The SON baby

  • Members

Just a little thread to keep the people interested informed about the SON baby. :-) I'm 13 weeks along and due on April 8th. I had the new genetic testing (MaterniT21) done because I'm over 35. It's just a simple blood draw, that's less invasive than an amnio. Luckily, is well on that front.

You can also find out the gender of the baby with this new test. I'm having a boy. I'm a little nervous about that, since I guess being a woman I just feel like I have more of a sense of how to parent a girl, but I guess I'll figure it out.

Thanks to the people who've asked about how I'm feeling and who have wished us well. I really appreciate it. I'm feeling pretty good now that I'm out of the first trimester. Still a little tired, but I was lucky and didn't have terrible morning sickness. Mostly what I'm hoping for is things to stay uneventful for the next six months.

If anyone has name ideas, I'm open to suggestions. Right now, Elijah is in the running.

Just a quick update to say that I can definitely feel the baby moving around now. It's just flutters, but unmistakable.

How exciting! I hope one day you will post pictures but I could see why you may not want to.

I will Q. I probably wouldn't once he's past babyhood, but I'll definitely post one when he's born.

Sounds wonderful! My one and only was born 22 years ago and I miss being pregnant (a little).

It must be very rewarding to have a grown child. Most of my maternal family had many children and had them much younger than myself (Irish Catholics), so to some degree I miss the fact that I don't have any significantly older children. My mother had her first when she was 19, but that was 60 years ago. I just wasn't cut out for that life. I'm not religious, so I'm the black sheep in more ways than one.

I'll admit that I don't love being pregnant the way some women do. I'm very grateful, don't get me wrong, but feeling tired all the time is really draining. I don't know how the Michelle Duggars of the world do it. Luckily, I'll never find out.

Congrats Julia. Glad to know little SoapBoy is doing well.

smile.png The naming situation is back in flux, since my husband vetoed Jack as a middle name and became unsure of Elijah. I think the pregnancy is more real to him now, so he's getting more invested. The names in contention now are Benjamin, Samuel, and Elijah. The middle name will be Emmanuel, after the paternal grandfather. So we'll see what feels right once we are closer.

My 20 week anatomy scan is tomorrow, so fingers crossed there. If there are any major problems that the genetic testing didn't pick up, they might come to light tomorrow. If all is well, I'll be able to breath a little easier.

Looking at those names my first question is - since I don't know you last name - are there any initial issues that need to be taken into consideration? For example my initials spell MLB so I've gotten some Major League Baseball jokes every now and then.

(And remember Marcel is always there for the taking!)

Last name is Winograd. I initially wanted to name the baby Jacob Elijah Winograd (JEW). My husband thought about that for two seconds before going "NO!!". He is Jewish, but I'm not, so that didn't even occur to me. laugh.png

Good luck with your test tomorrow!

Thank you! I mixed up the days. The test is Thursday afternoon, but I'll post once I'm back.

I LIVE AND BREATHE for "Benjamin Emmanuel Winogard"
