What happened to East NY was unfortunate. A top 20 show axed because of licensing fees to Warner Bros so it was cheaper for CBS to uncancel a show because it was cheaper too.

Show cancellations these days can be so frustrating because it’s no longer solely about ratings and demos but also show costs, budgets, licensing fees etc. plus the streaming aspect of it and then CBS these days have a pipeline to the point they’re already ordering new pilots and making guarantees for the 2025-26 tv season.

I’m also wondering how many episodes are in this season. I’m guessing maybe 10-13? I know Kathy recently interviewed and said she may retire after this gig so I can’t see it lasting the whopping 24-25 episodes CBS was ordering for its procedurals prior to the writers strike.

Very. But yes, a victim of the who tax breaks studios were trying to do that that time along with the merger battles.

I would think she would do a 15-18 season if at all.

Okay...that was decent. And I saw quite a lot of possibilities...but I missed the first 15 minutes.

And that ending was superb. So many possibilities. I like those kind of long games.

That's a decent debut.

It has over 50,000 views so far on YouTube too.

I believe it. I will probably make time to watch the 15 minutes I missed this week if not all out rewatch.

That was a GREAT ending.

I rather enjoyed it!  I was not expecting that ending either. Frankly, this show could have been called anything other than Matlock. Kathy Bates is the draw, not some tenuous connection to an old favorite when so many people are weary and wary of reboots.

That ending... a nice soap  opera twist that elevates it above a cute quirky cozy lawyer show :)

Happy to hear you liked it. :)

If I just look at Jason Ritter quickly, he doesn't remind me very much of his father, but then sometimes he really does.
