Members AMCHistory
The Donna/Natalie friendship mentioned above was one of my favourites. As Donna said, they both survived the "Palmer Cortlandt" experience. They were both single mothers. They both had to re-build their lives over and over again. They were never members of Pine Valley's upper crust, but they had each other to rely on and loved each other unconditionally. Soaps don't do friendships this well anymore, especially between beuatiful women. They rather see rivals and friendships. I also liked Hayley/Gloria/Dixie. These fragile, beautiful, women gravitated to each other. Especially when they all got caught-up in Adam's world. I think Gloria needed Dixie to make her more likeable. Dixie forgave Gloria for all her early schemes and machinations. Hayley gave the girls spunk. Hayley was so protective of Gloria in the mid-90's, I hated that that frienship disappeared after Dixie left. But there have been some contrived friendships that I did not care for. Brooke and Livia seemed forced. It was like Brooke had no other friends, so they stuck her with Livia. Mark and Jeff in the late 80's. All of a sudden the former brothers in laws were chummy? Mark is way to rough around the edges for Jeff, and Jeff is too much of a stick in the mud for Mark. Phoebe and Mrytle to some extent too... they were only supposed to put up with each other reluctantly. In the late 90's, they seemed to be chummy chummy whenever they wheeled out veterans for their once a month appearence at a big party.
Members greens_dupres
Me too and though it was brief, I liked Erica/Janet/Skye (CG) when they teamed up against Jonathan Kinder and sort of became an odd trio of friends
Members AMCHistory
Perfect example of how the later years of ABC-AMC dropped the ball. They did not revisit the Kendall/Janet relationship. Heck, Kendall even treated Amanda poorly and as a stranger at the start! Kendall and Amanda should have become immediate partners in crime. She should have been watching over her. When Janet finally broke from reality, Amanda should have moved in with Kendall and not Brooke (a contemporary) or the Wildwind rag-tage group that she barely knew. Another good friendship I hope to see more of are Pete and AJ. They are cousins (though Pete is one generation ahead of AJ). Heck, even Pete and Dixie should be bonding. They are first cousins. Tad and Pete are brothers! I would love Debbi to sport some more of thsoe beautiful wigs she wore before Angie went blind. I loved the short curly bob she had going on. The current hairstyle is not very flattering on her.
Members Antoyne
I'm finally watching AMC and damnit the first thing I hear is that damn guitar riff I hated at the beginning of summer.
Members Antoyne
My god the non contract teens on this show are AWFUL. Like painfully bad.
Members Antoyne
Episode 1 didn't really do much for me but episode 2 really was some great soap. For me to enjoy AJ and Miranda the way some others do, they either need to recast the recurring teens or only keep those two in scenes with vets. These two episodes were my first exposure to yet another Colby but I loved how we got two very different sides to the character on each day. I think I'll actually keep up with the show now. Members AMCHistory
Agreed, they really dropped the ball with the recurring teenagers. They are some of the worst actors that have ever graced Pine Valley, and I am putting Natalie Cigliuti on the table.
Members AlexElizabeth
The sad thing is Daniel Covin will likely be nominated for an Emmy.
Members AllMyDaysatGH
LOL. I just enjoy the hell out of Daniel Covin and his real life hipster acting. I actually like all the teen actors with the exception of steroids boy (Kyle), who has no charm and literally practices his lines as the cameras are rolling. Members EricMontreal22
I loved the three witches of PV! Is the steroids guy the one who was a last minute recast? I'm blanking on his name, but they had a young guy who has done a ton of good off-Broadway work in a recurring role but at the last minute he got a play and was recast, and since Hunter was already cast, that's the only role I can think of. Members greens_dupres
Right? They were such an unexpected and funny friendship. I'm sure fans who watched in the 80s had other opinions but I really liked Carrie Genzel. She was the first Skye I ever watched and while I eventually really liked Robin on GH, I was not a fan at all when her Skye showed up in Llanview. Members EricMontreal22
I loved her as Skye too--but I started watching literally a month or two after Skye left in '91, so she was my first Skye too. I believe she's back in Vancouver due to some family health issues to be close to her kids (she popped up recently here in some BC Lotto commercials.) Members AllMyDaysatGH
No he was originally going to play that toolbag Pete met up with at Janes.
Members EricMontreal22
Thanks for the correction--odd, that wasn't even a recurring role...
