FIRST 5-DAY "SAMI-LESS" WEEK SINCE JULY 2011...ALSO SAMI'S LONGEST ABSENCE SINCE MISSING 6 EPISODES IN MARCH 2012

Alison Sweeney (Sami) was absent for the entire week (September 23-27, 2013) this week on "Days." Since August 2011, this is just the second time that Sweeney has missed 5 or more episodes in a row. She was absent for 6 episodes in a row from March 8-15, 2012. This is also the first 5-day "Sami-less" week since the week of July 25-29, 2011, during a stint when Sweeney was absent for 11 episodes in a row (July 21-August 4, 2011). Sweeney did put in a appearance behind the cameras this week though, as the director of the September 27 episode.

Not for extended periods, though. Most characters are rotated, yes, but the major players are always in at least 2-3 episodes a week.

I'm interested to watch Friday's episode knowing she directed it!

I always appreciate giving a character a rest... all characters need rests from time to time, especially when they are on-screen as often as Sami is.

Does she ever star in epsiodes that she directs? Did Susan Flannery do that at B&B back in the day?

I don't think so. Stephanie was never a 24/7 character like Sami Brady though.

No, Ali has said it's too much work to do. She's never appeared in an episode that she's directed.

I definitely don't know the mechanism of directing but it would seem to me that it would be extremely hard (maybe impossible?) to direct an episode that you're also acting in..?? Just my guesses.. I'm sure those with experience in front of/behind the camera know more.
