Members Faulkner
The BTS Army is hyped: Eventually we’re gonna have every artist do a BTS remix to get a No. 1 (unless Billboard adjusts its formula).
Administrator Toups Posted October 12, 2020 Administrator Share Posted October 12, 2020 They really do. Remixes should be its own entity and not combined with the original.
Members Faulkner
I completely agree. Some chart predictions show “Dreams” going top 10 next week. Ain’t that something?
Administrator Toups Posted October 13, 2020 Administrator Share Posted October 13, 2020 Another thing Billboard should change is that a song must be played all the way through for it to count as one stream.

Members kalbir
Ariana Grande is the 16th female solo artist to reach 5 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. The female solo artists with 5 or more #1s on the Billboard Hot 100 are Mariah Carey (19), Rihanna (14), Madonna (12), Whitney Houston (11), Janet Jackson (10), Katy Perry (9), Beyoncé (7), Diana Ross (6), Paula Abdul (6), Taylor Swift (6), Barbara Streisand (5), Olivia Newton-John (5), Britney Spears (5), Christina Aguilera (5), Lady Gaga (5), Ariana Grande (5). When all artists are counted (male solo, female solo, duo/group), Ariana Grande is the 43rd artist to reach 5 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100.

Members Faulkner
BTS fans have learned how to game the system so well that BTS is going to end up with the most No. 1s in history if BB doesn’t significantly change methodology.
Administrator Toups Posted November 30, 2020 Administrator Share Posted November 30, 2020 Agreed that Billboard needs to make changes to the Hot 100. But how? What about giving more points to radio play and streaming and less to sales? With sales, you can basically buy your way to #1 if you get enough of your fans to purchase the single. At least with big radio play, it means more people have heard of it, and there's longevity too. Also, don't allow these pay-and-play on radio where companies pay radio stations to play a song every hour for 24 hours - I only know of this because Taylor did it for some of her lead singles. Hitting #1 used to be big and "special" but now it's just getting ridiculous with so many #1s and one-week-wonders.
Members Faulkner
Yeah, for me, charts need to accurately reflect what people are consuming, and streaming and radio are the ways most people listen to music. And the industry wants to incentivize revenue and reward fandom. But how many people beyond the small-set of BTS fans are listening to “Life Goes On”? That’s really the No. 1 song in America now? The charts have always been an imperfect way of providing a snapshot of what’s popular, but I can’t see how Billboard’s current situation does anything other than accelerate their march toward total irrelevance.
