Soap Opera Digest's Best & Worst of 1987

Marland never won a writing Emmy for his work on ATWT. His only writing Emmys as a HW came from his work on GL (back to back in 1981 and 1982). He also won as a staff writer on Harding Lemay's AW team in 1975.

Similarly, Elizabeth Hubbard never won for playing Lucinda despite nominations in 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1999. I'd even say she was criminally robbed in some of these years. At least she has the distinction of winning the first ever Best Actress Daytime Emmy for her work on The Doctors though.

WSB vs DVX I think.

Basically there was a storyline where Bobbie's step-daughter Terry Brock fell in love with Dusty, played by Shaun Cassidy. And the two started singing together. But Dusty had been brainwashed by the DVX or something and his song was the trigger. Everyone ended up at Mt Rushmore for their concert and I think Duke, Anna and Robert had to chase down a train with a nuclear bomb on board.

yes, that's correct. Elena was Dusty's 'friend' but was also an agent of the DVX.

And correction to my earlier post - the bomb on the train wasn't actually nuclear but it was set to detonate near an early warning nuclear weapons alert system. This would presumably  have triggered many nuclear weapons and caused world war 3.

    • Weirdly I feel like Nina was the most sus about the entire situation.  Normally I would have given this one to Carly, but Nina was always kind of trying to make it make sense. I think Nina (and Alexis) are actually really smart characters.  They just constantly get in their own way with dumb plans lol.
    • Rewatching some of 1991 I had to appreciate what a strong week March 5-12 1991 was. Cassandra dies, Nina shoots David, Sheila switces the babies, and drunk Nikki all occurring simultaneously. 1991 and 92 were pretty strong overall.
    • Still loving all the Gio fallout, but the scenes that really surprised me this episode were the ones with Nina and Maxie. I was not expecting Nina to be the one to put together all the pieces about Sasha's baby daddy. This custody hearing is about to get explosive!
    • I really hope after the secret comes out their interactions don't stop
    • BAHAHA  I needed that laugh today. Talk about one note.  I would put Derek and Ashley a notch above Dani. Dani's scenes are basically rinse, lather, and repeat for 60 episodes and counting.  It's as if she was transported from the soap opera Passions onto this soap.  MVJ should put aside her friendship/admiration for Karla and look at the fact that this character isn't wroking as written.
    • Agreed.  It doesn't feel in character at all.
    • You could always tell whenever Douglas Marland enjoyed writing for a particular actor, because he'd pull out all the stops for them; and Julianne Moore was no exception.
    • I'm sorry, but I just can't get past the fact that it was Lois, of all people, who deceived so many people.  No matter how hard Rena Sofer tries to justify Lois' actions - and boy, does she work hard! - it just isn't something Lois would've done.
    • Honestly, Olivia had kind of a good reason to keep her son safe from a mobster for two decades.  Sonny literally shot Dante in the chest lol and had multiple family members die, get injured, threatened, kidnapped, etc, etc.   I know you don't watch the show very often, but it's not like Olivia should have shown up and given Sonny and his 18-year-old girlfriend Brenda shared custody of a kid.  That would have been a horrible, life threatening idea.
    • Those fools will follow him over the cliff, because they look at him as their last gasp at relevance.
