The season finale, more than any previous episode, really made me scoff at this series being referred to as a "comedy".

I find Augustin repulsive on a couple of levels. I could see Frank not appearing in many episodes next season.

Great episode, although I hesitate to call it a season finale, since the end is too soon/too abrupt (if that makes any sense). The show evolved into something really great. I hate that it was only 8 episodes. Most shows will need 2-4 episodes to really get going and, then, you don't have enough time to really solidify and pull the audience in for good. Just when you are excited for the next four/five episodes to round things up and give a good ending/cliffhanger, oops! the show is gone for another year. I think they could have benefited from a longer episode run.

Doris' "Dom is worth it" brought me to tears. She's truly fantastic. I died when she said, "more gay men, that's just what I need" or something to that effect. And Richie & Patrick's official break up scene was very sad.

As for Kevin/Patrick... I thought it was hot. HAWT. I find Tovey very attractive and it's only logical that Patrick's first time as a bottom would be awkward/weird. I do like Richie as a person much more than Kevin, but Kevin and Patrick as a couple are the stuff that makes great drama. Kevin's alpha male, relentless, powerful nature against Patrick's desire to feel validated and wanted/needed. Not to mention the fact that Kevin won't be leaving his boyfriend. It's just fodder for a lot of story. Of course, Richie and Patrick have their own difficulties as well, which is why I'm invested in both these relationships going on into season 2.

Agustin is a nasty little bitch but the actor is really fantastic. And, come on, you gotta feel a little sad for him after Frank tells him he will never be anything but mediocre. Ouch.

Lovely little ending with Patrick and the Golden Girls episode/theme song.

Dom's storyline was kinda weird to me in its execution. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be a great success so the show completely surprised me by going in that direction. At the very least I thought Aug was going to be loaded and be a complete disaster there and ruin it for Dom by making a scene right in front of those investors. Or that Dom would get angry with someone (Doris or staff) and just ruin it himself.

Then the whole thing with Lyn just seemed rushed IMO...maybe its the whole 8 episodes thing but there just hasn't been enough time for any of these folks to feel that deep about one another. Esp Dom and Lyn after he rejected him a couple of episodes ago. I understand Doris' speech was probably a kickstarter for that but I still don't know if it was believable.

Agreed about Patrick and Kevin and your breakdown is pure perfection. Compared to Patrick, Kevin is a total alpha male and I can see why Patrick would succumb to his advances and not put up a fight in terms of position or anything really. He didn't even really think about the boyfriend John...

I don't know. I seem to recall the first SATC season finale was kinda of abrupt and open. Just like Richie and Patrick breaking up, there was Big and Carrie breaking up. Will Lynn/Dom work is comparative to Will Samantha stay with a man with a small...tool? And currently how stand alone those first season episodes were...well...

I admit that I am curious to see where both of those relationships go. I see too many levels going on with it and find it fascinating.

Interesting. I always wonder how restrictive contracts are in these situations.

On a gossipy note, this show came up in conversation in the dressing room of the play I'm currently doing. My friend/cast mate says he refuses to watch the show because he dated FA's sister and says he was a total douche.

    • I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it.  I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.
    • Did Jordan Clarke have a departure sometime between 1985 and 1989? I know Robert Newman had three runs: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end.
    • Well, they usually weren't on the show at the time for long until the late 90's. But yeah, they really deserved a story centered on them, and not through the lens of Reva.
    • Chelsea was doing the absolute most today! Why was she introducing her sister to a woman she doesnt know? That whole scene was embarrassing. Madison needs to stay away from her bc she is too immature
    • Gosh, what a waste with Lunacy. Why have her live with $B, reveal Finn, pardon her, etc What makes this story incredibly hollow is that what Luna is asking isn't unreasonable - to spend time with her cousin father. She's not asking to move in with them. How hard with it be for Finn to throw her a bone by, say, I'll meet you for lunch/coffee once at week at the hospital cafeteria. Lunacy isn't going to hurt Finn. In fact, all her crimes were related to finding her father and it turns out to be someone she's loved her entire life. Instead of course-correcting the nonsense of last summer, Brad somehow found a way to make this worse! That's a skill... Of all the younger actors B&B has cast during the past 5 years, LY has shown the most growth and range. Why get rid of her?
    • On the subject of sets (seems more interesting to discuss than the actual show)  Some sets we don't see anymore Lauren/Michael apartment (haven't seen that in years) Victoria's house (are Marian/Tessa living there?) Apartment above Crimson Lights (I think Chelsea was the last resident) Penthouse (Lily's home) Chancellor Estate (Devon/Abby) Chancellor office (once Dark Horse) Nick's house GCAC room (used as residence/hotel room for several characters) Some of these may pop up again. The tack house, for example, was not seen for many months before being used again. Have I missed anything?
    • Thanks for searching through everything. Worked on them so long, just too lazy to check for those links myself, so I am glad you chose to do it! I guess I never did type out anything for 1973-1977 in regards to the preemptions, but they are on the charts at least (and this far back, they don't seem to do any of those "breakouts" anymore, so things are simpler in the 1970's, so eventually I could type those out).
    • I dump on the Y&R sets problem all the time, but BOLD is no better -- and they're not even introducing new sets. All of their sets are years old, and very few look like they're inhabited by people with money. Is that going to change with this move? I'd rather they save the money spent on another remote, which is no better than an HGTV travelogue, and get some new/better sets.
    • The donut posts here make up for a Friday show that was barely meh. Aside from seeing Anna, I really didn't care much about anything else. While I understand the thought behind breaking up all the sadness with "other scenes," I'd rather they moved right to John's funeral. Instead of hearing a stupid story about John changing some minor character's tire 20 years ago, just move on to the crying. I also thought the Chad and Cat scenes were a waste. I realize not everyone is devastated by John's death to the point of not functioning, but going sky diving is a choice. By the way, Jack and Jennifer are giving me nothing on this return. Please leave asap. DAYS did such a great job with John's death, so ending the week this way was a letdown.
    • Add Dr. Montgomery to list of fine women on this show! I hope the show goes forward with Madison/Chelsea and then once they're developed, bring back Allison, who is now divorced or a widow, for a Madison/Chelsea/Allison triangle.  It would definitely be the hottest triangle in daytime.
