Throw longtime viewers a bone by having a character pop up from the past that is meaningless, and then say things like honoring history or like you’ve never seen them like this before.

At the least, she should be Chase’s mother.  That ties her to today.  But in the grand scheme of things Jackie only matters because Demi played her, and she and her sister Laura were blips with little impact.  You say history and blank slate.  I see lazy and pointless by making her Jackie.  Especially if she isn’t going to be around for a real contract.

I do credit GH with hiring someone with actual talent that hasn’t been on soaps since their 80’s peak, and someone that has had a steady career in primetime.

Right after she finishes her crochet class.

I'm sick of them tying new hires to crap families like Finn and Chase.   Finn could leave tomorrow and  he wouldn't be missed,  with the exception of Anna, but she wastes all her time on another waste of a character, Peter.  Obrecht should have just taken Finn and Peter out two years ago.  The town would throw her a party instead of in jail.   Chase doesn't need a mother.  What happened to the days of a cop or doctor that wasn't related to one of #firefranks pets? Or anyone?

John, any time any soap makes a big move you get excited by it. Some of us need a little more than that.

I actually don't think recasting Jackie with a major star is a terrible thing given the connection to Scorpio and others currently in play on the canvas, but I do think that given her totally inconsequential place in things outside of being played by a Hollywood star it smacks of shock value and it's another stunt on a show with no decent stories whatsoever.

True. But maybe if this is a success, the show will FINALLY stop waiting for Richard Dean Anderson to return (he WON'T!) and recast freaking Jeff Webber already. I don't even like Liz much, to be honest. But it's now BEYOND ridiculous, with all that has befallen her after two DECADES, that her parents have NEVER appeared. So if this is a test, let it happen. And then maybe we can also get Liz's mom as proof she wasn't hatched.

I look at it this way:

Paul Hornsby was a DUD in 1991-1994 but Richard Burgi gave him presence and GH actually gave him personality in 2015-2016. I hated him being that all of the sudden killer but i guess it cannot be all 100%

But If GH can do this with Paul then maybe Jackie under Kim Delaney and new writers will have grown out of the shrew that Demi played.

YES and RECAST Jeff Webber

Jeff Fahey

Gregory Harrison

William Moses

Lots of actors could fit that gig. Its criminal that Liz has never had scenes with her folks

Tristan said in a couple of his cameo vids that the Holly story was being dropped because Emma Samms has Long COVID.  So they are going on to other stories which he'll be featured in.  And he doesn't think they'll restart the Holly storyline until next year sometime, when (hopefully) Emma is better.

For anyone who missed it, Emma Samms August 17th article, on "Long COVID"

https://people.com/tv/dynasty-emma-samms-talks-long-covid-symptoms/

On the other hand, Emma did tweet this, on the day GH showed Holly on a camera somewhere alive. (presumably this was filmed remotely via video chat or something?)

If Tristan is correct, then maybe that's all we'll see of Holly for now?

And again.  I love Holly, especially with Robert.  But this is even worse than the Robin is dead storyline because Robert is literally the only one left who cares that is on the show often, and he isn’t under contract.  Ethan is a guest star.  Holly is a guest star.  Wtf GH.

Tell a story like this with a current cast member that is under contract.

You have both Liz and Carly right now just twisting in the wind.  Anna too(I mean Alex faking as Anna while she is held captive is just waiting to be told with the Peter implications).

    • I think Jason might've posted some numbers for the syndication a while ago and the numbers for Falcon Crest was horrible. Like 1.5 rating or something, which was terrible.    ETA: it was actually Paul Raven:   New to syndication 60 min Fall Guy 67 markets 3.1/8 Falcon Crest 110 markets 1.1/5 To get into the top 40, you needed a 4.6/9 rating for reference - and Falcon Crest managed to get into a lot of markets to begin with. In the fall of 1985 Dynasty, Dallas and Knots were syndicated (show / rating / share / coverage % / markets): Dallas 3.4 10 51.7 92 Dynasty 3.4 10 48.7 47  Knots Landing 3.3 10 12.5 20  So, Knots as an example trippled Falcon Crest's rating with 20 markets - I'm sure those were major ones but it just goes to show you how much Falcon Crest bombed in syndication.
    • It's not bad but the stories move too slow. It's the same problem when Dan O'Connor was CO-HW with Van Etten, they have a million stories and they all drag on endlessly with no resolution. I'd argue the majority of the stories airing now are good but you get sick of waiting months for something to happen.
    • Thanks. I must have missed that period entirely for Lifetime.
    • Thanks. I know Marland did that type of thing sometimes but it's less likely with these characters. I don't even remember Alex ever mentioning him.
    • French fan summary Rusty took over Simon's job at Lewis Trucking after Simon transferred to Lewis Oil's North Carolina office to live near Jessie and Calla. I doubt they would bother following up a story for offscreen characters eg marriage and a baby.
    • I suspected that the performance with the reveal was the reason why the Ted actor got the axe and it looks like I was right. He wasn't really good at conveying what needed to be conveyed in those scenes. Claybon is at least slowly improving (but I agree that he still needs to work on his line delivery), but I do wonder what will happen when his big reveal is coming up.
    • I've already asked this before, recently, but can anyone who watched those years more closely tell me if anything said about Jessie and Simon at the end of their profiles is accurate (about them marrying, naming a baby after Brandon/Lujack, etc.)?
    • Nicole is way too smart to not know she was carrying twins - she's a doctor! My guess is that Leslie did abort her baby out of fear, and as payback, stole Ted and Nicole's child (Eva), and stole Kat from another family to replace her in the hospital.
    • Those Soap Central profiles have a lot of incorrect info. According to SOD summaries and the Daytime Newsletter of the time,Tim left town for a new job and Pam reunited with the father of her baby and also departed Springfield. They did not marry.
    • Do we believe that Jabot is at the level of Estee Lauder?? I am on board with Jabot deciding to expand but the way it was handled was ridiculous. Jabot just decided and bingo, that was that. Not months of negotiations and decisions about how it would fit into the Jabot portfolio. And then no follow through. Josh thinks he's serving business stories by characters sitting around and discussing mergers, takeovers and job switching. Now we have Audra setting up her own company -Vibrator or something. Well, why not? You don't need staff, office space or even products.
