November 10, 201510 yr Author Member I was going to mention that there were racist character on Passions. I remember Rebecca and her multiple racist names for Theresa lol.. And of course I remember Alistair disapproving of Julian's interest in Eve because she was black
November 10, 201510 yr Member Incest. I can think of a couple of times when GH had a great set-up for an incest story in recent years but they will never do that. Claudia and Johnny, and Julian and Ava both would have made great incest stories.

Guy has sex with his father (and gets pregnant) and rapes his sister multiple times. People are not here for that.. There were very few things Passions didnt do. They definietly pushed the envelope and crossed the line Edited November 10, 201510 yr by Cheap21

I never ever want to see incest on a soap again.
November 10, 201510 yr Member I'm surprised nobody's mentioned that the only taboo left on soaps today is good, character-driven writing. In fact, it is avoided at all costs!

It's a shame that they don't consider it. Claudia was obsessed with Johnny, Claudia inexplicably hated Lulu, the father's hate for Claudia was extreme and he went insane. It was all there ,they just had to tell the story.

It was already bad enough they later on rewrote it as Claudia being his mother even though they weren't that far apart in age.
November 10, 201510 yr Member Has a soap ever done a child molesation storyline? I'm sure that would have been extremely controversial if they have. There are certain subjects that I think are taboo even for soaps to do, and this is one of them UK soap, Eastenders did a child molestation story with Whitney Dean. Her molester/step dad, Tony King, was prepping to groom her friend, Lauren, as his next target before he got caught. It was a gritty story and shocking as hell. I think a story we'd never see on US soaps too that is controversial are murder stories where a child is the target (a la Adam Walsh).

Hollyoaks is currently doing that Whitney-type story with Pete/Cleo, and is currently grooming the even younger, Jade. It's been fantastic.

Hollyoaks is a soap I've always tried getting into but couldn't. It was always too campy for my taste. But I'll look into this. Thanks! Has a soap ever done a child molesation storyline? Remember the sex trafficking storyline All My Children had two years ago and people complained about it even though it was a good story US soaps need a serious overhaul Edited November 11, 201510 yr by cassadine1991
November 11, 201510 yr Member NBA, if you don't like soap opera on acid, you won't like what Hollyoaks has become. The show may be insane, but personally, I feel it's been running on a relative high since November (except for anything having to do with the horrible Tegan). It's certainly miles better than Corrie or EE. Edited November 11, 201510 yr by Bright Eyes
