Well, they have grown closer over the last few years. Especially when Anna was not attached to the force or WSB.

However, did Anna and Sonny have the official 'I'm back as Commissioner so this is a warning' scene?

I guess I see what you all are talking about in terms of pace. Stuff definitely is happening. I think it's well paced...just look at this cliffhanger of Ava telling Sonny as Spin tells Maxie. And that's just the start. Perhaps we are all used to the writers on these shows these days just taking their time with a return or a story. It's not tooo fast, but definitely not slow. So...just right?

But the amount of personal scenes have definitely increased. Laura and Cyrus having a moment. Heather trying to escape, using her brains again rather than being cray cray. Olivia and Sam talking about Dante's childhood and where the relationship (convenient now that Jason is back). John throwing Sonny's past in his face...thank God those confrontation scenes are getting better. I really, really love the scene with BLQ and Tracy where Tracy talked about how she misses Lila to this day. So resonating.

Is it me or was Alexis and the gossip columnist guy sparking a bit?

And I liked the sprinkle of humor the writers was doing with Ava abruptly leaving scenes without saying what was up. Usually the humor is not at all subtle, so I missed that.

So far, I think all the episodes this week have ended on good notes/cliffhanger. Could tomorrow be more of the same? It's been a minute since there was a Cliffhanger Friday methinks.

That's something that I have been noticing more. History is actually being touched on AND mentioned.

Sounds great.

I might be wrong but I think I see that people are going to have to decide whether they're Team Sonny or Team Jason. Team Sonny is going to think what Ava just pitched & see Jason as the one targeting Sonny & the other mob members. "Stone Cold" is where "Stone" comes in.

We know Jason saved Sonny by jostling the sniper's arm just as he took the kill shot. Carly is not gonna believe Jason is out to kill Sonny. Someone needs to find out that he saved Dante's life.

Yeah, I posted about it in the thread about her original thing. I'm sure it is legal strategy but it is so offensive. She seems to say that it was his fault, not hers!!!! Also that if she caused any harm that it was "out of her control". Ridiculous!!!! A friend on Twitter outlined 5 different points when she made a choice. When she could have gone another way. Which brought up 4 Mollys in 4 months & that being her fault, entirely. Someone even suggested that doing this in the civil case could hurt her in her attempt to do a plea agreement. Can she say she is guilty of a lesser charge in criminal court while it's in the media that she is saying she did nothing in civil court?!!

Steve Burton really brought it today! Never expected to type those words. Both he & LW had tears in their eyes, on the brink of spilling over, but then didn't.

How in heck did IAmJohn get a search warrant?!! There was no time.

So, I figure Jason slipped away while Carly was arguing with the Feds & Anna. After they search & find nothing, they'll leave. Carly then will have NO IDEA where Jason has gone. Where would he go next? Sam?

Yes actually two different Pullos things in past week: trying to plea-deal about the criminal charges, and a separate matter which is requesting that the civil lawsuit be dismissed.
The Pullos thread is here:

I have to ask you guys that have been watching for a while now in the years I wasn’t watching, how do you feel about Laura’s two brothers? They both feel so random and out of place to me. Did Laura really benefit from two random adult siblings?

Haven’t gotten to Jason’s return yet as I’ve been watching the Spencer/Esme go overboard episodes.

    • Aww, yeah it's very heartbreaking and I mostly enjoyed the Nola/Vanessa scenes because they finally let their walls down and came together in a beautiful moment. So Nola was at the hospital already and bumped into Vanessa, who had MRI papers that fell out of her hand and Nola went down to pick them up and asked her what was going on. Later, Vanessa confided in her about her disease. Then, Nola told Zachary on the beach (he prodded her and already alluded to knowing something was going on with Van), and then Vanessa found out she told him and got a little upset. Now, however, Nola is strangely absent while everyone is mourning her death. I'm curious if Nola will actually tell people about her MRI results. I would assume so. Only Nola, Rick, Roger and Zachary know anything, although there is the MRI results letter from the mail that everyone has missed seeing at home. I'm sure it'll all come out at some point. But... I just saw the next episode and the opening already cut Vanessa out and added Dahlia and Zachary. I guess Maeve is gone for a long time

