Poor Nicole. I can't imagine being falsely accused of something so awful. I can't be mad at Eric, since he's a victim. It's also hard for me to hate Kristen, since he gives this show life, but I do look forward to her downfall this time.

It's awful, one of the worst feelings in the world. That being said I feel strangely detached from this storyline, I don't really understand why. Maybe it's the pacing or the fact that we never saw the act actually happen in it's entirety but it still feels a bit incorporeal. Even the way the description is written makes it seem like it didn't really happen, "alleged rape." Either the rape was committed or it wasn't, there is no in-between. I hate the way soaps deal with male rape in this fashion.

Yeah, and the voiceover at the beginning says he was "drugged and seduced." Uh... no. He was not seduced. He was raped.

Well, it reveals an ugly side about society when it comes to male rape. It's never taken that seriously because a woman can't force a man...or some shyt like that.

Are we even watching the same show? We saw everything with Kristen raping Eric. The constant flashbacks show only spliced seconds, but when it happened we saw it all - there is no ambiguity about it. Eric even calls it rape. Why would anyone place any weight with an voiceover from the worst PR team in network television who don't even watch the show (or any other NBC show for that matter)?

agreed. The show is portraying it as rape and allowing, Eric as the victim call it out as such. I also don't see how someone can say the opposite is happening

This is an interesting subject and I'd like to know exactly what the law says about it. When we think of women being drugged we tend to think of them as blacked out or semi-conscious, hardly able to move. Eric was groggy but assumed a physically dominant role in his and Kristen's intercourse (not that that could necessarily be proven if there wasn't video). I wonder if the law has something to say about that opposed to say a man being tied down or in a state like a drugged woman as described above. Of course there are cases of adult women forcing boys to have intercourse with them (Did you all see that Oprah about the man and his mother?) and that is certainly rape. I'm interested to see how this is going to play out because Kristen's lawyers will most likely try to play it off as consensual once that video gets played in court. Meanwhile, I can hardly believe that Eileen is already taping Y&R when it seems like we've got a WAYS to go until the denouement. DOOL is taped several months ahead, right?

It is. They were filming Christmas in late September.

Eileen has rocked it this go around, I hope we see her back sooner, rather than later.

I must have missed something then, because all I saw was Kristen sneak into his room. I didn't see the actual rape scene, all I have seen of it is the flashbacks and Eric not knowing what happened. Regardless NBC isn't portraying it as rape -- which seems odd. If it wasn't Eric himself calling it, rape I feel like it wouldn't be thought of as such.

Did you watch the entire episode? When Kristen snuck into the room, we saw them have sex. It was quite explicit with nothing implied

That's just the beginning of it. He was all over her and we've seen plenty of flashbacks and snippets of Kristen's video to remind of us of what happened. She even thought she may have gotten pregnant from that. There was nothing alleged about them having sex. It happened and now he's calling it rape as he's figured out what occurred

Let's flip this around: replace "Eric Brady" with "Sami Brady" and "Kristen DiMera" with "EJ DiMera" Oh, wait, that's a bad example.... Swap "Eric" for "Hope" and "Kristen" with "Stefano". No way "drugged and seduced" would fly. On top of it, it's always been very disturbing that this happened to a priest. DAYS has spent so much time and energy creating "Eric the priest," the church, the school, etc., this is really just a cheap way of having Eric leave the priesthood so he can be with Nicole. Because there is no way someone as hot as GV was going to keep his clothes on for his entire run.

IDA. I don't think this is a cheap way of doing that as they took the less obvious route. When he joined the show, I fully expected him to give into temptation and have an affair. We've seen that done so many time on various soaps but they were original with this story. I like that it wasn't Eric's fault and he didn't compromise his values or integrity. This is a new subject that I don't think has been tackled before. I actually like it and think Days has been good with it so far

I sort of wish they would have had Kristen leave town pregnant with the viewer not knowing which brother fathered the kid.

It would have been a good idea, if not for the Kristen being infertile drove the story on this show for most of 1996-1998. I like that history has been kept intact by keeping her unable to conceive.
