Behind The Scenes Rumors

OLTL: Melissa Archer wouldn't re-sign her contract unless the show broke up John and Evangeline. That ABC didn't even try to re-sign Renee Goldsberry.

Both are bullshit.

GH: JFP hired Jennifer Bransford against Brian Frons's wishes and that he hired Laura Wright behind her back. Neither Maurice Benard nor Natalia Livingston were happy with the (mercifully brief) Sonny/Emily pairing.

AMC: Ambyr Childers was fired because she refused to play love scenes with one of either Daniel Kennedy or Sterling Suleiman (the rumor on who the actor was keeps changing).

.

Wow. That's the only good thing Frons ever did. JB's Carly seemed insufferable.

It's tough to believe Melissa Archer would have that much power over OLTL storytelling. It certainly never showed in her storylines.

I thought one rumor was that Maurice Benard wanted a Sonny/Emily pairing, but it just ended up being a disaster.

^I already knew about the one with Michael Park. But, everything else is new to me.

I posted the JB thing on DD. Credited you. I thought it was just too interesting not to share.

And, I know the character "Charlie" you're talking about. I've seen him on a few old episodes. Boring, boring, boring character. He was in the original *the first* falling pictures opening.

Hmph, Charlie was not boring! You must have only seen the episodes where the Kennedy cousin was playing him. He was the only boring one lol.

As did the reasoning--that it was because he was gay, that it was because he was black, that it was because he was gay and black...

Everyone knows about the constant coke use on the soaps in the 80s--it got so bad at AMC that one of the EPs had to put her foot down and have the head ofthe actor's union (SAG?) come in and tell the actors if they performed high one more time their contracts could be terminated.

Michael Nader's issues as well as the guy who played Pierce number 1.

Possibly.

Which one was gay? Sterling? Or, DK?

Did that Ambyr rumor come from Nellie Olsen? If so then I would have to automatically disbelieve it unless I heard it elsewhere.

RKK and Miriam Parrish (Jamie on DAYS) announced that they were together on her birthday--her 18TH birthday.

So yes, it's entirely possible they were dating while she was still underage.

Of course, they've been married for years now, so it's moot anyway.

Possibly.

Lawford as CHarlie was THE WORST. But that was long past Erica.

Which one was gay? Sterling? Or, DK?

Possibly both lol. Though Petey's actor is openly gay.

Supposedly Kate Collins and James Kiberd hated each other with the heat of a thousand suns, although they had great chemistry on screen. She finally couldn't take anymore and asked to be released from her contract in 1992. Also I heard that her return a couple of years ago was contingent on Kiberd NOT being asked back too.

In the early 80s, coke use on the set was rampant and out of control. Peter Bergman has remarked about this in interviews. Supposedly when they taped the Jenny/Tony engagement party on location on a yacht on the Hudson River, the coke was freely making the rounds. Supposedly Kim Delaney got wasted and collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital. At that point it got so bad that EP Jackie Babbin had to intervene and do her best to make the set drug free.

OLTL: In the late 80s, when Louise Sorel was on the show, she had a wild affair with EP Paul Rauch that did not end well.

GH: Leslie Charleson and Denise Alexander both DETESTED Chris Robinson. He was supposedly a terror to work with. I remember Charleson saying she once found Alexander in tears after an altercation with Robinson. It got so bad for Charleson that she asked to have their characters remains separate storywise, but Monty wouldn't budge. ----- I am not sure if this is true!

THere was the fist fight between Tony Geary and Richard Culliton after an argument about the direction of the show.

In the early 2000s, two of the young actors who were playing brothers supposedly began a hot and heavy affair. Word has it that a make-up or wardrobe lady stumbled upon them having a sexual encounter. Eventually, they both left the show...one joined another show and the other became a born again Christian.

Edge of Night was totally gay in front of camera and behind.

Exec Producer: Erwin Nicholson, actors who played Calvin, Derek, Miles, Lois Kibbee (Geraldine..gasp...a lesbian)! I had a wonderful conversation with Dennis Parker who played Derek (he was a former porn star). He was standing outside a gay bar. He was so handsome and so sweet.

Henry Slesar wanted to have gay characters but P&G constantly nixed it. (comes from actor Ernie Townsend who played Cliff, whom I ran into in NY then went to his cabaret show with Marianne Aalda (Didi). Ernie also revealed that Lois Kibbee and Laurie Durbrow wrote the show during the writer's strike of 81. That's why Slesar hired Kibbee as a writer afterwards
