I'm not new to DAYS at all. For me, the clam chowder is all over the place. Inserted. As if the show wants you to go to the supermarket and buy Progresso or something. If clam chowder is the staple of the Brady's or the show in general, then all power to them. And @janea4old. It's okay. Breathe.

OK, in the illogical world of Salem that makes sense.

Although, I was sure that Rolf was just conning Eric and Brady and faking the experiment with Stefan in order to buy time, but I guess that's not the case. Admittedly, I watch the show on 1.5x speed, and only pay attention 40% of the time.

May I push my luck with more questions?  Chloe mentioned that she returned from visiting Parker, but who does Parker live with now?  And does Chloe still have some animosity toward Stephanie for her role in the paternity plot regarding Parker?

She said she visited him at boarding school which is where some of us have thought he must be now. And, that kind of negative conditioning actually happens. It's not a Salem thing. People can give up smoking & a shrink will create situations with hypnosis & other stuff to literally make them sick at the idea of smoking. Same thing with Chloe, for real.

The Parker living situation question was answered, but I don't think Stephanie's romantic past has ever been mentioned since she returned except for the offscreen jerk she dated in Seattle.  She hasn't even talked about her rape which was a big part of her story and she was telling Alex about tragedies she suffered and it didn't come up lol.  I think her past before the recast took over is vaguely erased.

So, just to summarize today's episode, anyone in Salem can afford a private boarding school, and last minute international plane fare, but nobody can buy a condo.

Nicole looked great for her 25th anniversary episode. And i did like that a lot of history was mentioned. (The Prisms/ Megan and Eriole/Nicole's history.) And Megan is a breath of fresh air for the time being. Not that i enjoyed the episode as a whole.

@NoelDr. Rolf still hasn't had his clam chowder.

Damn, that's a lot of money, but at least I know now as my life is about to change and I'm trying to be patient. In real life, I don't know one person who would do that as wanting to live and work in another country is a very long process. You just don't make that decision that quickly. And why? Because you slept with someone else? Like boo-hoo. Chanel ain't all that innocent either! Allie strips Henry away from his comfortable surroundings then leaves all of her wall decor and furniture for Wendy. So now, Wendy lives in an apartment with a bunch of hand me downs.

YEEESSSSSS! The sour cream scooper!

Now, interesting ... I said I enjoyed the episode as a whole just not the silly part which I didn't like & didn't want to talk about. Later I couldn't help myself & said it was not only silly but unpleasant, too! Today I will post it with some kind of silliness that I do like to talk about.

    • That could be it too. I just remember a slap at some point. That would have been around when she was made at Holly for "ruining" her one-sided relationship with Alan Michael. I don't know if you will be getting to 2000 (if you do - buckle up!) but there's a character who was intended to be Stacy.
    • Agree with all of this. They use stuff like the redecoration and the party as major events and nothing comes of it. Kyle/Claire is of no interest to me because Kyle has already been deeply in love with Lola and summer so his devotion to Claire is more of the same. And Claire is a character that came from a nonsense rewrite and now is presented as Little Miss Innocent, her dark past swept away. That charm bracelet of Nikki's must weigh a ton. The list of grandchildren seemed endless. The thing is, most of them are offscreen and ignored. Victoria seems like a neglectful parent. Was Dylan mentioned? Another dumb rewrite character. Not only is the show hampered by so many vet charcters, TPTB don't seem interested in venturing into new areas with them. Cole was brought by but there hasn't been any dramatic story that could impact on Victoria? What had he been doing all those years? So many characters w/o stories talking about businesses we never see.
    • I thought it was Sherry Stringfield, but maybe it was before Blake slept with Ross.
    • Thank you for the great background and summary - very helpful!  Yes, very odd they never brought her back, but at least J mentioned her, so not truly forgotten. Ah interesting, I guess I never realized that CBS was a bit more conservative/old-fashioned in a way, at least pre-2000 or so. It's funny, I wrote that about slapping, and then a few episodes later, Vivian storms into the Spaulding mansion and slaps Alan. It's like I spoke it into existence.

    • When written correctly or played correctly the antagonist will often have a sizable following, although this can go too far. It's why having a balance and allowing your heroes to be called out by other characters is so important. Speaking of that, I did not realize Sonni got a lengthy montage when Michelle Forbes left, or that Pam Long was willing to showcase Sonni/Josh so much for her farewell. The care taken reminds me of when Anne Heche left AW a few years later. Given that Sonni was brought in an as interloper, it shows just how much respect the show had for Michelle's talents and how much she captivated viewers in those two years.

Oh I think Holly gives Blake a smack in the mouth. I think it was during Liz's early days as Blake as that is when they become estranged for a good while, although I may be wrong.
    • Billy slapping Mindy is a turning point in '90. And I feel there was a slap between Holly and Blake during the Ross thing.
    • That definitely was her voice.
    • I was going to put this Lisa Brenner interview in the AW thread but I'm not sure she says much about AW in it. I admittedly skipped around a lot as the interviewer's style annoyed me.

    • Today was amazing, for so many reasons. Others have complained certain stories are dragging and others have rightly pointed out, the show only premiered THREE MONTHS AGO! Yes, the caps are dramatic, but I think they seize the moment appropriately. I have watched more than a few soap opera debuts. BTG, is by far, the best, first three months of a show, I have ever seen. MVJ, rightly, found the best in the business to avoid as my pitfalls as they could, to get the show settled quickly. They have found their footing. Is it perfect, no, but is it as close to excellence I've seen this quickly, yes. I loved today's scenes, particularly with Anita. That voice reading the letter, sounded like June
