Sarah said she was moving to Chicago to accept a job there, and would file the second set of divorce papers on her way out of town. That's done because Leo checked last week and the courthouse had finalized the divorce. Today Maggie told Xander to move on, which Maggie has never done before. We know Sarah is pregnant so the character could come back someday. But if LG returns perhaps it would be on recurring? For whatever reason, they're parking the character for a bit with an open-ended exit. You have to remove her from the contract cast credits if she's not on contract. That doesn't mean she won't return (Sarah will return in some form, given how she left), and when she does, she might be on contract again.
