I actually laughed when I saw that both Showtime cable and Showtime streaming had been rebranded as "Paramount + with Showtime."  What a cumbersome ass name, I thought, for an outlet that probably will have to rebrand itself again if/when Paramount + goes under.

It wouldn't surprise me, if down the line, Paramount + and Showtime are subsumed into Pluto, lol.

It's not a question of quality, though, as far as the Star Trek-related series go.  What I am suggesting is that, sooner or later, there will come a point when people will have reached their saturation point with all the related franchises on streaming, regardless of individual quality.  Same holds true for Marvel, for Star Wars, for Game of Thrones, for Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, etc.

It’s just too bad Procter and Gamble was too foolish to see that they could hop on a FAST platform and their archive alone on its own strength could like help sell product. Hell, if it were me, I’d hire former soap stars to do ads for today’s products (who wouldn’t love to see Linda Dano pushing Zevo, lol? Or Amelia Marshall in a “My Black Is Beautiful” ad?) Procter & Gamble used to be brilliant at this sort of thing, future and past stars on their shows would often appear in ads for their products that would run during the airing of their soaps. I should have realized that when they stopped doing this, the demise of the industry wasn’t far behind.

But yeah, even before the TOLN soaps, others made me aware P&G had collaborated with AOL in streaming their episodes (I was no longer watching soaps that closely at that time so I missed the AOL period) and even after the cancellation of GL and ATWTP&G allowed an independent company (Soap Classics) license to package DVDs of classic episodes as well as stream classic episodes on a streaming platform that ran in two countries, which I remember and was sad that they didn’t extend the license to the Soap Classics people. P&G, as is often the case, were actually the first but they gave up on the value of their soaps too quickly.

Speaking on the sheer breadth of intellectual property alone, P&G could have had a streaming channel of their own, if they had the ambition, it could have been a platform.

Everything is so muddled now between broadcast, cable, daytime/primetime, and streaming. I don't think the platform really matters.

Several shows have jumped around between all. Yellowstone, Only Murders in the Building, Star Trek .. etc.

If it creates buzz and is well done, it will be successful.

    • That was so surprising to me today. I didn’t see any spoilers that this was coming up so I loved it!
    • Well, VI was leaving, and while Long admits that killing him was stupid...I do agree with letting him go with a big bang...body missing.  They spent a lot of time and money on Infinity, (which I think might have gotten a bit of a better reputation had it not been the harbinger of a total tonal change with the Bauers and Reardon's decimated and its all Reva and the Lewis and the weird people hanging out around Kyle) so they needed it to end dramatically. They could have done so much more with having Alex go after Kyle and Billy, but that ends and she starts moping over weird and boring Simon. With Kurt..what were you going to do.. cute but boring and perfect and with ties to no one (they had a nice little thing where Bea took him under her wing when everyone left but then she did too..) If they had the balls they would have had Rick and Mindy jump in the sack ( I know, Mindy should have learned birth control by then) I would have had it be Mindy who knows about Rick's drug use and she tries to help him...(not that nobody who came and went) of course, Kurt and Roxie misunderstand..that on top of her bad Sampson Girl thing leaves him to leave her temporarily, and in grand soap tradition, Rick and Mindy console each other (again, I would write it that they always really did, and Mindy rushed into things with Kurt) and she gets knocked up, and loving Rick but also Kurt she chooses to believe it is Kurts (which I could see Princess Mindy doing "My life is perfect and I will it that way, this is Kurts kid")But, she had the dumb model thing, then she burned down the house he was building, she tried to get prefers and he dies (but also Kobe was the one who built him up, then she was gone when he was let go.) Ross believe it or not is one of the last of the "old guard" characters, beside Ed (who is now FauxEd) and Maureen, and Henry and Van (who is ties to being the Lewis family mope.) JVD has made jokes that they didn't write him out as they simply forgot that he was there!
    • Excellent! The OLTL-GH promo places this and the RH episode (which I assume aired directly before this AMC) as airing during the week of Aug. 20.
    • Thanks! There's never enough early 1980s AMC around.    The only actor I don't recognize is the actress playing Wanda, Mike's agent.
    • lol he sounds like he's speaking as Randy
    • Dani going to Bill's house is karma for how he messes with Martin. It is totally separate, but I can't feel sorry for Bill when he's constantly antagonizing a family he says he wants nothing to do with.
    • I understand what Lois did. I can see everyone's side, even if I don't agree with them.  That  proves it's a good story    Lois is far from ruined
    • Oh wow. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
