That makes perfect sense!

In that case, I'd have to say it's a tie between "What You Don't Know Can Kill You" (s12, ep22) and "Mrs. Parker's Revenge" (s12, e23) for worst, non-bookend MSW episode, with "Parker" having the slight edge on account of the episode feeling like a recycled "Wonder Woman" or "Matlock," penned by someone (Anne C. Collins) who wasn't all that familiar with the show or with J.B. Fletcher.

When someone asked on Reddit I remember other responses being a Native American episode and one with Jenny Lewis involving a piano teacher.

 Fringe Benefits

Stage-and-screen veteran Angela Lansbury (above) admits that series TV "doesn't measure up to the movies or the stage. With a new cast every eight days, there's no time to develop relationships," she laments. So why is Lansbury so keen to return for a second season of CBS's Murder, She Wrote? "Half of it has to do with reaching that vast audience. | haven't made a movie in the U.S. since 1970. This chance to play to the great U.S. public is a chance you don't pass up." And the other half? "There's also a lot of money involved," she says. "Let's not kid ourselves!"

Happy Birthday Angela!!

I only owned the first 3 seasons of MSW...I today on Angela's 100th..bought the complete series for myself and a friend. Hallmark Mystery is taking it off the air until January (airing nonstop Chistmas/holiday shows) and we need our MSW!!

Forever a legend.

Angela Lansbury had a career ranging from Golden Age Hollywood to Broadway to television, but for me her two signature roles will always be Jessica Fletcher and Mrs. Potts.

I remember seeing her as a supporting character in the gothic classis Gaslight starring Ingrid Bergman.. and later as the other woman in State of the Union starring Hepburn/Tracy.

It was a shock to my system seeing sweet Mrs Fletcher playing such different characters and then seeing her in the epic mini series Lace and the heartwarming The Gift of love: A Christmas Story... and it just sealed in my mind that she could play any character and play them well.

Ah, yes, I remember it well, lol.

"School for Scandal" aired early in the second season.  IIRC, Jessica was invited to give the commencement speech at some university.  Of course, once she arrives and gets to know all the players, some bastard turns up dead (in a pile of garbage, I think?) and it's up to her to "assist" the local authorities in uncovering the killer's identity.

(I won't reveal "whodunnit" in case you haven't seen it yet, but know that it is someone pictured in that ad.)

As far as MSW's go, "Scandal" is routine, among neither the series' best nor worst.  There's a "shocking revelation" regarding an authoress' true identity that I kinda saw coming.  Otherwise, it's not a bad way to kill 40-odd minutes (no pun intended, lol).

Haha thanks I had seen this posted in the Retro TV Listings group. I know I’ve seen this episode before and thought it was relevant with Lockhart’s recent passing.

Interestingly enough the episode’s killer had their own career resuscitated just like a month or so before by starring a very successful comedy horror flick I still personally love to this day.

You know, I actually had to stop and look up which movie you were talking about?  Which shows you just how little I know about the horror movie genre, lol.
