I've seen a few flicks lately so I thought I'd share.

Babel- Compelling, yet uneven, for the most part is a success. The actress who plays Keiko gives a fabulous, provocative performance, though her story was my least favorite. She plays a deaf mute and it's amazing to watch her convey the various emotions that's required of her character. Brad Pitt also is stellar in his part and Cate Blanchett is as good as her material will allow. I was most affected by the story of the Indian father & his two sons- that one packs quite a wallop.

Red Eye- Briskly paced at approximately 84 minutes, it's that rare thriller that holds your attention from beginning to end. Rachel McAdams & Cillian Murphy are absolutely brilliant and I loved the small-scale cast and how each minor character came into play. It falls apart a bit at the end but all in all, very enjoyable.

Stuck on You- Matt Damon & Greg Kinnear as adult siamese twins- you could see why I would think it's dumb. But surprisingly, the movie had a lot of heart and plenty of belly laughs to go along with it. Though the movie takes a melodramatic turn at the end, it manages to entertain and even endear these characters to the audience. Very well done.

I watched the British mini-series of Dr. Zhivago with Keira Knightley as Laurissa. It was super. Dr. Zhivago is my most favorite movie ever and this one kept the same tone, the feelings the warmth, the whole nine-yards. Great. Keira was a teen when she made that series and played Lara from 15 to about 35. The director was giving her great reviews on how well she carried the part and I totally agree.

The Break-Up: Not bad. Pretty good interaction between Vince and Aniston.

Superman Returns: Lex Luthor's evil plot doesn't really fit. Kate Bosworth is awkward as Lois Lane. But Brandon OWNS as the Man of Steel.

"The Pursuit of Happyness"

Not bad. A little long, but I suppose everything that happened was important and pertinent to the story. Most touching scene was Will Smith and his son sleeping on a pile of toilet paper on the floor of a public restroom, when they're homeless. The tear that trickles down Will's face when somebody is banging on the door to get in... SO sad. Great acting.

    • I’m trying to think which actors VW were working with at the time, and none of them had been there for a while. Even like Mac and Ada didn’t have that big of a part in Rachel’s storyline.  And Jamie was involved with all that movie stuff.
    • Brooke did ads before ATWT too. That probably helped get her the job. After ATWT she seemed to branch more into hosting, along with ads.  I think I saw Kelley in an ad or two, but you're right she wasn't on as much.
    •   Thanks for sharing these. I wonder if Charles might have been in the running for Adam. I know Preacher was a bit of a bad boy at times on EON, but Neal seemed to be a step down, and Robert Lupone had played a similar part on AMC. Given the huge cast turnover at this point I wonder who thought they had been there long enough to go.  Laura Malone/Chris Rich would get a remote within the next year.
    • Interesting.  It seems to allude to that statement that Warren Burton made around that time about some AW actors getting special treatment.  I wonder who was resentful about not getting to go.
    • Good morning, boys!  I figured that it was time that our Gio was introduced into the hotness thread

    • Under all of Madonna's social media today there is this wave of negative, toxic, absurd comments by Lady Gaga fans telling her how Gaga surpassed her in concert in Copacabana. I mean... Who the hell cares? Why are these fan communities so freaking toxic??? I'm sure Madonna doesn't care... But still. Have some respect for M. Leave her social media alone. Go cheer Gaga and be happy. Why come and spew hate on M??? Crazy world.
    • FYI, again, Ruth/Letitia is not in either of these 2 episodes. So that concludes the 4 episodes I had from Nov. 1983. I don't have the October episodes.
    • Eddie has begun uploading the 1990 episodes. I'm so happy about that. I was mindfully taking a break till there's plenty of episodes I can binge watch when I feel like it. Now that 1989 is complete... I can't wait to press play on February 1989 and resume where I left off.

Me when someone asks me to be proper and demure.
    • This is just a guess but I feel like the fact that they keep mentioning her dead husband is for a reason. We know Martin has a secret that likely involved someone dying. Martin's victim could be Alan which Leslie/Dana either knows about or finds out and she uses that to blackmail the family into letting her crimes slide.
