Seeing as Ron used to love that Talk Soup/The Soup was roasting his GH and IIRC began actively writing the show into scripts and courting its attention, that's on brand.

I will never get over the Soup skit making fun of Luke's flashback episode where Tony Geary played Luke's abusive dad, with Tony Hale howling 'you're old, Luke!' and ranting about their inability to do a second take of any scene no matter what. I wish it was still available.

ETA: You're welcome. 12:08 into the video. Be sure to have AdBlock.

Yeah, I doubt Sarah/Renee would tell Marlena/DH she's aged lol.  It should have just been a blanket reaction to all the characters she knew.  Even saying something like Tony/Anna looked older than she remembered or something because at the moment it feels like she was singling out Maggie.

I never got that. SK wasn't fat.  He gained weight since the 90's, but he was still hot.  MB and SBu don't look like they did in 1995.   In fact SBu looks like an entirely different person and MB is certainly not the smoke show he was in the 90's.

I honestly don't think it was meant to be a dig at SR/Maggie, it was just noticeable because she didn't say that to anyone else.  I assume it just a poor dialogue choice.

That's the thing about Ron Carlivati: it all looks and sounds innocent enough AT FIRST.  Then, one crack becomes two, two cracks become three, and so on and so forth, until it's practically all you hear and/or see whenever the actor/character is even mentioned.  It's what eventually happened with Sean Kanan and the "fat jokes" on GH - not to mention, Heather's sudden, irrational cravings for BLT's on the same show - as well as what happened on DAYS with Julie and all the times RC had her spitefully call Gabi "Chiquita."  (I swear, there's literally an entire generation of DAYS fans who are CONVINCED that Julie, once one of daytime's most complex and beloved anti-heroines, is a racist old bitty, and that's enough to make me cry.)

I wouldn't be surprised if, before too long, he'll have EVERYbody in Salem making cracks about how long in the tooth Maggie's getting while she suffers from bladder control issues and "leaks" on her and Victor's couch.  That crass, unfunny jackhole just doesn't know when to stop.

It's strange because RC doesn't do that to men on Days.  He goes out of his way to say Victor and Doug are super active and spry.  And of course I want to articulate this delicately, but BH is a 96 year old man.  John Aniston clearly has back problems and mobility issues.   BH is looking fabulous for his age, but I don't believe Doug is a racquet ball champion.

SR is much younger and looks and acts it.  They have painted Julie into a old, grumpy, slightly racist lady as well like you said.  But on the flip side Kate, Marlena, and Anna run around town fighting evil and bedding younger men.  I do think it has to do with who they are paired with as well.  Tony, John, and I guess Roman are more viable and younger.

Probably.  I remember various characters referring to her as a "slut" on several occasions - beginning immediately with Echo's reintroduction at Dorian's house.  Maybe they were all references to the fact that KZ once portrayed the self-proclaimed "Slut of Springfield," but if you never watched an episode of GL in your life, then you probably never got the jokes - if that's what they, in fact, were - and if you didn't get the jokes, then you likely thought it was cruel, even toward a known homewrecker like Echo DiSavoy, and, well, slut-shamey.

Yup, it is, lol.

I thought it was Beth?  Maybe Dinah was making those cracks, too?  IDK.  It just seemed like cheap shots at the ALWAYS gorgeous Maeve Kinkead's expense.

    • I really appreciated all the movement in today's episode.  It resonated with me that it felt like the sort of nervous energy that can surround a family after death. I want to point out the EJ scene.  I was riveted by his multi-layered performance. When he told Belle that he went to her because he loved her, and then saw that she was embarrassed by him, and rejected the part of her that was attracted to him.  It started to make even more sense why he would try to protect Johnny (who I still don't think shot him).  EJ feels like a pariah (although TBH, it wouldn't have hurt to bring Marlena some of that tea that everyone had been promising her all morning).  And he doesn't want to pass that along to his son by exposing him as the shooter.
    • -- What a stupid party. Devon and Abby leave while Victor goes upstairs to the GCAC bar and talks with Kyle. Then we see Jack giving Nikki ANOTHER birthday toast as if the party has just begun. Huh??? -- This party perfectly encapsulates sweeps month for this show: lame, deadly, boring af. -- Once again, Cole gets really sick and no one insists on an ambulance or the ER. They really want him dead, don't they? Instead we hear multiple characters say "Gee, I hope Victoria doesn't catch it." Cole will be dead before Dumas. -- Kyle is really offering to make a contract with Victor so he can continue to see Claire? Jesus Wept. -- And then the shoe ends with Victor praising Nikki for softening his heart over the years -- after we've seen him treat Kyle, Michael, and Jack like sh_it for days.
    • Your welcome! Will never understand the point of Budig! I forget she’s there 95% of the time and Thudley does too!
    • I do think Zane could have been a decent long-term addition if they hadn't disposed of him - up to Lucas' arrival, at least.
    • It is 4 feet!!! https://www.hulu.com/hub/tv/collections/9979 Today, GH, I am amazed. #1 Up from #2 on Saturday, which was up from #4 during the week last week.

    • If he was responsible for Egyptian dust, you should have led with that! That one thing cinches it for me.
    • I would consider recasting Nikolas again just for the sake of those around him, but you may be right.
    • Watched Mondays episode, wow! That’s all I have to say. It was heartbreaking to watch. You really don’t know how invested you are in these characters until moments like this. Deidre was absolutely phenomenal in that whole episode, as I am sure she will be in the coming weeks. I was a bit torn about having Bo and Hope being the contrast in this episode, but I understand why they did it. And when Bo woke up and said fancy face to Hope, it broke me even more! Honestly, there are no more words except bravo to everyone involved and RIP to the greatest hero that ever existed in soaps John Black

    • Watching this longer clip I truly am impressed with the effects but also the direction - the moments of fear in the ballroom before the blast are wonderful. What I appreciate most here is the lack of a montage and the lack of aggressive editing.  This all looks better than quite a bit you could find elsewhere at the time, let alone now. Julia should have avoided weddings.
    • I hope somewhere in the fictional universe, Sami called Vivian to tell her about John. They just shared an Uber to the airport, so I assume they have each other's contact info (no matter the universe, they both probably only have 3
