I checked the soap central recaps and they have that day as a preemption.

Nielsen has an episode of BB airing on 12/25/97 from 130-2PM. 95 percent of the country got it. If it's a repeat episode (like CBS lists Y&R Classics in Nielsen), it's not denoted as such. It's also not listed as a "special" or "breakout" episode, so it counts towards the regular ratings.

BoldKara, whatever dates are not on the preemptions lists that I post, it means an episode aired that day.

I thought it might have been a classic shown. I knew Y&R aired Christmas 1987 on Christmas Day 1997 but wasn’t sure B&B aired something classic too. Good to know.

I somehow remember B&B Christmas 1997 being a repeat of the Lake Como fashion show, but I could be wrong.

Soap Central says GL did not air on 12/26/97 either. Presumably another classic episode. Tricky! I don't think CBS started the classic airings til the mid-90s though, so the preemptions from Nielsen from the 80s through early 90s should all be good.

 

For GL 12/31/97 I am surprised it's listed as a preemption. There's no Soap Central recap due to some kind of website glitch (there's nothing listed at all) but there is an episode with that date on YouTube (no commercials so can't verify the date is correct) plus an episode dated 1/2/98 that picks up directly from it (but no usenet or Soap Central recaps for either day). And then an episode dated Monday, 1/5/98 that does match the Soap Central recap, implying that the previous dates were also correct (they have the full months of December and January). Bit of a mystery there.
