They paired Danny & Cassie up for a little bit in the fall of 2002 when Danny was pretending to be dead to trap Carmen, and Cassie was taking care of him as he recovered from a gunshot wound. Apparently, the rabid Danny/Michelle fans didn't like what they were seeing and handed Laura Wright some sort of voodoo doll at that fall's GL event. So the story goes.

Oh this is all coming back to me now. I was in college then so wasn’t watching regularly, but I remember the controversy from Manny stans. Paul and Laura were wonderful together on Loving (I watched their story only recently).

Another one: Kelly Monaco and Michael Easton (Livvie/Caleb, PC and Sam/John & Sam/Silas on GH)

Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams feels like cheating since Debbi was still playing Angie, but they paired her with Jesse’s doppelgänger Jacob on Loving and The City.

John Reilly and Sharon Wyatt

Sean/Tiffany, GH

Alistair/Rachel, Passions

That wouldnt count. Passions wasnt trying to recreate any magic here as they werent telling a love story about Alistair and Rachel. What was written for them was pretty twisted

True.

But it is kind of an example as to how trying to replicate a popular coupling on a different soap rarely ever works. It's pretty clear that Passions was hoping to lure Sean and Tiffany fans in by having JR and SW work together again, but with the bad writing and the budget cuts that year, Passions had no chance.

And I still hold that Stefan is Nichols best soap role...

I agree.  I loved Stefan.  But I didn't like Katherine.  And I was a huge Patch and Kayla fan.  Weird how that works.

Don’t know if this counts, but Beth Ehlers ditched GL for AMC to be paired with Ricky Paul Goldin again only for it to epicly blow up in her face.
