me wonder if this is the direction they're going to take Ted in with the recast.
