Y&R - New Casting

I will always be sad that neither Tony/Sharon or Tony/Victoria happened. Nick Scotti was love. Would they have proceeded with any of those or a triangle of sorts if Scotti hadn't left?

And then Alex was gone a year and a half or so later anyway...

There was definitely a Nick/Sharon/Tony love triangle being planned until Nick Scotti left. Once the writers knew he was leaving Tony was firmly paired with Megan until dying a year later.

Alex had great adversarial tension with Neil & Olivia but once they watered her down into a typical soap heroine she was useless. By the time Shemar left there was nothing for her on Y&R (despite being a partner in Michael & Cricket's law firm).

I always felt they wasted Alex. And it still burns me that Tonya Lee Williams was treated like a dayplayer and that she's not on the show. She really did deserve better. I've always liked her.

And this show keeps bringing on random black hunks but yet Nate can't get more than a cameo? What sense does this make? Oh, right, so they can try and pair him with Lily until they fire him.

Tony would have been some SERIOUS competition to Nick! A shame he left. That would have provided story for years (although Nick & Sharon certainly didn't lack for story).

What would they have done with Megan had Tony moved to Nick & Sharon's orbit? A shame if the Tricia stuff never happened....

Y&R will always be missing something without Olivia (and Dru) around.

I wouldn't believe that Neil would want to be with old ass Nikki.. especially after being with so many beautiful younger women like Hilary and Leslie. Neil and Nikki would be gross anyways. I cringed watching them kiss that one time.

Neil and Ashley is believable though. Who wouldn't be attracted to Ashley?

Todays show was a snoozefest dull as dishwater..Old Nostagia is tanking here. i will give Sally and Kay more time. YR needs that modern day touch as well as going back to basics. i will say it takes new head writers time to develop their vision. Jean and Shelly needed at GH before their powerful writing hit the screen.

    • Weirdly I feel like Nina was the most sus about the entire situation.  Normally I would have given this one to Carly, but Nina was always kind of trying to make it make sense. I think Nina (and Alexis) are actually really smart characters.  They just constantly get in their own way with dumb plans lol.
    • Rewatching some of 1991 I had to appreciate what a strong week March 5-12 1991 was. Cassandra dies, Nina shoots David, Sheila switces the babies, and drunk Nikki all occurring simultaneously. 1991 and 92 were pretty strong overall.
    • Still loving all the Gio fallout, but the scenes that really surprised me this episode were the ones with Nina and Maxie. I was not expecting Nina to be the one to put together all the pieces about Sasha's baby daddy. This custody hearing is about to get explosive!
    • I really hope after the secret comes out their interactions don't stop
    • BAHAHA  I needed that laugh today. Talk about one note.  I would put Derek and Ashley a notch above Dani. Dani's scenes are basically rinse, lather, and repeat for 60 episodes and counting.  It's as if she was transported from the soap opera Passions onto this soap.  MVJ should put aside her friendship/admiration for Karla and look at the fact that this character isn't wroking as written.
    • Agreed.  It doesn't feel in character at all.
    • You could always tell whenever Douglas Marland enjoyed writing for a particular actor, because he'd pull out all the stops for them; and Julianne Moore was no exception.
    • I'm sorry, but I just can't get past the fact that it was Lois, of all people, who deceived so many people.  No matter how hard Rena Sofer tries to justify Lois' actions - and boy, does she work hard! - it just isn't something Lois would've done.
    • Honestly, Olivia had kind of a good reason to keep her son safe from a mobster for two decades.  Sonny literally shot Dante in the chest lol and had multiple family members die, get injured, threatened, kidnapped, etc, etc.   I know you don't watch the show very often, but it's not like Olivia should have shown up and given Sonny and his 18-year-old girlfriend Brenda shared custody of a kid.  That would have been a horrible, life threatening idea.
    • Those fools will follow him over the cliff, because they look at him as their last gasp at relevance.
