So Because Marci & Kate both would only recur & Days is too Chicken [!@#$%^&*] to recast with a capable actress  and there are many that can play the role, they do this Murder Mystery that came out of no where for no reason. Just because someone at Days gives Ron too much power and its all about his faves and his ego
