Kim Cattrall vs Sarah Jessica Parker

Not only do I NOT see the need for another SATC movie but I was surprised when they did a sequel after the tepid response from the first movie.  It didn't tank, I'm pretty sure it made its investment back but it was far from the runaway success at the box office that usually inspires sequels.

I say, "let it be".  There are other far more compelling stories out there to be told about female friendships. And this, coming from someone who enjoyed the HBO series.

Also, in terms of the KC vs SJP feud, I think it's bad form for someone to take their condolences out into the public sphere when they are not on good terms with the mourner-- you make it about you, instead of the feelings of those who are actually grieving.

Finally, there shouldn't be pressure on someone who is mourning to be the one to "step up" and make the condolence wisher feel better about themselves.  That is the height of self-centeredness.  Again, truly bad form, IMO.

SJP's condolences and wishes for reconciliation could have been done privately with no expectation of a reciprocation, which may have hurt but that's life and at least, she would have known that she tried (in a dignified manner) to reconcile.  To put this all out there for public consummation was not about KC it was about SJP and her need for positive PR.  She should've respected the fact that her former colleague is likely reeling from a devastating loss and may be in no mood to 'unpack countless baggage' with SJP.  Maybe wait until a more appropriate time? That's if, it's truly about repairing a fractured relationship and not all about SJP.

THIS.

The second movie was a HUGE waste of time.  None of the "girls" evolved.  Carrie's relationship drama with Big, not to mention her reunion (and stolen kiss) with Aidan, was all contrived.  And just as the FIRST movie caught flak for featuring Jennifer Hudson in an updated "Mammy" role, the second movie seemed to trade on Americans' ignorance of people from the Middle East.

I truly wish SJP and her equally irrelevant husband would just go quietly into obscurity together.

Exactly.  If someone you know is grieving, but you know you're not on good terms with them, then you just send a private message, offering your condolences and maybe an opportunity to "bury the hatchet" if/when that person should feel up to it.  And if you're a public figure like SJP, and you are cornered by the media as to whether or not you have touched base with KC, you tell them, "Kim has asked us all to respect her and her family's privacy at this time, and I intend to do that, thank you."  Done.

The movie made over 400 million. It was a big box office success. But it was also decent enough to warrant its existence, which SATC2 wasn't.

In any case, I agree. They should move on. I do not want a SATC without all four. No matter what, there will always be something missing. I mean, I'd watch it, but I don't think it'd feel complete.

That was the total BO. As far as I can tell, it cost 65 million and more than doubled that domestically. It was listed as the highest grossing romantic comedy of that year.

I never lost interest, even after SATC2 (although it helped nudge me that way). It never quite made sense to me why they ended it with Season 6 when it was still doing really well. SATC1 was like an entire 7th season. But they messed up with the second film. By now, I've just accepted it was what it was and it is done.

Yeah. I rememeber when the first movie came out and it was that big of a deal because enough time had passed that EVERYONE wanted to see how 'the girls' were doing. So yeah...it made bank.

I know why Michael King did the second movie....as a counterpoint to what was going on in the world which was dark, dark, dark...but yeah...it just was not as involving as the first.

    • nü Rachel is definitely more... theatrical than the former child actor.
    • He definitely has come into his own; I've maintained, since day one, he really should have been a Cameron recast; he'd still be in the age bracket with Emma/Josslyn/Trina, but just in a more organic, history-written way.
    • The thing is I think Giovanni Mazza works on his own.  GH obviously had no initial plan for him, but he's likeable, cute, and charismatic.  He needed a story with Trina or Emma.  He didn't need to be related to everyone in town to make him work.
    • But it's clear: they did not want that as the plot (Brook Lynn/Dante). This is a made-up plot to make the casting of Giovanni Mazza work.
    • Yeah I can't believe Rena returned for this, Even Brad didn't do this much of a hatchet job on Quinn in comparison to what GH did to Lois
    • It's crazy to me because Guza probably should have done this plot when they re-introduced AL's Brook in 2010.  Instead he went with the Dante/Brenda non-baby story so his two favorite toys could play together. I would have bought that story back then, TBH.
    • Mm-hmm; this is why the storyline, despite some standout performances, is an absolute mess. History of what we've seen played out is being ignored by the so-called historian "Elizabeth Korte" for their own storied history. Treating audiences like they're morons (well...) is not going to help your case.
    • I never watched the prior Brook Lynn actresses, except for Briana Lane's brief stint.  So I'm primarily familiar with Amanda's Brook Lynn. I did watch Lois and Ned decades ago when they first met and he was Eddie Maine.  I do remember Lois wanting honesty and feeling weird about Quartermaine nonsense.  I don't remember the details because I was watching it on live broadcast and it was so long ago, but I do remember in general what their characterizations were back then, (and that Wally was hot back then). There were many years I didn't watch GH at all because I objected to the mobster stuff.  So I have missed a lot.
    • That was weird because I wasn't sure if Doug saw them or not.  Both Johnny and Tate's backs were turned, but Doug 3 obviously knows Tate.  He didn't really react, so I am assuming he didn't see who she pointed out clearly. I got you!!  Lol.  You've already blamed this Days experiment of yours on me so the least I can do is answer your questions.
    • Yes, I am sure not everyone remembers Brook Lynn's romance with the Text Message Killer or her foray into being a paid escort first by Carly and then by Nik.  Those two examples you cited are when Amanda was actually in the role and are relatively recent.
