My older brothers as kids loved Kiss (I like a few songs of theirs, too.). May Ace Frehley rest in peace. Tough year for rock musicians. First Ozzy, now Ace.

Oh yeah - when I was growing up my mother spoke about how much a cousin of her loved Kiss, he had their poster in his room, etc. They were huge for a while.

I did enjoy their TV movie at the amusement park (which they reportedly wanted nothing to do with). I saw it a few years ago. And I enjoy a few of their songs. "Beth" is sweet.

I feel like this is the third or fourth celebrity passing this year from a fall. Poor Connie Francis was another. I know it's common, but every time I hear the news I just worry more about whether I'm being careful enough when I go around.

Samantha Eggar was mesmerizing in so many roles big or small, including a memorable turn on Star Trek: The Next Generation. I know her best from her terrifying performance in David Cronenberg's The Brood, as well as stealing the show out from Linda Thorson and other talented women in the Bob Guza-penned Canadian slasher classic Curtains. I recommend both films to everyone, but Eggar was good in anything. Even her dreadful role as Finola Hughes' evil spy mom on AMC!

Samantha Eggar was way, way overqualified for that ludicrous mess on AMC, but she was just wonderful on TNG and in so many films. I'm a big fan of The Collector and The Brood, along with The Seven Per Cent Solution with her, Robert Duvall, Vanessa Redgrave, Alan Arkin, and Laurence Olivier. Very 70s and of the era where they just threw a bunch of stars together but still very enjoyable.

Samantha Eggar has passed, making her the third Oscar nominated actress to pass way this week! Goddamn!

Speaking of that, we may as well say rest in peace to Penelope Milford:

Sorry to hear about Eggar. She was beautiful and I always thought she had a great star name. A shame her AMC run wasn't better, but it was still somehow driving story on GH twenty years later.

I know this always happens, everyone goes, but it does feel like we lost a lot more people than usual this past week.

Wasn't it Samantha Eggar who was first cast as Pamela Capwell Conrad on Santa Barbara, but then she could not handle the pace of daytime and dropped out? Either way, may she rest in peace.

A bit of trivia: Eggar's daughter is actress Jenna Stern, who has played multiple guest roles across the Law & Order franchise over the years.

There have been a lot of really beautiful tributes to Diane Keaton over the past week- the Jane Fonda, Meryl Streep, and Goldie Hawn remembrances were especially poignant- but these two really stood out to me:

Her and Pacino clearly had a long complicated past as an on and off couple until sometime in the 90s (a lot of photos/letters/videos from when they were a couple have gone viral this week) but there was obviously still a lot of affection and love there

Thanks for posting, Faulkner. She was a true gem of a woman and a great actress. With all the different people she worked it, you could just imagine the stories she had to tell, and she was one of the last to ever be able to tell them. A true loss.

June Lockhart had the most thankless jobs in the TV industry, playing mom to precocious brats on two godawful shows, and she performed them both with nothing less than true professionalism and heart.  She definitely will be missed.

I first saw her as Felicia's grandmother on GH so she'll always be that in my mind. She really elevated what could have just been a thankless role. What a career and legacy.