That will break my heart seeing the town continue to mourn her and assume she's dead. I can't wait to see her return though, and I have to imagine feelings will be torn between loving that she's alive and being very angry she did all of this. While I hate what Vanessa is doing, I'm happy to hear it's not totally against her character. I think you're right, had Henry still been around, she wouldn't put him through this. I'm still surprised she is with Bill, though. I get her feelings on Matt, because she wants him to move on, but still very heartbreaking. I'm glad this was Maeve's choice to have a break vs. being fired.    Interesting, so I'm curious to see who they eventually pair Phillip with. They're flirting with a Phillip/Annie pairing, but I'm not sure if they'll go that route with the Jeva drama, her growing pill addiction, and Rick's past with her.  Ugh, yeah I'm so sad to see Bridget do a total 180 in the last couple weeks. She has always been a strong character from what I've seen, but now she's just bending over backwards to get Hart to love her and it reeks of desperation. Yeah, sure, this new Hart is eye candy, but I'm already tired of seeing Hart/Dinah have sex all over Springfield and the Cayman Islands haha.
    • Yes.  I remember them together during the early summer of 1986.  They didn't share scenes again for 30 years until 2017 because Carrie wasn't on the show when Anna returned during Sydney's kidnapping.
    • I can see Kim being that way. Well, Kyle didn't have to say yes. LOL. The suicide attempt feels plot-driven. I don't know if even Long could've made it work. She'd spent so much time trying to make Reva and Kyle into a couple, it feels odd to just have them give up. Not to mention how odd it is to have Maeve agree to marry him. Re Charita---surely they could've at least tried  finding clips with who was still there. Maybe they wouldn't have been "big" moments, but surely she'd interacted with Ross, Vanessa, and Henry. Vanessa had dated Ed, FCOL. But Mo and Rick were there---surely they could've bothered to find some clips of her with them (and they did interact a fair amount) and used them. And with Ed they could've found some shot of her talking to him and just not cut to whoever was playing Ed in the clip. That to me is what feels lazy---they had more than a year to figure it out, and they went with a bunch of photos. If you were sort of centering it on Rick anyway---then find clips with them and use 'em.
    • I definitely think it's time to write off Nina for good. I think her killing Drew might actually be a good idea. She could completely lose it after losing both Sasha and Willow and she ends up murdering Drew and eventually she gets caught and sent away to prison for a long time.
    • I hope it's okay to post this here(as in from DC)
    • Quick question - did Christie and Leann share any scenes together in the '80s before Leann left the show?
    • This is the perfect way to encapsulate the situation. So many morally-reprehensible stories were foisted on the show and its characters in ATWT's dwindling years. Rape should never be used as a cheap plot device or in a way that degrades the victim. Jack's sexual assault was another heinous example of how nasty the the show's tone had become. The fact that people like Hogan Sheffer, Ron Carlivati, Jean Passanante, Charles Pratt, Dena Higley, etc., somehow end up winning awards for their material, decimates the credibility and integrity of the awards, IMHO. Soaps used to have a solid moral core and did not originally wallow in the gutter, rolling around in filth and depravity just to be cool, hip, campy, or whatever else modern-day PTB aim for. Thank you. Cruelty, degradation and misogyny are not components which lend themselves to successful soaps, which have always been predicated on warmth, family bonds, and providing a comforting haven for their audience. The genre has been crippled because the cynical and ignorant executives in charge understand neither the shows nor what the audience wants to see.
    • Beverlee was on a whole other level from Kim. It's not like they were in competition with each other. I get the feeling that Kim had a slight problem with the super-professional, serious cast members who just wanted everyone to be prepared and do the work, as she seems to like having fun on set. (She's made a few cracks about Chris Bernau being like that). Bev was definitely one of those. But they didn't work together that much. Yeah, they made her manic and also much weaker. She always had a vulnerability, but wanting to kill herself over that guy? No way. Not only that, he didn't leave her! She insisted he marry Maeve. When they did the tribute to Bert/Charita, the compilation of scenes with her showed how much the cast had been almost totally turned over in a relatively short period of time. Nearly every shot was of her by herself because most people she had worked with had been fired, left or been replaced. I assume they couldn't show her with people who hadn't been replaced, like Don Stewart, Elvera Roussel, or Robert Newman because they would have had to pay them for using their clips. It's dreadful to watch. Like she had no connection to the current show.
