I can't disagree here. FrankenTodd's flippant attitude really bugs me. There is absolutely no self awareness, but that is intentional. Dumb and Dumber had no intention of telling the story of a man trying to make amends for his heinous actions post tumor. Their only interest was the restoration of Todd Manning, giving PP the finger and getting him back with Carly. What's so ridiculous is that LW and RH have proven they would have massive chemistry together as any character, so you didn't need Franco - not even for shock! This only does a disservice to Carly, who should be mortified that this man is near her child IN HER HOUSE! Look closely, and you will see that there's no story here for either - just unrivaled chemistry. FrankenTodd has no job, no money, no real ties (because the Qs are of interest to no one). He's having an art show and presenting work that is not his. Why? To make money? Who needs money when you have free room and board at a pretty cool hotel where the owner comes and teases you every other day and free legal advice from a shark with a law degree?

Am I saying this guy can't be redeemed? Absolutely not! He can, but you have to write the story and you sure as hell have to write when, how and why Carly developed feelings for him.

But I won't lie. LW and RH together light my fire, so I'm going to do what Ant is doing. Pretend this is Todd (cause he really is) and go with it :)

Making him Franco was the dumbest move. And of course there's no story. Ron took the lazy way out with Frodd (surprise!). The problem is most of the 'general audience' probably does just accept it. As evidence by the amount of praise he STILL gets. He masks things well, I'll give him that, but I see through most of the [!@#$%^&*] he tries to pull.

LW and RH together are great so I guess I'll eventually come around and just accept it as Todd (agreed, cause he really is) but the whole set up has been just awful and hard to buy.

But I'll try to come around to them because I really really do like their chemistry. I just hate the attitude Todd often has. He was much better written, IMO, on the web version of OLTL.

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
