I've honestly lost any semblance of understanding of who you mean or what you're talking about.

What I mean is that all of these events took place after FRon knew of PP's interest in the characters. PP could have put a stop to all of it and/or had FRon make the changes that they claim were damaging to them.

Shelved soaps set for a swan-song salute: Daytime Emmys 2012

June 22, 2012 / Chicago Tribune

The broadcast is set to air tributes to the two canceled shows, but Valentini is hoping that this actually isn't the final farewell for either program -- and not just because "One Life," which aired two weeks of episodes in January, may be eligible for awards next year. "Both shows will live on for years to come," says Valentini. "There's still incredible equity in both of those brands. Maybe you haven't seen the last of them. Keep your fingers crossed."

I'm just a third year law student but I imagine that this will (1) settle or (2) ABC will file a motion to dismiss that will be granted. One key aspect that no one has really mentioned and that is not stated in the complaint is that PP publicly announced it was suspending its plans for the reboots and did not start back up again for almost another year. Their complaint makes it seem ABC knew all along that they were revving up for production but I don't believe that's the case. They may have known earlier than December but I think for at least several months there was a good faith belief that OLTL was stick a fork in it done. The fact that PP did not seem to be making noise when Cole and Hope were first killed and let the characters become more and more integrated seem to add credence to this. If PP was truly outraged at the time Cole/Hope were killed, I doubt we would have had the Tomas/Alcazar thing as there would have been some kind of talking between legal teams. I imagine the abandonment of the project would be an important piece of ABC's defense. But again, I don't see it getting that far.

Oh how I would love for this to go to trial. Your honor, there are no damages for the deaths of Cole and Hope Thornhart as characters being creatively scripted back from the dead is common practice on soaps. Please refer to Youtube for Exhibit A- Project Orpheus- Dixie Cooney Martin is brought back to life in Dr David Hayward's lab after dying onscreen by way of poison pancakes. This was notably your Honor the third time she had returned from the dead. Exhibit B- Jesse Hubbard- also died right in front of us. exhibit C- Anna Scorpio, Robert Scorpio, Robin Scorpio, Cesar Faison, Lucky Spencer and pretty much everyone who has even been blown up or set on fire on General Hospital returned at one point or another. Then soap writers could testify as expert witnesses as to plausible ways they could be written back in...The car ended up in Eterna etc.

The agreement said they have a year. They had til Feb 2013. It doesnt matter that they suspended things once. They didnt quit on it. They were working on it for that year

I would follow every detail of this trial. I'd be in such glee watching PP be all desperate and what not.

BTW, love reading your posts!

Y'all, this ain't, well, ONE LIFE TO LIVE. IRL, courtroom trials are hardly that exciting.

SMH. I am not even going to read through this thread because I don't have the patience for it lol. ME, RH and KA are not worth all of this! This is so lame.

That's not the point.

The point is not what was done - all of that is easily undone if you so choose. The point is, they allegedly had no right whatsoever to do it. And then allegedly screened out PP when it came time to deal with the situation as it was in the last few months.

While I have no doubt PP is doing this now because of what's recently happened--I do think there's a question of audience loyalty. There were a lot of OLTL fans who, despite most on this board :P, followed the characters to GH to see them. I don't think bringing back from the dead, and acting like nothing happened with these characters for the new OLTL--oh and recasting several, is really the best thing to do for the audience (though I don't think this lawsuit is really about that.)

To add greens:

How hard would it be to resurrect Cope as there were no bodies.

Its like the easiest resurrection ever. We've had to believe much more ridiculous things- hello Tale of Two Todds. But more than that, do Cole & Hope really need to be resurrected? You would think they killed Viki from the language of the complaint.

Matters not when there were no damages. This is exactly the point. PP has to prove damages - I wish them much luck with that. If they thought for a minute that FRon's actions would cause harm to the new show, they should have intervened. They did not because they didn't care. They allowed FRon to do as they pleased because they wanted to share the performers. Idiots!

Bringing back from the dead could have been done on GH and recasting was inevitable. PP was trying to avoid it because the performers were the draw - not the characters w/out them.

Nobody cared about Cope, especially PP!

I agree with this on damages. 25 million is hilarious. But maybe PP is trying to fundraise for Susan Lucci and some additional musical guests.

Punitive damages - $1!

I think they should pay GH for killing Hope since saddling Starr with a baby was a huge mistake. For Cole, I will give them $20 for the original version or $30 for that cuter recast. I wish they could have just worked out an agreement where Roger went to One Life and John stayed on GH where he worked better. Then they could have flipped a coin for Kristen if really necessary.

My biggest ha ha over this is...

2 years ago ABC canceled 2 soaps. 2 years later, ABC is being sued over allegedly sabotaging efforts to reboot the same 2 soaps it canceled 2 years prior.
