Longtime Lynch associate Charlotte Stewart (Betty Briggs) is up to something on Twitter:

Will see a lot you Peak fans in North Bend next weekend! I'll have a surprise.:-)

Michael Ausiello:

Question: I recently read that the new Twin Peaks has been increased to 18 episodes now โ€”how true is this? โ€”Nathan

Ausiello: Itโ€™s a fluid situation (isnโ€™t it always with David Lynch?), but Iโ€™m hearing the same number being batted around. Although a source cautions that โ€œit may be 18 total hoursโ€ as opposed to 18 episodes (meaning a few of the installments could be super-sized).

Per the Red Room Podcast: "The owner of Big Ed's house has been contacted to film there." I think they mean the location for Big Ed's Gas Farm, which has apparently stood mysteriously vacant for months.

Showtime President David Nevins discusses TP. Says he's given Lynch "enormous" creative control, that Lynch has been thinking about it for a long time and that he's read all the scripts.

From WTTP's Twitter:

#TwinPeaks locations that have recently been visited by David Lynch include the Sheriff's station, the Hurley residence & "a" Palmer house.

By "a house," they mean one of the two houses used for the Palmer family home - one for FWWM, one for the series.

From Michael Ausiello:

Question: Since David Lynchย returned to theย Twin Peaksย revival, official news been hard to come by.ย Anythingย youโ€™ve heard? โ€”Ross
Ausiello:ย Coop will encounter a fresh crop ofย quirkyย locals (in addition to lots of familiar faces) when he returns to Twin Peaks, andย Lynch is adoptingย a rather unorthodox auditionย process to find these new oddballs. Rumor has itย heโ€™s asking prospective new cast members to prepare and perform a lengthyย monologueย about themselves. Also, heโ€™s specifically looking forย interesting, character-y, preferably unknown actors.

ย

This is pretty similar to Lynch's original audition process for TP, where he would simply sit down and talk to the actors about themselves.

Mรคdchen Amick has been cast in the upcoming season of American Horror Story, one of many popular Ryan Murphy shows I go out of my way to never watch. But good for her.

ย

I doubt this will interfere with any filming for TP.

From today's Showtime TCA event, from a variety of tweeters:

ย

ย

Showtime says Twin Peaks begins filming in September
Twin Peaks will have โ€œFamiliar faces fans are waiting for, as well as some big surprisesโ€ says Showtimeโ€™s David Nevin.

ย

ย

When will we see ? "I want it as badly and as soon as the biggest fans in the world want it. I'm hoping 2016," says Nevins.
Showtime president David Nevins never had a doubt "Twin Peaks" would happen. Problem was they originally budgeted for nine episodes.

ย

ย

ย

Nevins hopes (starts shooting Sept) premieres in '16 but "it's not clear" thatll happen."Iโ€™ll take it when theyโ€™re ready."
Nevins on casting: "You should be optimistic that the people that you want will be there"

ย

ย

ย

David Lynch is approaching shooting as "one long movie."
Nevins on how many episodes ofย : "Don't know. It's open-ended." (Probably more than the 9 announced.)

ย

ย

ย

Nevins: No precise episode order has been set for , only that he wants more than nine.

TV Line:

ย

Showtimeโ€™sย Twin Peaksย revival will start shooting in September and fans can expect โ€œfamiliar facesโ€ as well as some โ€œbig surprises,โ€ย the cablerโ€™s president, David Nevins, told reporters Tuesday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills. The exec, however, declined to say which vets would be joiningย confirmed returning cast memberย Kyle MacLachlan. โ€œYou should be optimistic that the people that you want [back] will be there, and then there will be some surprises in addition.โ€

ย

And what about a premiere date? โ€œI want it as badly and as soon as the biggest fans in the world want it,โ€ he said. โ€œIโ€™m hoping we make 2016. Itโ€™s not clear. Itโ€™s ultimately going to be in [series co-creators David Lynch and Mark Frostโ€™s]ย control. Theyโ€™re going to shoot the whole thing and then theyโ€™ll start posting. Bottom line is Iโ€™ll take it when theyโ€™re ready with itโ€ฆ but Iโ€™m hoping sooner rather than later.โ€

Regarding the theย contract squabbleย between Showtime and Lynch that threatened to derail the whole project, Nevins said, โ€œI never had any doubts we were going to get him back. This was a huge priority project to me. It became clear that it was going to take more than nine episodes, which was the originally planned-for and budgeted-for length of the series. I really wanted to get David to direct the whole thing, and he wanted to direct the whole thing. We had to work out the details. We eventually got through it.โ€

Nevins concluded that Lynch and Frost are approaching the project as โ€œone long movie,โ€ and, having read all of the scripts, offered this critique: โ€œItโ€™s very satisfying. Thereโ€™s certain basic questions that I had at the end of the original [show] โ€” given where Agent Cooper is โ€” and I think those questions get answered.. .. Twenty-five years have passed. But it resolves the questions left from the original series.โ€

ย

In other accounts of the event, Nivens also stressed that the inability to name an episode number (I hope it's still 18, which is what Sherilyn Fenn said she was told by Lynch), a premiere date or the cast was all on Lynch - Nivens hasย apparently been sworn to secrecy, and Lynch has unprecedented creative control over PR, just as Lynch/Frost did on the original show.

We suspected it all weekend due to some curious film notices, and it is apparently true - Twin Peaks is filming here in Brooklyn, at the Grand Prospect Hall. They've been there since dawn at least. I didn't go this morning because most online TP'ers had dismissed it as a coincidence. This is apparently not the case.

ย

Lynch himself has been spotted at other filming locations for the show, which is scheduled to air on Showtime, but Grand Prospect Hall owner Michael Halkias told DNAinfo New York he hadn't yet spotted the "Blue Velvet" director.

Halkias said a crew of "hundreds of people" descended on Grand Prospect Hall to film starting on Sunday and would be there all day Monday. Security is tight and even employees of Grand Prospect Hall had to pass security clearance, Halkias said.

โ€œWe are under total occupation,โ€ he said.

This isn't the first time Grand Prospect Hall has been on screen. In addition to hosting weddings and a new beer garden, the ornate building has served as the backdrop to Wes Anderson's "The Royal Tenenbaums" and a Foxy Brown music video, according to the venue's website.

ย

I am nearby and am going to be checking it out, though everyone there is sworn to secrecy and will not speak to the public or let us inside. I expect to see and hear nothing. But I don't care.
