Preparing for the launch of “Sherri” and “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” it looks like the FOX Television Stations group is cleaning house following the cancellations of “The Wendy Williams Show” and the reported cancellation of “Nick Cannon Show.” Now comes word that the station group has also decided against moving forward with “The Good Dish” which replaced “The Dr. Oz Show” on the core FOX stations.

From Sony Pictures Television which also produced “Dr. Oz,” “The Good Dish” combined “good food, good friends and good dish” with the premise that fun could be had in the kitchen without even having to do the dishes (what?). The show was hosted by resident foodies Daphne Oz, Gail Simmons and Jamika Passoa as they shared easy-to-recreate recipes, simple shortcuts, money-saving tips, must-have trends, and effortless how-tos. “It’s all about having confidence and fun in the kitchen… and in life!” read the tag.

According to Deadline, SPT is looking to shop the series with cable or streaming as a likely option. The studio declined to comment on the show’s cancellation by the FOX group, however.

Launched in mid-January with a 90% clearance rate, including on top stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Dallas, “The Good Dish” was a last-minute replacement for “Dr. Oz” following Dr. Mehmet Oz’s decision to run for a Senate seat in Pennsylvania. Despite his show being previously renewed through the 2022-2023 television season, which would have marked his 14th season on the air, election laws in the United States bar a political candidate from using a national platform during election season based on equal–time rules which caused the show’s early demise. The medical talk show launched in September 2009 after Oz made multiple appearances on the then long-running Oprah Winfrey-hosted talk show, “Oprah.”

In the ratings, “The Good Dish” never gained any traction, most recently tying the 0.4 household rating of the reportedly canceled “Nick Cannon Show,” according to data released by TVNewsCheck for the week of February 21-25, 2022, the most recent week in which ratings are available for syndicated television.

Among all of the daytime syndicated talk shows, “Good Dish” barely performed higher than last-place finishers “The Real” (0.3 HH rating), “The Doctors” (0.2 HH rating) and reruns of the years ago canceled “Jerry Springer” (0.3 HH rating).

    • This underscores the biggest issue that the show needs to work on.   The majority of the characters on the show are all related to one another, which is why we have that B&B esque Dani/Andre hook up situation

    • It was a good episode. I didn't expect things to unravel so soon.   One thing I still don't like about these big events: Where was everyone else?   This is a big event. Everyone should've been there.
    • Mitch, thanks for that history of the Reardon Boarding House kitchen.  I had always assumed that every time the kitchen set returned, it was a recreation of the original set.  So I have been wrong about that.   Was the kitchen set ever used later, while Buzz and the Coopers owned the boarding house?

    • Do they ever do anything well?  The show is about 4 week story arcs - if that it feels like.  Why wouldn’t you spend a month of subtle hints.  Late to events and don’t telegraph it.  Have repeated issues with time; I had a friend whose Mom suddenly was forgetting half the meal in the fridge to be heated for a meal; twice her husband had to go to her work to get her because she was still working and only noticed no one was there until he walked in to find her and make her come home (it was a doctor’s office, there’s not that kind of job);  knowing she had an appointment and not be worried by it, etc.   No, they have him do a head bonk and bam it’s cancer.     It’s almost an insult.

    • Today showed why almost no one comments on this crap soap. -- We're back to pretending that there aren't SCORES of cosmetics companies out there --  only Jabot and whoever else opens up shop in Genoa City to be the competition. No real business runs this way. -- Marchetti is supposed to be an internationally-renowned fashion house, yet both Chelsea and Sally are ready to walk after being high-level executives there. -- It's not often women leave choice executive positions in their field of expertise to work in a business they're clueless about. -- Sally had a lot of nerve shading Chelsea with "It's easy to see Adam's influence on you" when the same damn thing is happening with Billy. -- I'm glad Lauren told Michael to quit, since we've all been mouthing that for weeks. None of that story is helped by CLB's over-the-top acting. -- The scene with Victoria helping a sick, coughing Cole walk to their car on the way to the hospital was laughable. Wouldn't rich people call a damn ambulance? -- Claire was really concerned, wasn't she? She stayed in the doorway instead of helping her mother, and then headed right to Crimson Lights for coffee. Why bother with checking on her possible terminal father at the hospital?
